Chapter 52 Because I Am Your Sister
"Are you sure?"
Pearl could not believe that. In fact, no one would.
"Of course." Nick said in a lower voice again. "There was an official statement released on Zellweger Group's new product website this morning. It's even the top trending now."
"How could it be?" Pearl took out her phone immediately. As soon as she opened her Facebook, it was filled with the news of Evelina losing her endorsement.
This drama was invested by the Zellweger group. It was normal for a company to invest before the filming began. However, this one was different, because Zellweger Group was the sole investor.
It meant that Zellweger Group would bear all the profits and losses of the play. Thus, anything that had to do with the drama was closely related to Zellweger Group's profits. Therefore, it was not unexpected that Evelina was the ambassador for that project.
From the perspective of income, as long as the Zellweger group saw the possible income of the play, they would fund anything necessary, including the female lead's publicity and promotional efforts. They spent lots of money on Evelina, and signing her as an ambassador would bring them the most profit. Unless her leading influence in the market deteriorated.
The official statement was only four sentences long and had Zellweger Group's official stamp. The reason for the termination of the contract was stated as due to personal reasons.
Nothing else. No wonder the fans and audience were talking about it.
"That's why Evelina was so angry." Pearl thought to herself.
"Dr. Yonng, did you eat breakfast? The prepared coffee. If you need, I'll fetch you a cup." Nick said from beside her.
Pearl stopped him, "I had already, thank you."
"Well." Nick spinned his eyes then said. "If you need anything, call me at any time."
Pearl frowned at she heard this.
"Dr. Yonng, if I've done anything wrong to you before, please foeget about it." Nick said.
"What?" Pearl looked at him in confusion.
"Nothing. I'm going back to work. Call me if you need anything."
Then he ran off, leaving Pearl alone, completely confused.
Ever since she came here today, all of the crew members were looking at her with strange looks. Most of them were trying to show kindness for her, which was the total opposite of their normal cold demeanor. What could have happened over a night?
Pearl had no time to think more. The director asked her to do professional guidance.
She had read the script of today's play before she came. It was a professional operation scene. However, it was just a drama. There was no way they could make it realistic, and it would have been too gory for the audience.
"Director, if the camera zoomed in on their hands, they would just know how to hold all the equipment properly."
"What if I need a shot where the female lead would be sewing up a patient?" The director seemed to be deep in thought.
Pearl frowned, "It's diffcult for regular people to learn proper suturing. It takes a long time to practice. Otherwise, doctors wouldn't emphasize practicing that."
"How about you try teaching Evelina and see how much she can learn. We only need one shot, and it won't take too long. As long as it looks professional enough and it won't be nitpicked, then that will be fine."
"I'm ok with it, but does your female lead want me to teach her?"
"I'll talk to Evelina. Don't worry, Dr. Yonng. Go and prepare yourself. I'll bring Evelina over later." The director knew what Pearl was worried about. "Alright."
Since the director said that it would be ok, Pearl did not say anything else.
NOW PLAY YOUR FAVOURITE GAMES ON
She argued with Evelina in public yesterday. She was beaten and everyone saw it. Up to now, she had not received an apology from her. It was impossible that she would let Evelina go that easily.
In the lounge, Pearl had a tray of surgical equipment in front of her. She was designing the procedures out according to the script when she heard a knock.
The knocks sounded very short and casual.
"Come in. It is unlocked."
The person who came in was Josie, Evelina's assistant. She just stood at the door and didn't come in. "Dr. Yonng, Evelina is ready. You can go over and teach her now."
"Ask her to come here." Pearl said.
"Huh?" Josie was stunned, she couldn't believe what she had heard. "Dr. Yonng, what did you say?"
"I said, ask her come to me. Didn't she want me to teach her professional plot?"
Pearl's eyes were fierce. She glared at Josie.
Josie trembled and replied, "Yes, I'll tell Evelina."
She was not submissive. It was not the first time that Evelina had embarrassed her. If she continued to let it go, who knew what else she would do. She didn't care about others, but this was her own sister. After a while, Evelina walked aggressively.
Before she entered, she yelled, "Pearl, what do you want?! Aren't you just a medical expert? Who do you think you are?"
"Please calm down, Evelina." Josie hurriedly closed the door behind her, so that others would not be able to hear her.
"Calm down?" Evelina crossed her arms and was almost trembling from anger. "It's obvious she's just trying to embarrass me and avenge. Do you think I'm a fool? Why should I listen to her?" "You're not a fool. But you still came, didn't you?" Pearl glanced at her lightly.
"You!"
"Apologize to me."
Pearl tapped her fingers on the table when she said that.
"What?" Evelina looked incredulous.
"I won't say it twice. If you made a mistake, you should admit it. If you hurt others, you should apologize. This was taught by our mother when she was still alive. Maybe you were too young o remember. So, let me teach you again."
"Who are you to teach me? Who..."
Evelina stopped talking at the moment she saw the scalpel was close to her neck. She forced herself to shut up and swallowed her words back.
"Dr. Yonng!" Josie covered her mouth with a pale face.
Pearl seized Evelina's shoulder with one hand and put the scalpel on her neck with the other. Her voice was icy, and she said word by word, "Because I am your sister."
Evelina could feel the cold blade of the scalpel on her neck. She was so frightened that her face was pale as a ghost and she couldn't even speak.
"Apologize, don't make me say it again."
