My Elf Soulmate

Chapter 6

After showering and dressing up I made my way to the kitchen to find Paxton already sitting on the chair looking at his hologram thingy again, but not even a minute after I had entered the kitchen Paxton took down the hologram and then turned to face me with a smile.

"Are you ready to leave?" He asked giving me a once over before he looked at me with a look of approval.

"Yep, I'm done, might I also add that the clothes are very nice and comfortable." I added liking the texture of my whole outfit. The material was so soft to the touch, definitely something that I would go for had I gotten the chance to while I was back home.

"Okay, so the thing is that I usually either run or I fly to places." Paxton said nervously scratching the back of his neck.

"I don't mind flying." I said feeling excited about sort of living out my childhood dream of being able to fly, even if I might not be doing it as a fairy.

"Are you sure...I could try to get you a car or something that you would be more comfortable in." He said looking at me with concern as he analysed me to make sure that I was really okay with this.

"I'm sure. It's something that I've always wanted to try out. This would be like me living out my childhood dreams," I reassured and watched as Paxton hesitantly nodded. "Great, so what are we waiting for then?" I asked rubbing my hands together in excitement, I was finally going to get the chance to do something that many believed was impossible, which it technically was until I had gotten here.

"Okay, let's go outside then, I don't want you to bump into things." Paxton said looking more unsure about letting me fly as the seconds ticked by so being the type of person that I am, I decided to pull him out of the kitchen and out of the front door before he changed his mind and ruined my chances of ever flying again. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I wasn't going to let his protectiveness get in the way of this chance. When we made it outside I couldn't help but to in awe at what I saw. The garden looked so rich and healthy, the were little flying people that looked like the pixie that I had seen before but they looked smaller than the pixie and they seemed to be doing something to the flowers in the garden. I also noticed that the were multiple butterflies in the garden, it all looked straight out gorgeous and dare I say magical. It looked like a picture that had come straight out of a story book.

"Your garden is gorgeous Pax," I complimented and turned around to look at the bright red-faced Paxton. "Ncooh," I cooed reaching out to pinch his cheeks only for him to swat away my hands making me laugh at his adorableness.

"Rosie, I might be in a small body right now, but I assure you that I am a fully grown man, and one that's much older than what you must think that I am." Paxton said puffing out his cheeks and folding his hands with his face still bright red showing that he was still blushing. I couldn't help, but quietly chuckle at Paxton but I raised both of my hands up in a surrendering motion.

"How old are you though Pax?" I asked him feeling curious. As an elf it was difficult to gauge his age while in human form he looked no older than 24 years.

"Let's just say that I'm a little older than what you have in mind right now." He responded seeming to shy away from the question a bit which just made me more curious.

"As your soulmate, I demand that you tell me your age." I said using the soulmate card and oddly enough it felt normal and right to use it. Not at all as weird as I had expected it to be. I watched as Paxton's whole face lit up which made me a little confused, what had I said that caused him to be this happy.

"You accept me as your soulmate?" He asked with hopeful eyes, eyes that I was afraid to let down, hopeful eyes that I didn't want to break, and lucky enough for me I didn't have to as a sudden gust of air swept me off of my feet. I yelped in surprise but before long I was placed back on my feet.

"I'm so sorry." I heard the sound of an apologetic voice. I looked in the sound of the voice and saw a small pixie with her head slightly bowed as she shook in slight terror.

"It's no problem, I'm okay, nothing is broken so don't worry about it." I softly said to the shaken pixie who seemed to throw a quick glance at Paxton before then she scurried away. I heard a sigh from Paxton which caused me to turn my attention to him.

"What was that about?" I asked Paxton.

"Us elves don't have a very good past and there are some people who fear or hate us due to such that past," Paxton partly explained. "I'll explain everything to you some other time for now we better be off before another incident like that one happens." Paxton continued.

I couldn't help but to flooded with relief and a couple more questions as Paxton seemed to conjure up a small bag of something. I was relieved because the whole pixie thing had helped me to escape those hopeful eyes that hoped for a positive answer from me, an answer that I wasn't ready to give out. What I was sure about though, was that I was curious about the whole elf history plus I wanted to ask why it is that Paxton and the other supernatural beings are putting their fate in an app that could easily pair them with an incorrect partner.

"I can tell that you have more questions." Paxton said looking at me with a knowing look.

"Yes, I do." I said with a nervous laugh at being caught out.

"I'll be happy to answer them if you'll tell me what they are, even though I can sort of guess where some of them may be coming from," Paxton said his eyes glowing as he began to float right before I saw a small bottle appeared on his hand, he popped open the bottle and gave it to me. I hesitantly took the small bottle and looked at it, not knowing what to do with it... or to be more precise knowing what I had to do with it but not wanting to do the things that needed to be done. "I assure you that it is not poison, I would never do anything to harm you, I promise." Paxton said looking a little sad at the fact that I was so hesitant to drink whatever it was that he was giving me.

Deciding to put on my big girl panties I closed my eyes and poured the drink into my mouth. I prepared myself for a bitter or sour taste but none of that came, whatever it was that I had just drank was completely tasteless.

"Okay so, what now?" I asked Paxton, just as I felt my body becoming lighter and lighter until I saw my legs lifting up from the ground. I tried to move my body a little bit to the right but I got a completely different reaction as my body seemed to drag itself to the front making me gasp at the surprising sudden fast movement.

"Be careful." Paxton said as his eyes seemed to glow even more and my body reached a complete standstill. I swear the suddenness of it all should have caused me to have a headache but it didn't come.

"Pax...why can't I move my body?" I asked Paxton as I tried to move my arm but couldn't.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that." He said just as I felt my body becoming light again but not as much as before.

"I'm guessing that you are the reason why I suddenly stopped moving." I said as I tried to swim in midair towards Paxton. I watched as amusement filled his eyes probably because of my new strategy for moving.

"Yes, I stopped your movements because I saw that if I didn't you were going to end up hurting yourself." He said still watching me as I finally made it to him.

"Why is it that I was able to sort of move this time around without floating all over the place?" I asked as I realised that my body was more in control when I 'swam' towards Paxton.

"I've restricted your body movement a bit," He explained as he gently gripped my hand, making shocks shoot up my arm. "We better be on our way if we want to make it to your Unicorn ride appointment." Paxton said as he gently pulled and guided me upwards and down a flow with other people.

"When can I start asking the questions that are swimming around in my head?" I blurted out and heard a melodious laugh escape from Paxton's mouth, making my stomach flutter with butterflies as I enjoyed his laughs as he continued to guide me. I actually believe that this was the first time ever since I've met Paxton that I had heard him laugh like this. It was as if he had been holding in this laughter for some time actually.

"I'm sorry about that," He said with his eyes still shining with the last glimpses of the laugh. "You can go ahead and ask, we're about twenty minutes away from our destination." He said with a dimpled smile, dimples that I hadn't realised that he had until now.

And like that, I asked more questions ranging from why I had seen no pictures of him and his family in elf form, to questions about his glowing eyes and he answered of course. Turns out the pictures were enchanted so that I would stumble upon normal human pictures that would not scare me as opposed to elf pictures which would have looked plain weird or scary to me. We then spoke about light things like who maintained his garden until we reached our destination.
