Chapter 713
Joe lowered his head and kissed Skylar deeply. The kiss lingered, stretching
on for a long moment.
When it finally ended, Joe leaned close to Skylar’s ear and whispered, “Do you
dare to fall in love with me?”
Skylar’s eyes widened in surprise. Already dizzy from the kiss, his question left her even more bewildered. But Joe didn’t wait for her response; he kissed her again.
Skylar thought she might have misheard him. After all, the male lead in the movie they had just watched had said something similar.
The following day, after breakfast, Skylar suddenly remembered she hadn’t contacted Charles in a few days. He had mentioned on WhatsApp that he was about to join the cast of a new production, landing the lead male role.
Although the film was female–driven and his part was more supportive, landing the lead male role was still a significant achievement. Charles was determined to make the most of this opportunity.
With that in mind, she called him.
Charles answered quickly. “Skye, I was just about to call you.”
Skylar chuckled. “Seems like we’re on the same wavelength.”
“Of course! We’ve been inseparable since we were kids. I always made sure to take you with me, no matter where I went. I never worried about Steven or Harvey, just you,” Charles said, unable to
resist joking around.
Then he got serious. “I’m heading off to do some filming in a few days. I’ll be away from Jipsburg for about three months. If anything comes up, just give me a call. If Joe gives you any trouble, let me know. Even though I’m an actor, I can throw a punch just fine.”
Charles might not match Joe in every way, but when it came to a fistfight, he was confident he could hold his own. If Joe ever hurt Skylar, Charles wouldn’t hesitate to confront him, even if it cost him everything.
Skylar laughed 70’s really good to me. to don’t worry. Take care on set, and if anything comes up call me first. Once fm less busy. I’ll visit you. Just focus on acting, my future Oscar winning brother
Haha! I’ll become an Oscar winner sooner or later! Charles was filled with dreams. It was the driving force behind his anticipation for the future.
Skylar was already shining in her field, and as her brother, he was determined to make his own mark.
Charles ended the call with a satisfied smile as his celebrity agent, Freddie Welch, walked in. Seeing Charles grinning at his phone, Freddie’s instincts kicked in.
*Are you dating someone? Don’t get distracted now. Your career is just starting to pick up. You’re about to join a new set, and the female lead is confirmed to be Felicia Ingram. This collaboration could boost your career.
There are already several projects interested in having you, and I’m
considering a few reality shows for you. A couple of appearances, and you might just break into the B–list.”
Charles‘ lips twitched. “What are you thinking? My focus is entirely on my career, not on love. That’s just a distraction.”
He was uninterested in romance. He had found relationships uninteresting from a young age. While he once thought they were a waste of time, he now saw them as obstacles to his career goals.
“Really? Because it didn’t seem that way just now. You were smiling so affectionately,” Freddie said, clearly skeptical.
The entertainment industry was rife with complications and temptations, and many people struggled to resist them. Competition was fierce, and if one didn’t strive for progress, they remained stagnant.
Freddie had high hopes for Charles, believing he could be the next Austin
Powell in the industry.
Charles’s lips twitched again as he explained, “I was just on the phone with my
sister. How could I not be affectionate with her?”
Freddie’s eyes widened in realization. “Oh, so it’s your sister! The one who’s an expert in identifying and restoring antiques.”
“‘Yes‘‘ Charles said proudly.
Relieved, Freddie was about to seize the chance to address his matters and enlist Charles‘ sister’s help when a phone call jarringly interrupted.
“Hello? Yes, this afternoon? Let me check Charles schedule and get back to you. Yes, he’s quite busy preparing for the new project. Okay.”
After ending the call, Freddie turned to Charles. “Felicia wants to discuss the script with you. She has some ideas about the male lead’s character, and Mr. Madron will be there too.”
