Chapter Anger
Chapter 44: Anger
I turned to where the commotion was coming from. I couldn’t help but to laugh. There stood Amber in her white dress, or should I say her red dress. The front half of her dress was covered in a bright red. I glanced at Kai who didn’t pay attention to the raging blonde next to him. He stared at me with such rage, I coiled into Lir’s arm.
“Is he your mate?” Lord Lir asked and I barked out a laugh.
“Unlikely, I probably pissed him off in some way. I was constantly doing it when I first arrived to Ravenwood.” I shook my head at the notion. But even still, some part twinge with an unknown emotion.
“So he wouldn’t mind if I kiss you, right?” Lord Lir leaned I and I backed away.
“What are you doing? You are engaged. Even if she doesn’t know it. You know it. It’s still wrong to cheat on her, especially if it wasn’t her idea.” I took another step back, almost colliding with another person on the dance floor.
“Is everything alright here?” Kai stormed over grabbing my arm.
I yank my arm away from Kai, “We are fine.” I stormed off in a fit of rage. Why was I being so irrational? I was happy a couple moments ago.
“You can’t be this oblivious.” Nyra asked. I could almost feel her roll her eyes.
“Hey, you still haven’t danced with me.” Kai spun me around.
“Not now.” I grumbled and backed away from him.
“What did I do to piss you off so much?” Kai said angrily. He pulled me closer to him. I could feel his breath fan my face. My stomach knotted as I fell helplessly into his eyes. What the heck is wrong with me? Hormones. I deduced, I haven’t liked a guy before and since I’m new to this my hormones are out of whack.
“Nothing.” I said after several moments in a dream like stance. I blinked a couple times. What am I doing? I tried to yank my arm away from Kai.
“You are really starting to piss me off.” He grumbled.
I stiffened, “Your one to talk. First of all you run hot and cold when we first met. Then everything was good. In fact several moments I think for a second…” I trailed off. I can’t believe what I almost blurted out. I wanted to say moment but that sounded to corny. I cleared my throat, ’Never mind that. Why are you so angry this time?”
Kai scoffed, “This time? What are you talking about?” He seethed.
I took a step closer to him. Even though I was only a couple of inches shorter than him, I felt short in his gaze. I glared at him through his red mask, “Why where you so mad when Zephyr and I was talking? Why did you get pissed off when Alistair and I where talking. Why are pissed now?”
He pushed me away and inhaled sharply, “I can’t deal with this right now.”
“Your right.” I touched the area where Kai’s hand was. My skin felt like it was burning.
I turned away from him and continued to walk away. Don’t cry. Do not cry. I repeated the same thing over and over in my mind. This was supposed to be fun. Why do I feel so miserable right now. My armed burned, I bit back a yelp as I rubbed my thumb against the sore spot. He was not even holding me tightly, why did it burn so much?
“Hey, are you okay?” Even with her mask on I could tell it was Clementine. I tucked my arm behind my back and forced a smile.
“Yeah. I think the hunger is getting to me.” I rubbed my stomach with my good arm.
She cackled. “I suppose only having breakfast, would do that to you. Come on, I’ll show you where the food is.”
She grabbed onto my good arm and linked it with hers. She guided us to a small buffet crammed in a shadowed corner. There was a faint smell of food hit my nose. My stomach let out a furious growl. Clementine let go of my hand and handed me a small plate.
“These are only appetizers because the meal will be served later.” She explained as she loaded them up with every funny looking food in the buffet.
Now forced to expose my red arm, I picked up a cracker. She let out a gasp as she noticed my arm, “What on Earth did you do?”
I laughed, “Does it look that bad?” I glanced at my arm. I almost dropped my plate. My arm was all purple and swollen. This couldn’t be from Kai, could it?
“Here.” She grabbed onto my arm. I flinched at the pain; the simple movement caused. She rubbed her fingers across my arm and whispered ever so slightly. My arm glowed pink for a little while. When it light faded the bruise was still there. “Odd.” She whispered, “Maybe? It’s possible.” She whispered another chant. This time my arm glowed white. When the light faded the bruise was completely gone.
“So pink means healing?” I asked.
She laughed while shaking her head, “Pink is energy. I can manipulate energy in every faction. I can use it to influence or in most cases heal. But since pink comes from manipulating the energy of others. It does little to help me or other members of this factions. Which is why we are deemed the weakest.”
“That sounds very powerful to me. You could influence other. Turn an army against each other.” I raised an eyebrow.
She shook her head, “That type of energy magic has been lost for ages.”
“Wow, so it did exist. What’s stopping someone from trying to recreate the magic?” I asked. Pink could be the most powerful. Overthrowing the other factions wouldn’t be hard. I’m assuming.
She said, barely above a whisper, “It’s illegal.” There was a moment of pause. As if she shouldn’t be talking about this in the first place, “Anyways, how did you get that. Those bruises only when—”
“Now introducing the Infernal Royal Family.” A voice announced. I turned to the grand staircase I descended not to long ago. King Satan stood without a mask. He wore a grand outfit. He even had the red cape lined with fur, the type of cape you expect royalty to wear. Alistair stood on his right, wearing an outfit just as bold. Lamina, hidden under of the shadow if the two in a loose soft pink dress. She really did look like an angel. Hidden by a mysterious shroud of darkness stood Oziel. I almost forgotten she was Satan’s daughter.
Applauds erupted from the room as the descended down the stairs. I caught the eyes of Lamina. Her eyes bore into mine with such intensity, I had to look away. Was she mad?
“Did someone give you the oblivious pill?” Nyra asked.
“What are you talking about?” I thought back to her.
“My point exactly. Of course Lamina is mad. I know you need the information. But you shouldn’t have used her like that.”
“Weren’t you for this whole idea?” I asked raising my eyebrow.
“Can we talk?” Kai approached and anger surged through me. Was this another side-effect of the shift.
“You sure you want to talk. Are you happy now? Should I take a step back in case you hurt me again?” I stepped away from him.
“He did that to you?” Clementine exclaimed. Her eyes bulged out of her head.
“Did what?” Kai asked.
“Forget it.” I huffed; I can’t be in the same room as Kai anymore.
I walked over to Alvina and Zephyr, “Can I talk to you for a second?”
“Which one?” Zephyr joked.
I rolled my eyes, “Both.”
“Go on.” Alvina elbowed Zephyr in the gut and nodded to me. I pretended not to see it as I said, “I know where Gabe is going to be.”
“What?!” Zephyr blurted before Alvina slapped her hand over his mouth.
“I’m sorry. It completely slipped my mind. But Gabe said he was going to be at the place where I got the burns a couple of day ago.”
“How did you forget this?” Zephyr asked.
I ran my fingers through my hair. It was to late, I messed up my carefully done hair. “I don’t know?” I scrunched my eyebrows together. It wasn’t to long ago but never did the thought occurred to me. It’s like I forgot it on purpose. It was only when I got into the fight with Kai did, I remember.
“I would say we can go now but we still don’t know where you two met.”
“I know where it is.” Nyra spoke up, “It’s like a GPS was implanted into my brain. I can fly us there now.”
This was getting to confusing, “Nyra says she remembers now.”
“How is this possible?” Alvina asked, “She didn’t remember but suddenly she remembers. Are you playing us?”
“No.” I shook my head, “I’m serious. I don’t understand what’s going on. But if you don’t believe me don’t follow me. I’m going there now.”
“Now? It’s the middle of the party.” Zephyr says as Alvina crosses her arms.
“Yeah now. I don’t think I can stay in here a moment longer.” The walls felt like they where closing in on me
“How you going to get back to Ravenwood. We don’t even know where we are?” Alvina asked.
I shrugged as I glanced back at Kai. He was talking to some unknown person and he looked happy. I smiled a little and turned back to them, “I’m just going to follow my gut on this.”
“That’s not smart.” Alvina said. I shrugged and walked up the stairs. I’m getting some answers tonight.
