Chapter 31
Seeing Jerry looking pale and weak, Charlotte instantly couldn’t help having tears in her kneeled beside him and held his hands.
“Grandpa,” Charlotte said. She lumped in her throat.
It seemed that the hair on his temple turned white in a moment.
Jerry looked at Charlotte with his pitiful eyes. He asked her gently, “Is he nice to you?”
“Grandpa.”
She had a lump in her throat again.
He didn’t question her or blame her for anything!
eyes.
She
He just… had infinite concerns about her! After she received a phone call from Susan in the morning, she saw the news.
She thought everyone in the Sullivan family was sure to hate her greatly.
However, as she met Jerry this time, she realized what she was facing.
She felt upset and even felt it hurt to breathe.
Jerry sighed. “I fail to come up to your grandma’s expectation.”
“Don’t say so, grandpa.”
“Do you know why your grandma names you Charlotte? It’s because of your grandpa. She wants to remind you that marriage can easily fall apart. She hopes that you won’t view marriage as the whole thing of your life.”
The name Charlotte had a special meaning from a story, and it was a story of a girl named Charlotte who encountered separation with a positive attitude. Indeed, it was her grandma that gave her first name “Charlotte“.
It meant her grandma and her grandpa had gotten divorced since she was born, and it was the separation she encountered.
Charlotte was more upset! She choked up.
“You’ve done a good job, Charlotte. I know you have a good career and have a man being kind to you. I think he is better and luckier than Zachary!”
“Grandpa.”

“Dad!”
It seemed that Jerry didn’t hear their words.
He went on sighing. Finally, he said, “Since Zachary had no luck, why not get divorced?”
Charlotte didn’t know what to say.
Neither did Mary.
They looked at each other subconsciously!
Jerry always believed in Charlotte and Zachary’s marriage, even though he knew what happened three years ago.
He was reluctant to let Charlotte leave the Sullivan family.
However, he agreed to their divorce before he died!
“Grandpa.” Charlotte cried. She felt upset and helpless as if she returned to the moment when her grandma died.
Jerry and Charlotte had no blood relationship.
However, he was the one who always protected her before she found her grandpa.”
She always followed his words!
“You can leave now. Ask my lawyer, Simon Abdy, to come in!”
“You will be alright, dad,” Mary said nervously when she heard he wanted to see his lawyer.
She knew why he saw his lawyer at this moment.
She was afraid that…
“You can leave. Lawyer Simon has arrived here,” Jerry said.
At last, Mary and Charlotte left the ward!
As Jerry said, Simon waited outside. He looked at them and nodded his head politely.
Then, he walked into the ward.
“Nothing will happen to grandpa, won’t it, mom?” Olivia walked toward Mary and held her arm sadly and nervously.

Charlotte and Zachary looked at each other.
Then, they avoided seeing each other for the next second.
Simon came out in less than a few minutes. The doctor came out, too. “I’m sorry Mr. Sullivan shows no signs of life. My condolences!”
“Mom.” Olivia burst into tears instantly.
The corridor of the hospital was so cold at this moment.
Charlotte just felt it hurt to breathe.
