Chapter 54
Chapter 0054
Although Conrad heard Samantha calling his name, he didn’t intend to get up.
He simply tapped on the patch of weeds with his hand.
“The view here is great.” He narrowed his eyes in extreme enjoyment.
Samantha looked around the wide space that was around them. The glimmer of light coming from the pond was almost diminishing.
The scenery here was indeed beautiful.
With that thought, she sat down next to Conrad but didn’t lie down.
Conrad burst out laughing, seemingly laughing at her being cowardly. However, she pretended not to notice and continued enjoying the breeze by the pond.
She loved a sojourn among nature. The time when she could enjoy being alone was priceless.
When the Casseys came looking for the both of them, their clothing was already dampened by the dew.
Generously, Conrad had them prepare a change of clothing for Samantha.
However, she only changed into a new set of clothes but didn’t wash up.
At the dining table, Conrad didn’t say a word. Samantha, on the other hand, was
chatting happily with the Casseys.
When it was time for her to leave, she was still puzzled by what was on Conrad’s
mind.
Just as she put on her shoes to leave, Conrad appeared quietly beside her.
“Aren’t you going to say your goodbyes, Ms. Meadows?”
“I’m sorry. Thank you for your hospitality. Goodbye.”
Samantha’s l*ps curled up into a smile as she turned the handle to the door.

Conrad reached out first and held her by her wrist, but she managed to shake him off gently.
“Please mind your manners, Mr. Hayes,” Samantha said while maintaining a smile on her face.
As much as she wanted to get closer to Conrad, she wasn’t about to sacrifice herself for it.
He was too secretive. She wasn’t confident that she could figure out his thoughts.
Conrad paused, then laughed. Instead, he tugged at her sleeve.
He looked at her astonished expression and said softly, “Shouldn’t you also let Mr. and Mrs. Cassey know that you are leaving?”
“I’ve informed them earlier,” Samantha replied. In the face of Conrad’s persistence, she could only stand firm at the door.
Can you
She stared straight at him and continued, let go of me now, Mr. Hayes?” She enunciated the last two words firmly.
“Sure.” Conrad let go of her and then walked toward the garage.
Samantha stood at the door and watched him as he walked away.
She found herself gazing toward the gorgeous garden.
The flowers were still glowing beautifully under the dim moonlight even as the night fell.
Conrad opened the car door for her, like a gentleman would. Samantha blurted her
address in a string of words, and it made him smile.

“Cloudtop Villas and Ms. Meadows–such a perfect match. You really
extraordinary, Ms. Meadows,” Conrad complimented her as he started the car.
In the car, she pressed her l*ps together in the dark. It wasn’t her choice to have her
name changed.
She couldn’t help but speak up, “I am just a nameless designer. I’m afraid that you’ve
spent too much time on me, Mr. Hayes.”

Conrad shouldn’t be someone who was so approachable. The speed of them getting close to one another was out of her expectations.
“You’re such a straightforward person, Ms. Meadows. So am I.
“I was just looking for some company to come look at this manor. I wasn’t looking for anything else out of it.”
Conrad’s frivolous tone reminded Samantha of Francis. Although, Francis‘ light- heartedness never felt cold.
When they arrived at the main entrance of Cloudtop Villas, Samantha got out of the
car.
She watched as the silver Ferrari drove away, tugged at her coat, and walked in.
Sounds of cars coming and going came from the roads.
She was walking alone under the street lamps. So, she quickened her pace, thinking of going back to see Nathan.
However, a familiar Maybach stopped before her, blocking her way.
She stopped in her tracks, only to see Jude getting out of the car with a frigid expression.
“Ms. Meadows, you have been summoned to amend your design drafts.”
“It is past my working hours,” Samantha answered as she shook her head.
She looked toward the black–colored Maybach. It didn’t seem like Kendrick was in it.
“As you already know, this design draft needs to be presented during the meeting at
9:00 am tomorrow.
“The problem needs to be solved now,” Jude insisted with a smile on his face.
He opened the car door, indicating that she didn’t have any other choice.
Since it was a matter related to work, she stepped aside to give Francis a call and
then got in the car.
Most of the staff in the company had left. There were only a few employees from the design department and a few other departments who had stayed back.
As usual, the president’s office was brightly lit.
Samantha arrived within Kendrick’s expected time window. But, his face turned. gloomy once he noticed that she had had a change of clothes.
According to his instruction, he presumed that she didn’t make it back home.
“What’s the problem with my draft?” she asked with a serious expression while she walked in front of Kendrick.
She paid no attention to his expression. When she noticed the light coming from the design department, she gathered that there was really a problem with the draft.
He had some printed documents in his hand. He handed them to her with an icy
gaze and said, “Get it settled by tonight.”
Samantha acknowledged it, then sat in her seat and began fl*pping through the documents.
From time to time, she would glance at the original file on her computer and make slight amendments.
As for Kendrick, he had completed his tasks. He was observing Samantha’s every
move.
