NightTide: The Girl With Red Eyes

Chapter Her... again

It wasn’t long before I didn’t need the wheelchair. They still didn’t want me walking around a lot but they said I could as long I kept a brace on my right leg. The thing went from the bottom of my foot all the way up my leg, it was uncomfortable; though at least it wasn’t that hard boot they used to have on there. Though I did walk with a limp having that thing on, it wasn’t easy to bend my knee.

Kayla and Owen seemed happy to see me on my feet at least, though they were way too eager to try and help me every time I lost my balance. I went to my bathroom and there was an outfit laying there like usual. This time was a little different though the pants were a bit baggier than usual, I guess it was so that I could fit them over the brace. They didn’t look much different but they felt roomier. I was starting to a get a tired of always wearing black though.

I came out of the bathroom and Owen was holding a clipboard, it wasn’t the first time but it doesn’t happen often so I found it odd.

He had a frown on his face, I don’t think he was happy. “Looks like they want to interrogate someone… I think it would be best if it was just me and Kayla this time Red, with your height and that obvious limp I don’t think you’d be able to intimidate them. You can still watch they have one-way glass in there.” He pointed out my height again...

Kayla didn’t seem anywhere near as down as Owen did about this, at least she didn’t seem cheerful about it. “So, does it say who it is?” Owen shook his head. “Alright then, I guess we’ll see when we get there…”

We stepped out of the room, on the way there Kayla made a joke about something called “The Three Musketeers”, I don’t know what she was talking about though; apparently, it’s an old book. Anyways we got to a door and Owen opened it, I saw a little pocket to the right and another door just ahead. I was told to go over to the pocket and there was glass there. The glass was black though so I couldn’t see through it. The Pathfinder was also there…

He was sitting in a chair with his legs crossed, he seemed rather comfortable with the situation. “Ah, hello Red. Why don’t you take a seat the glass will become transparent when they start. They won’t be able to see us, but please try to refrain from doing anything foolish with that.” Why did he say it like I was an irresponsible child? He let out a laugh, I guess I amused him a little with a small glare and he found it funny. Doesn’t really matter now I guess, but I sat next to him.

I heard them open the door, then there a was a lot of noise and loud slam that shook the glass, then the nose stopped; the glass cleared up and we could see inside. Owen and Kayla looked angry, they were sitting at one end of a table that had a large dent in the center and at the other end was… The girl that attacked me, she had a bloody nose and looked dazed. There was a collar on her neck and it looked like it used to have a chain attached to it, I think she may have been chained up but broke free; maybe she couldn’t get out of the room and attacked them when they walked in. That would explain the noise and I could guess that the dent was Owen or Kayla; or maybe both slamming her head onto it.

The Pathfinder let out a sigh “She’s a feisty one alright. That girl in there has been giving us trouble since we found her… I just can’t understand why she’s so violent towards us. Dam near killed the two officers that found her... It’s at least good to see that those to can deal with her. They work well together and Owens one our strongest soldiers here. Hopefully he can handle that girl’s abnormal strength.” He paused for a minute. “Red, are you okay? It sounds like you are biting down far too hard then you should be?”

He caught me off guard, I didn’t even notice I was biting down. After he said I also noticed my fist was clenched. I was doing this my chest felt tight and my felt pressure in my head. I’ve heard people talk about being angry but is this what it feels like?

The Pathfinder put his hand on my shoulder. “Is everything okay? You seem angry. Do you know this girl?”

I think this is anger I felt. “She’s the one that attacked me after I fell.”

He let out a sigh, “Are you one-hundred percent on that?” I nodded to him and he gave a nod back. He walked over to a button and pressed it. “Excuse me, Owen and Kayla.” They looked over at the glass. “It would seem this is the one that attacked Red. I’m going to need you two to get as much information out of her as possible.”

As soon as he let go of the button everything seemed to slow down, I saw raise his fist and slam id down on the table, the table seem to break and his was almost as red as my eyes. Kayla looked angry as well but her face wasn’t red. that made me wonder how much those two actually worry about me, I guess I’m usually pretty neutral about things but... Maybe I don’t appear to be confident about myself and they want to protect me… I guess I don’t really know.

For the first time, I saw fear in that girl’s eyes, I don’t know why but It felt good to see her scared.
