Chapter 3
Brian frowned and walked over to Stella.
She looked very young when her eyes were closed, but it did not hide her beauty at all. Her lips were soft
and plump, and they looked as sweet and tempting as a peach.
The anger in Brian’s heart disappeared the moment he looked at her.
He bent over and picked her up.
She felt the warmth and snuggled into his embrace instinctively, searching for more warmth.
Brian glanced at her. His eyes were deep and inscrutable, and it was impossible to tell what he was
thinking.
He put her on the bed and was about to leave when he heard her murmuring, “Bri, you’re an asshole…”
Brian paused. He put a hand on her face and caressed gently.
As Stella was in deep sleep, she unconsciously brushed her lips over his fingers.
Brian’s breath caught in his throat. “Stella?”
Was she awake?
Stella did not react. She held on tightly to his hand and pressed it against her cheek, seemingly unwilling
to let go.
Brian bent down and kissed her.
He kissed her until his tongue felt numb.
Stella woke up in a confused fog and saw a magnified, handsome face right in front of hers.
Before she could speak, Brian kissed her again. There was a burning intensity in his eyes that seemed as
if it would burn her up.
Stella’s expression turned cold. She bit his tongue hard “Get lost!”
It hurt Brian, so he let her go. She rolled over to avoid him and glared at him as she burrowed into the
blankets.
“What’s the matter?” Brian looked coldly at her.
“I’m the one who should be asking you that. Did you come to see me after your date with that
homewrecker ended? Don’t you know how disgusting that is?” Stella hugged the blankets to herself, her tiny face filled with rage.
Brian’s eyes turned cold and icy. “She isn’t a homewrecker. Don’t talk nonsense.”
“She even has a baby. How is she not a homewrecker?”
Brian did not answer. He only said, “Don’t hurt her.”

Stella laughed coldly. “How could I hurt her? Do I look like I have a couple of extra limbs? Or do you think
I’m capable enough to go against you?”
“All I’m saying is, don’t go looking for her.”
Stella was stunned. She hadn’t expected him to defend Jessica to this extent. Her expression turned icier,
and she did not say anything else.
“How’s your stomach?” Brian sat on the edge of the bed and broke the silence.
“What’s it to you?” Stella was angry at the mention of it She had been lying in the hospital room, suffering,
while he had gone to keep another woman company. No wife would be able to accept such a thing.
Stella was so angry that there seemed to be a fog in her eyes. She said abruptly, “Brian, let’s get divorced.”
“What did you call me?” Brian’s gaze swept coldly toward her.
She had always called him “Bri“.
Brian was eight years older than she was, and he had always had a formidable, intimidating demeanor. In
the past, he only had to look at her to frighten her.
However, Stella seemed to have thrown aside all her inhibitions. She met his eyes boldly. “I called you by
your name. From now on, I’m going to call you by your name. Like I said, let’s get divorced.”
The moment she had seen him leave that morning, the thought of divorce had emerged in her mind.
He wouldn’t even stay with her when she was hospitalized. What use was a man like that? She would only
frustrate herself if she stayed with him.
“What did you say?” Brian thought that he had heard her wrongly. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at
her. “Say it again.”
*Brian, I regret it. I don’t want to be together with you anymore. Let’s get divorced,” Stella repeated.
It would be much better for her to leave such a heartless man as soon as she could. Besides, he had said
before that he would never love her.
Brian laughed scornfully, and there was a cold look in his eyes as he asked, “What are you playing at this
time?”
Even when she wanted to divorce him, he still thought that she was plotting something.
If a man didn’t love a woman, he would always dismiss what she said, even if she said that she was going to kill herself.
Stella lost hope completely. Her eyes were dark and devoid of light. “I’m not plotting anything, Brian. I’m serious. I’ve been in this loveless marriage for two years, and I’ve had enough.”
For 700 days and nights, she had gone from being full of hope to completely losing hope. She had had enough of living like that.
“Have you forgotten that Simon was the one who served you up to me in bed?”

Brian’s eyes were sinister as he continued speaking, “He tried every trick in the book to force me to marry you, and now you want to get divorced? Stella, do you even believe what you’re saying?
“Even if you’re just venting your emotions, you should restrain yourself. Men don’t like it when women are too annoying.”
Two years ago, it had been Simon Yates, Stella’s father, who had sent Stella into Brian’s bed.
At the time, Simon’s company had run into problems.
He had an inkling that he would be arrested and imprisoned, and he was afraid that his enemies would come looking for his daughter. Therefore, he had sent Stella to Brian instead. He had even lured reporters and the Foley family over to force Brian to marry Stella.
Simon was privy to the secrets of Foley Group, so he had threatened Brian that he would expose all the secrets if the latter did not protect Stella.
That was how Simon had manipulated the situation to attain the marriage.
Brian was full of resentment for what Simon had donel
On their wedding night, he had warned Stella coldly, Stella, your father has given you to me. From now on, you’ll have to stay with me to pay for your crimes. You must obey what I say, and you’re not allowed to object.”
Stella was 20 years old at the time and was a sophomore in college.
She had been very afraid, and her eyes were red as she nodded and said, “Okay, Bri.”
“Don’t call me that!” Brian had scolded her sharply..
“I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful in the future.
As she recalled the past, Stella’s eyes filled with grief.
Stella did not hate Simon. She knew that Simon had forced her to marry Brian in order to protect her.
It had been two years since.
Simon was now in jail, and he would only be released after a couple more years.
“I know that you were reluctant to marry me and that you resent me for it. I’m going to let you have your
freedom back,” she said.
Although she hated him for cheating on her, she was grateful that he had protected her for two years.
Brian looked coldly at her, and after a moment, he scoffed. “Stella, your studio isn’t making a single cent right now. Do you think that you can support yourself if we get divorced?”
Stella and Yelena had opened a studio together and were currently in the midst of establishing their business. They had not managed to make any profits yet.
“No one starts earning money as soon as they establish their business. They all need time to refine themselves. I know that I’m not earning any money right now, but I’ll work hard.
“Brian, I’ve already graduated, and I’m all grown up now. I no longer need your protection.”
Brian’s brow was tightly furrowed. “I see. You want to divorce me now that you’re done using me. Stella, there’s no such thing as a free meal. You forced me to marry you when your family needed me, and now you want to divorce me because I’m no longer needed?
“I admit that my father shouldn’t have done that, but haven’t I been trying to make up for it for the past two years? I’ve obeyed everything you said, and I’ve never defied you.
“Besides, didn’t you want freedom? The woman you’re fooling around with outside is pregnant. Don’t you want her child to have an identity?”
“I don’t need you to question my affairs.” His voice was cold and deep.
Stella shut up.
It was true. He had never allowed her to ask about his affairs.
Stella turned around and walked out of the bedroom.
Brian’s expression darkened. He yanked her back roughly and pressed her down on the blankets. She was trapped between his arms as his eagle–like eyes stared intently at her.
Stella was startled. “What are you doing?”
‘Didn’t you say that you love me? You confess to me every single day.” There was a note of rage in his expression. “Are you willing to watch me get into a relationship with someone else? Doesn’t it upset you?”
Stella lowered her eyes and said softly, “Not anymore.
Although she was upset, she did not want to like him anymore.
