Chapter 233

Chapter 0233
No matter what, at least for tonight, Candice was grateful to Alex.
However, after she slowly walked into the ER department, she saw him. He had a registration slip
in his hand.
“Do you want me to accompany you?”
Candice hesitated. “How much? I’ll pay you back.”
Alex scoffed. “What are you thinking? I’m just worried that your entire family will come and blame me. So I’ve brought you over
for a check-up. After all, if I don’t personally witness the result, when you all claim anything later on, I’ll have to admit to it.” His
expression was cold. “After all, I have witnessed your family’s audacity.”
Candice pursed her lips, not replying as she took the slip and went to see the doctor.
She was in such pain from her shoulder that she was getting dizzy.
At night, there were fewer people in the ER department and the check-up was also quite fast. The x
-ray was done quickly and it didn’t take long for the results to come back.
Ivor’s punch had left Candice’s shoulder slightly fractured.
Candice’s top had to be pulled aside to apply some salve, and the redness and swelling were

shocking, with black and purple bruises in some places.
The doctor frowned. “How could you get such a serious injury as a woman? Even after ten days, I don’t think the swelling will go
down.”
Candice turned her head slightly to look at the shocking injury and felt grim.
Ivor had intended to kill.
The doctor was already very gentle when applying the medicine, but Candice still could not help but grimace. She could only grit
her teeth to hold back from shouting in pain.
After the doctor bandaged her, she instructed. “Don’t move this arm anymore. Try your best to rest, eat nourishing things, and
get your family to help you apply the medicine on time.”
After she finished speaking, she handed over the prescription.
Instead of handing it to Candice, however, it was passed to Alex behind her.
Only then did Candice realize he had been there the whole time. She was stunned.

“You’ve seen the results,” she said to him. “Give me the prescription. I’ll get the medicine myself.”
Alex’s gaze landed on the shoulder which was bandaged for a moment before speaking faintly. You won’t die if you don’t do it.”
He took the prescription and left. Candice could only follow behind him.

They had just arrived at the hospital pharmacy when her phone rang. It was Hanley.
Candice picked up the call.
“Where are you now?” Hanley asked. “I’ll come over immediately. I’m so sorry. I just finished a design and only just saw your
message.”
Candice knew Hanley didn’t check his WhatsApp much when he was at work, so she said, “Are
you still busy? The matter has been settled. I’ll go back to Northdale in a bit.”
Hanley was still making amendments to the proposal, but at Candice’s words, he started walking to his car, grabbing his coat.
“You’re still in the hospital, aren’t you? Wait for me at a place with people.”
Hanley was determined and Candice also knew that her own situation was not good.
She nodded solemnly. “All right, I’ll wait for you to come over.”
Candice had just hung up when laughter rang out from Alex. “You really know how to act pitiful.” Alex had a packet of medicine in
his hands as he looked at Candice in bafflement. “Just now when I stayed back to accompany you, why did you not have the
same attitude?” His brow raised as he teased, “Candice, you sure know how to play hard to get. Only a fool like Hanley would
believe you.”
