I woke up, still having the bandage over my eyes. I tried to stretch but it seemed that trying to move any part of my back hurt horribly so I found a way to stretch my legs without it hurting. I wanted to take the bandage off my head but I felt around the wrapping before I did that and there was a spot right above my temple that hurt so bad I nearly blacked out just from lightly touching it.
After what felt like a long time I heard a door open and several sets of footsteps. Then I heard several clicking noises and someone started to talk.
“You, NightTide; Where are you from?” The man asked me, but I didn’t know; I wasn’t sure what to do so I shook my head. I wish I knew why it was impossible to speak.
“I see. If you don’t answer me then I will be forced to have my men end you where you lay.” He said it in such a horrible way, I tried to get up but it caused me to fall off the bed and hit the floor. It was extremely painful. I tried to force myself up and I managed to stand; It hurt horribly. I was leaning against the wall when he said something else.
“Hmm… You choose to move away from the threat; rather than attack it. Surely the injuries aren’t influencing your choices?” I heard him addressing someone else. “You and your men can leave. She’s not a threat, there’s no way she’ll be able to surmount the strength to harm anyone… yet.” I heard his footsteps come closer to me. I’m not sure how tall he was at that moment but it felt like he towered over me when he spoke. “NightTide. For now, you have proven yourself unthreatening, but this is one time of many. The more times you prove yourself as no threat to us, the more leeway you will have in the end. Right now, you are permitted to walk around in this room, as time goes on you will be granted more privileges; but you must prove yourself in that time. If you should prove yourself you will be joining the others.” After he finished his sentence, I felt dizzy and the pain started to fade away. That was when I lost my footing; before I hit the floor, I think he caught me, I don’t remember anything that happened right after.
