Chapter My Toyboy 315
Chapter 315
Jonathan's face had already darkened by now. However, Cynthia kept a soft smile and casually said, "Mrs. Clark, this is not Filip, he's my husband, Jonathan."
The lady was called Emma Clark. She was taken aback for a moment. She said in embarrassment, "Oh, I'm sorry. I guess my eyes are playing tricks on me. I must be getting old."
After a bit more small talk, Emma continued, "Cynthia, since you don't often return, this meal is on me." She left.
The atmosphere grew quiet. Cynthia unwrapped a fork and handed it to Jonathan, but he didn't take it. He said with jealousy, "Looks like you were popular back'in school."
Cynthia was amused by Jonathan's expression. It was like he had "I'm jealous, hurry up and comfort me" written all over his face. But Cynthia deliberately didn't comfort him, just placing the fork in front of him.
She said, "I was the school beauty back then. Got so many love letters and chocolates daily that my hands nearly went numb." Cynthia picked up a piece of fish. "I suppose you were quite popular, too, weren't you?" she teased.
Cynthia thought that with Jonathan's stunningly handsome face, he must have been the heartthrob of countless girls during college. However, jonathan wasn't. He went abroad when he was a teenager.
During those years overseas, he was a recluse, always keeping to himself. He never joined any of those social gatherings Amirocans love.
And whenever someone confessed their feelings to him, he'd coldly reject them. Rumors spread that he was aloof and indifferent, with no regard for others. Eventually, no one dared to approach him.
Jonathan snorted softly, picking up a piece of food with his fork. "Do you think I'm the same around others as I am with you?"
Cynthia immediately grasped it. The disparity between Jonathan's behavior around others and his actions with her was strikingly large. Who could have envisioned that a person feared by all, seemingly ice-cold at heart, would act like a carefree and impish lad in her presence?
Cynthia suddenly remembered how he was in bed, exuding a seductive air. It was a stark contrast to his current composed and aristocratic bearing. Cynthia's cheeks blushed slightly.
Jonathan sighed, "I wish I'd found you earlier." It wasn't for lack of trying. His complex relationships and Whitney's presence held him back as he feared for Cynthia's safety. Also, she had been his faith all these years.
He just wanted to see her again and never thought that love could grow between them. He didn't expect to fall in love with her when she grew up, which made him very regretful.
Cynthia placed the first piece of fish into Jonathan's plate. "It's not too late; everything is just right now."
Jonathan smiled too and looked up. "Cynthia, no matter what happens in the future, no matter who I am, please never leave me, okay?" Cynthia thought he was worried about losing the battle with Whitney.
She laughed and said, "Don't worry. Even if you're not the heir of the Bennett family, even if you lose everything, I won't leave you. At worst, I'll take care of you." Jonathan burst out laughing. "You'll take care of me?" Cynthia nodded, "You might not know this yet, but your wife is quite wealthy." She laughed and continued, "Don't worry about anything. Go ahead and try your best against Whitney. At worst, I can support you for life.
Jonathan was definitely not going to get to that stage. But when he saw the innocent and sincere Cynthia, something in Jonathan's heart, which had been frozen and cold for years, began to soften and transform. It was as if a long-dormant spring within him had suddenly started to flow again.

"Hey, what are you doing here, babe?" A voice came from nearby. Cynthia and Jonathan looked up to see Naomi standing casually by the table, looking completely surprised.
Then, in the next second, she squeezed right next to Cynthia's seat without any hesitation, so close that their arms almost touched.
Without any hesitation, she snatched the fork from Cynthia's hand and started eating the fish. "Cyn, you're being unfair. I've asked you to join me for drinks countless times, but you keep turning me down. Now, you are eating grilled fish with others without inviting me." Having her fork snatched away left Cynthia somewhat helpless, but she was evidently accustomed to it. She simply pulled out another fork and asked, "Why are you here?"
"I'm just accompanying someone to buy a voice recorder at the electronics store nearby as he lost his. It is available only here." Just then, the person she was referring to appeared. Cynthia stood up hastily, "Dr. Xenos."
Hector smiled. "Cynthia, you don't need to address me like that anymore." Cynthia looked a bit embarrassed. "After so many years of friendship, it's difficult to change the way I address you.
Hector had just witnessed Naomi snatching the fork from Cynthia's hand. Now, Naomi was merrily using Cynthia's fork to eat. His heart sank slightly. It seemed Naomi liked Cynthia more.
Cynthia suggested, "Why don't you sit here and eat with us?" Neither Hector nor Jonathan was keen on the idea, but Naomi was already eating.
She invited Hector to sit down. "Hector, feel at ease. We're all friends here." Hector glanced at Jonathan. He couldn't determine whether Naomi was really oblivious or merely pretending not to notice Jonathan. Jonathan, however, kept a stern look as if he was saying, "Who said we were all friends here?" Hector thought, 'Didn't he see it?' Hector had no choice but to sit down next to Jonathan.
After two more people sat around the small table, it suddenly seemed cramped. Worried, Cynthia asked, "Hector, did you lose your recorder? Was it the one with ruby inlay?"
Hector looked down with a noncommittal hum. Cynthia, who had known Hector for years, was aware that he, being a long-time psychologist, had a favorite and quite expensive voice recorder.
But that recorder was from a niche luxury brand from Friyx and was insanely expensive. She thought, 'How could it be available for sale in the electronics market here?'
Naomi casually said, "He's been having a run of bad luck recently. First, his computer conks out, then his phone goes missing, and now he's dragged me along to buy a new voice recorder. It's like he's on a losing streak." She glanced at Hector with a teasing smile, "I think you're turning into a walking disaster zone."
Hector glanced away from Naomi's eyes quickly. Cynthia noticed his evasive gaze and the slight awkwardness on his face. Glancing at his ears, she saw they were turning a bit red.
Cynthia suddenly guessed what was going on and didn't bother to hide her thoughts. "Are you two dating?" she asked directly.
Hector glanced at Cynthia in surprise, his checks blushing. However, he bit his lip and remained silent. This reaction made Cynthia almost entirely certain about it.
But Naomi quickly denied it. "What on earth are you talking about? We're merely good friends. There's no way we're dating. You surely know exactly what kind of person I like." Hector stayed silent, concentrating on his food. Naomi glanced Hector and said, "Stop with the jake
