Chapter 250

Chapter 250

Ashley’s voice suddenly broke in as Sara and Lloyd were deeply engaged in conversation.

They both turned to see Ashley standing at the top of the stairs, holding a stuffed bunny. Her eyes were red with tears.

When Sara heard that, her heart skipped a beat. She stammered, “A–Ashley? Why are you still up? It’s late!” Sara saw Ashley’s reaction and wondered if she had overheard their conversation earlier.

“Mom, you don’t have to hide it from me anymore. I heard everything. Actually, Selina’s return to the Harvey residence is what everyone wanted. It’s great that you think so, too. She left the Harvey family mainly because she was jealous of me. We are daughters of the Harvey family, but our lives are worlds apart. If I don’t leave the Harvey residence, Selina’s anger will never subside,” Ashley said.

Sara replied, “Silly girl, how could you think that way? You’re both my daughters, and I can’t do without either of you!”

“Exactly, Ashley. Selina may seem cold and heartless, but she’s not the kind of person who holds grudges. Otherwise, how can she have many identities and become such a worldwide figure? You’re not the main reason Selina left the Harvey residence. Don’t take all the blame on yourself,” Lloyd chimed in.

Selina may not be a saint, but she was certainly not as despicable as Ashley described her. Lloyd, who had crossed paths with Selina a few times, was unsure why, but he was sure of one thing.

Ashley was speechless. She had not expected Lloyd to say such a thing. Ashley froze before saying, “Y–Yes, Selina isn’t the type to hold a grudge, but I still feel she doesn’t like me. I’m afraid she refuses to return to the Harvey residence because of me. Mom, Lloyd, maybe… maybe I should leave instead.”

That’s enough, Ashley. Get some rest. Don’t dwell on things that won’t happen. I’m going to rest now as well. Lloyd, you should also get some rest early,” Sara said.

“Okay,” both of them answered.

Ashley silently clenched her fists at the sight of Sara walking straight up the stairs.

She said inwardly, ‘Damn it! This tactic has always worked, but Lloyd and Mom are acting indifferently! Have I used it too often, and they’ve become resistant to it? Especially Lloyd. After being completely defeated and thoroughly humiliated by Selina, he was forced to quit the race in front of the media. He should be filled with hatred for that woman! Yet, he defended her. Has Selina somehow bewitched him and made him go crazy?‘

Ashley then had other things on her mind. She mused, ‘As for Manuel, he’s a big fan of Selina’s Angel persona. In comparison, Frederick has always been open to Selina and treats his sisters equally. By the time I can make a move, Frederick may have been swayed by the Harvey family’s influence and is working hard to rebuild his relationship with Selina.

As for Patrick and Joseph, even I find it difficult to approach them these days. If things continue as they are, my place in the Harvey family will only get worse. It seems I need to make some plans for the future!

The next day, after dropping Trevon off at work, Selina drove her Lamborghini to pick up Nora for a shopping spree. As soon as Nora got into the car, she looked at Selina and said, “Selina, before we go shopping, let’s go to this place to pick up a person. It has been arranged beforehand. Are you okay with that?”

Selina gently lifted Nora’s chin and playfully asked, “What would you do if I said I minded and wanted to steal some of your alone time?”

Nora responded, “Stop teasing me, Selina. You know this person, too. You’ll be in for a big surprise when you meet her. Just think of it as a surprise from me.”

Selina said, “You little rascal. Why do you make everything so mysterious? Fine, I’ll go meet this person.”

When Selina arrived at the designated place with Nora, she actually met a familiar figure. “Viola?” she said in surprise.

Viola, wearing a sun hat and sunglasses, was slightly surprised to see Selina and questioned, “It’s you, Selina? Why are you here with Nora?” Then she turned to Nora and asked, “Did you arrange this?”

Nora chuckled and replied, “Since you and Selina are practically family now, it’s no big deal to go shopping together. We’re all so familiar with each other, right?”

Viola rolled her eyes and complained, “Oh, please. I’ve been driven crazy by the Hudson family over this daughter–in–law. I finally found a chance to get some fresh air, and now you’ve brought this trouble right to me. If someone sees us and informs the Hudson family, I might as well accept my fate.”

Nora responded, “How could that be? Selina is smart and beautiful, and she has so many impressive achievements. If I were an elder in the Hudson family and knew that Trevon had married such a wonderful wife, I’d be grinning from ear to ear. Why would I make a fuss about it?”

Viola rubbed her temples and said, “You silly girl. The adult world isn’t as simple as you think. The Hudson family probably wouldn’t have been so

tense if Selina hadn’t been so capable. Anyway. Since we’re here, let’s go shopping. I need to ask her something anyway.” Then Viola turned to Selina, asking, “How many secret identities do you have, Selina?

“Oh? Why, Viola? Have you watched every episode of that variety show I was on? I didn’t realize you were paying so much attention to me,” Selina remarked.

Viola replied, “Enough with the jokes. Do I even have time to watch the show? My phone is constantly bombarded with news about you. Angel, Flying Shadow, Meteorite Queen, apprentice of the opera master, herbalist… How many other identities do you have that I don’t know about? Are you secretly also a legendary traditional medicine practitioner?

Viola would never admit it, but she watched all of the episodes of “Serenity of Rural Life” from beginning to end. She just loved watching Selina crush the villains and reveal her hidden identities. It gave her an inexplicable sense of satisfaction, and knowing that Selina was her daughter–in–law made it even better. Viola felt a surge of pride just thinking about it.

What surprised Viola the most was when Trevon came on later in the show and started to show his relationship with Selina. She always knew Trevon had treated Selina differently, but she had never expected that she could make him, who hated being in the public eye, change his attitude.

‘I should have realized sooner Selina is no ordinary person. With so many surprising identities beyond anyone’s expectations, it’s no wonder Trevon fell for her. He’s not just attracted to Selina’s looks but to her incredible talents as well,‘ Viola thought.

“Bingo, Viola, you’re so smart. How did you figure out that I practice traditional medicine?” Selina asked.

“Back then, when you immediately detected the deadly poison on Uncle Zachary, and considering the medicinal diet you prepared based on traditional medicine principles, I had a hunch,” Viola explained, inadvertently revealing another of her hidden identities. She couldn’t help but feel Selina was truly formidable. Nothing appeared to be out of her reach.

Nora’s gaze sparkled with admiration as she commented, “Gosh. Selina, you’re amazing!”

“All right. We’ll talk about it later. Let’s park the car first and then go shopping,” Selina suggested.

“Okay. Selina, how many secret identities do you have? Tell me. I’m so curious,” Nora urged.

After Selina and the others finished shopping, they went to a high–end Tospait restaurant for a meal.

“Selina, you know a lot about medicine, right?” Viola asked, carrying a lot of shopping bags while taking a sip of orange juice.

Selina smiled confidently and replied, “Of course I do, Viola. I have no reason to lie.”

“Well, my father… he appears to be in good health, but he actually has a liver problem. The risk of surgery is too high due to his age, and he has been reluctant to undergo surgery for fear that it could lead to even worse results. Even the most renowned traditional medicine expert could only manage his condition without curing him. If you can check his condition, maybe you can cure him, and then the Hudson family won’t bother you and Trevon anymore, and I will be relieved, too,” Viola uttered.

The next moment, Viola shook her head and continued, “Forget it. Even the best traditional medicine expert couldn’t help. No matter how skilled you are, you’re still just a young girl. How could you compare to a national treasure–level

expert? Just forget I brought it up.”
