No Escape From the Ex-husband by Summer Winters

Chapter 124

Chapter 0124

Francis stared at her, his eyes slightly dimming. Dispirited, he looked at Samantha helplessly.

He once wanted to help fulfill her dreams, but he knew everything Samantha had been through during her four years overseas.

She worked part-time jobs for meager pay to make ends meet. Not long after giving birth to her child, she was already struggling for a living. He stood by her side, impressed by her strength and courage.

The once beautiful and prestigious heiress of the Duncan family had now fallen into such a state. It pained Francis to see, but she didn’t need his help.

Samantha had a huge scar in her heart, all thanks to Kendrick. She had to do. something about it, but Francis didn’t want to watch her destroy herself for revenge.

How could he accept it if Samantha were to ruin herself?

Yet she had already made up her mind.

This was something he had known. However, seeing her situation, he couldn’t help but feel sorry for her, hence his words.

Now, he couldn’t find any words to say. He just stood there and stared at Samantha.

Both stood there awkwardly, especially Samantha. After a while, she finally managed to muster a smile. She looked into Francis’ eyes and suddenly chuckled.

“Francis, you’re not me. You haven’t experienced so much pain, so you’ll never

understand.”

Hearing that, Francis became anxious. Just as he was about to approach Samantha, she immediately stretched out her hand, filling the space between them. It was like. an unbridgeable river between them.

She closed her eyes and parted her l*ps. “Don’t come any closer, okay? Or else, I’ll look d-down on myself,” she said, her voice trembling.

Francis didn’t speak or move. Instead, he extended his arms, offering a hug. He even transformed the dumbfounded expression on his face into a smile.

But Samantha suddenly froze. Her loss of control earlier made it even harder for her to forgive herself now.

When her friend showed concern, she rejected him ruthlessly. How could she still face Francis’ kindness?

Noticing her silence, Francis sighed and lowered his arms. Smiling, he shook his

head and turned his cheek toward her.

“Forgive my frenzy, but can you k*ss me for once?” he asked, glancing at her.

“Francis.”

He looked at Samantha, only to see her frown.

After four years abroad, she returned with her goals and choices decided. There was

no turning back.

She sighed and said, “Don’t come looking for me again, okay? Your father made it

clear last time. As for Nate… when you want to see him, please tell me beforehand,

okay?”

After that, Samantha walked to her door. With a swift motion, she turned the key

and retreated into the room, never looking back at Francis.

She finally calmed down after coming inside.

“Mom, I missed you so much!” Nathan was sitting on the floor by the door, playing

with a toy car. When he saw his mom, he quickly put down the toy and hugged her

thigh.

She sighed, crouched down, and picked Nathan up in her arms.

“Were you a good boy at kindergarten today?”

“Yes!” Nathan grinned. Suddenly, he looked around and wrapped his little arms

around her n*eck.

Then, he cautiously whispered in her ear, “Mom, can you not let Aunt Alexis pick me

up again?”

Frowning, Samantha asked softly, “Why?”

“She drives too fast. I’m scared… and, you know, her cooking is terrible. Just now,

she broke a plate in the kitchen again.”

“Bad boy, Nathan, are you tattling to your mom again?” Alexis yelled at Nathan while

holding a frying pan from the kitchen.

Undeterred, Nathan snuggled in Samantha’s embrace, pouting. “Am I wrong? You

broke a plate, didn’t you? I heard it!”

“It was two plates, okay?” Alexis rolled her eyes at Nathan. Then she turned to

Samantha as though she were the homeowner. “How was your day, Samantha?”

Smiling, Samantha stroked Nathan’s head. “Nathan, go play.”

Nathan obediently got down, then stuck out his little tongue at Alexis. After that, he went to the sofa, wiggling his small bottom, and continued to play with his toys.

Alexis noticed a strange look on Samantha’s face and casually asked, “Was it bad? I

knew it. Did that Kendrick-”

“No.” Samantha interrupted her. However, she chose not to disclose what happened between her and Francis outside the door. He was being kind, but she didn’t

appreciate it.

Alexis stared at her skeptically. “But you don’t seem okay.”

“It’s nothing. Linda was fired from Ford Corporation by Kendrick today.”

“Well, that’s good news!” Alexis happily placed the frying pan in her hands in the

kitchen. Then, she suddenly remembered something. “So, is this matter over now?”

“No, Kendrick is still handling the plagiarism issue.”

“That scu mbag deserves karma!” Alexis exclaimed, then suddenly remembered

something else.
