My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey)

Chapter 2132

After he said that, he laughed out loud.

The sound of his laughter was a little cold and sarcastic.

He then looked back at Matthew, "Matthew, I've already given you enough respect. I'm leaving now. Don't come looking for me about Yesseca in the future." With that, he turned to get into the car.

Matthew pulled Tremaine back. He stared at him with piercing eyes as if he was going to stare straight into Tremaine's heart. "Tremaine, give me a reason." "No reason." Tremaine replied, "I fell in love with another woman."

He didn't want to tell Matthew the truth.

He knew very well that in everyone's eyes, Yesseca was pure and kind. It was impossible for her to do something unreasonable due to jealousy.

He hoped that in the hearts of these people, they would always hold that impression of Yesseca, that it wouldn't change.

Since Matthew had still questioned as to why he had separated from Yesseca, it proved that he was still unaware about Yesseca's involvement in the incident.

He would rather be misunderstood by Matthew as a heartless man.

Moreover, from a certain point of view, he was indeed that kind of man.

He had slept with Qiana.

No matter whether he had been conscious or not, since it had happened, he would not defend himself.

Matthew didn't say anything more, he just threw another punch towards him.

Tremaine's head was knocked to one side.

Some guards were about to step forward, but Tremaine stopped them with his eyes again.

Tremaine didn't fight back like before.

He just wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with his hand and then got into the car with a sneer.

Matthew was about to give chase when he suddenly stopped as if he had thought of something.

That night, Matthew returned to Agaphen City.

Not long before he arrived, Yesseca and Kylin had just left.

Since Matthew wasn't home, the both of them asked about him. Selina eked out a lie that he was still at the company.

Fortunately, Matthew, who was the conglomerate's president, was usually busy, thus both Yesseca and Kyi in didn't put further thought into it.

After they left, Erine came forward with a question, "Mr. Whitlock came together with Miss Cowell again, I see?"

"Mm." Selina hummed a little absent-mindedly.

Matthew had yet to call back since he went to see Tremaine earlier that day. Without a clue as to what was going on, she see-sawed with the decision as to whether she should call instead or not. Just as she was about to take out her phone, Erine all of a sudden spouted out a sentence, "Miss Whitlock, do you think that this time it's possible between Mr. Whitlock and Miss Cowell?"

Selina's hand froze in mid-air.

She then looked at the servant. "Erine, do you think that they have a chance?"

Erine nodded, "I think it's possible, after all, didn't you say that Miss Cowell had broken up with that Nashaland's president? What's more, Mr. Whitlock still holds a torch for Miss Cowell, who's to say that they might not get together down the road?"

It seemed that in order to increase the credibility of her words, she added, "Miss Whitlock, didn't you notice? They come over together every night and go back together, so they might have even already made up. After all, they were in a relationship once, getting back together with an old flame isn't an impossibility."

Erine's words were like a stone thrown into the lake, which stirred up ripples on its smooth surface.

Selina put down her phone with a thoughtful look.

Soon after, Matthew came back.

He recounted everything to Selina, even the fact that Tremaine would remarry.

He wanted to keep it a secret at first, but he didn't.

After all, Tremaine's identity was not ordinary. If he wanted to get married, it would be made known to the whole world. Instead of letting Selina know what had happened then, it was better to let her know now.

Matthew had assumed that when Selina knew, she would have a huge reaction, thus he had already thought of ways to appease her. Unexpectedly, Selina listened without any interruptions.

She lowered her head and seemed to be in contemplation over something.

After a while, Selina raised her head.

Her face didn't reveal any form of extreme emotion.

Instead, she just reconfirmed with Matthew, "Tremaine is going to remarry? To another woman, I mean."

"Yes," Matthew replied.

"Did he fall in love with that other woman?" she probed.

Matthew hesitated briefly before he answered, "Yes."

"That heartless man," Selina sneered, but there wasn't much ferocity behind her words. "Now

Yesseca should be able to see clearly what kind of person

Tremaine is! And you, Matthew, to think you were the one who said he was good, that he was genuine towards Yesseca!"

Matthew pursed his thin lips.

Had he made a mistake?

However, he vaguely felt that this was not the case.

Previously when Tremaine was leaving, he didn't give chase because all of a sudden he felt that things weren't as simple as Tremaine said it was. However, it seemed that Tremaine would not be willing to shed any light over this matter.

"Matthew," Selina suddenly grabbed hold of his

arm, "Why don't we just let it go? If Tremaine wants to marry someone, let him do it. We won't get even with him. Let's just let this matter go." Surprise flashed across Matthew's eyes.

Before, Selina had been hopping mad. She felt that Tremaine had betrayed Yesseca and held a murderous air towards him. Why was she willing to leave it now?

When she noticed Matthew's surprise, she explained in a sweet voice, "This was something I just suddenly thought about. Tremaine breaking up with Yesseca might be a blessing in disguise to let her and Kyi in get back together again." Brine's earlier words served as a reminder for Selina about this.

At first, she had been obsessed over the fact that Tremaine had betrayed Yesseca. However, she had forgotten that it was because Tremaine had betrayed Yesseca that she would now be able to get together with Kylin.

Therefore, if they could successfully become an item, then that would be a blessing indeed.

After all, when the relationship between Kylin and Yesseca didn't work out, she had harbored some regrets.

Even now, she still felt that Kylin was far more suitable for Yesseca than Tremaine.

Matthew understood what Selina meant.

His eyes moved. He wanted to say something but in the end, he didn't.

That night was Zorion's birthday.

Dinner was a very sumptuous affair.

As soon as Tremaine came back, Madam Quartley began to praise Qiana, "Tremaine, look, the dishes on

this huge table are all made by Qiana. She said that it was her first time celebrating your brother's birthday, therefore she prepared a good feast for him this time."

Tremaine had no reaction when he heard this, but Qiana pursed her lips into a small smile as if she was a little embarrassed. "Madam Quartley, it was my pleasure. Besides, I had the time to do so." Madam Quartley responded, "What do you mean by you had the time? Who would be willing to go down to the kitchens and slave over the stove to cook up a feast when they are free? You're just too modest." Qiana smiled even more shyly.

On the other hand, Yuliana cast a cold glance her way.

She inwardly thought that Qiana was

pretty good at flaunting, to even

want to put on a good show on Zorion's Birthday. It was a good thing that Qiana treated her like a goddess, otherwise she would have lambasted her with a few snide words.

For Zorion, his birthday every year wasn't that much different than the other.

They just needed to dine together, cut the birthday cake, and make a wish.

Before his marriage, Zorion wished that he could become smarter.

After he got married, he wished that his wife would treat him well. It was the same every year, and it had never changed.

But when he made his wish this year, a figure popped into his mind.
