Chapter 18
"You know, I'm still curious as to how you look so young when you're so...grown up." I said to Paxton as we got into the car that would take us home. It's been three days ever since Paxton, and I said our confessions, and things have been going well. Paxton has recovered fully, thanks to being an elf, I suppose.
"It's in our elf genes, sweetheart, and after some time, your aging process will also slow down unless you reject me, of course." He said, cringing at the word 'reject'. It honestly pained sensitive he was to the word, even though I understood why.
"So I'll watch all the people that I love die," I said silently mumbled not liking the thought, but knowing that this is what a relationship with Paxton entailed, "Anyway for how long do elves normally live?" I asked.
"Between 300-500 years, there are some that live for less, and there are also others that live for longer." He explained to which I just nodded, I guess that there was no more for me to think about before I completely gave myself to Paxton. Not only would I most likely have to relocate to this world, but it would drastically change my aging progress as well. I wouldn't have the typical life that I had always thought that I would have. It was to be blunt scary.
"Don't worry, you still have a lot of time." He said, trying to reassure me as he gently rubbed my hand with his thumb. Looking at him, I could see that he was also worried, but it was for a different reason.
"I guess that you're right. Anyway, when we get back home, you need to go and take a nap. Those are the healer's orders." I reminded him and watched as his face dropped. I did my best to hold in my laugh at the look of disdain that was on his face. Poor guy had been doing nothing but sleeping ever since he had woken up. It made sense why he would be tired and against it now.
"But I feel okay, I'm tired of resting." He whined as he slouched on his chair, clearly not liking how the day would be progressing.
"Pax, there's something that I want us to talk about...rather the is something that I want to tell you." I said, the inevitable expression of worry instantly settling on his face and painfully tugging at my heartstrings. I really wish that we could have skipped having this conversation, but it was honestly inevitable.
"What's wrong, Rosie?" He asked, his eyes full of concern.
"Paxton, I'm going back home tomorrow." I blurted out, hoping that he wouldn't take the news too badly. Especially considering the fact that it wasn't forever.
"You're leaving me again?" He asked with such sadness and hopelessness fully on display as he looked into my eyes.
"Not like that baby, I'll be back. I just want to get some clothes from home, and I want to see my mother for a bit," I explained, cupping and caressing his cheek. "If it's possible for you to come then you are more than welcome to accompany me home," I explained and watched as he sighed and nodded his head, "Great," I said pecking his lips. "After your nap, we can talk about this some more." I said as I laced our hands together.
"I can probably buy or rent a house or an apartment near your place." He said, seeming more relieved to know that he could come with me.
"Anything that you can afford, baby." I said as we got off of the Flaxi and walked into the house. Happiness instantly bubbled up inside of me. We were finally back and healthy as ever. Nothing could have made me happier at that point.
"Will you be living with me on this visit?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"If you want me to, then I don't see why not," I said even though I already knew this was what he wanted.
"I want you to be with me for as long as you'll have me," He genuinely said with a straight face that showed that he was being serious, but the most prominent feature were his gentle, welcoming eyes, "Now come with me, I'm only going to rest if you'll rest with me." He continued as he pulled me towards the direction of his room. It was at that moment that I remembered that I had never been to Paxton's room until today. We walked until we reached the door that led to the room, and without hesitation, Paxton opened the door and led me inside his room. It was a beautiful room, with lime green painted walls, except for the windowsills which were painted using white paint. There was a dark brown bedroom study desk with a dark brown chair, the bed had a dark brown headboard and the cover of the bed was lime green and white. There was also a fireplace in the room, which I knew would be very beneficial in winter. It was a pretty beautiful combination of colours. Bright but simple, just like Paxton. It sorted him nicely.
"Your room is pretty cozy. It's not how I had expected it to be. Then again, I had no expectations for your room." I admitted nervously, chuckling as I sat on the bed.
"Thank you, my love. I'm glad that you like it, now let's take the nap that you spoke of." He said as he pulled me down with him for the nap. I let out a huff as my body bounced on the comfy bed, making a giggle slip from my lips.
"You know I haven't seen you in your human form in so long," I said out of nowhere as I ran my fingers through Paxton's soft hair, "I should have asked the Healer whether it is safe for you to transform into it anytime soon."
"It has been some time. Would it make you happy for me to change forms?" He asked as he looked at me with his big innocent eyes.
"You're making it sound a little weird now, but yes it would be nice to see you in human form unless you're uncomfortable being in it. I'm just worried that when we get to my world, you will have to be in human form for a bit." I explained.
"I know, and the beneficial thing is that you, being my soulmate has in a way, evolved my body to basically extend my human form time. It's practically adapting to you as my human soulmate, I can last for a bit longer than before now." He explained, he himself seeming happy about this discovery of his.
"That's great. You don't have to worry about timing out in front of people anymore." I said, knowing how much this had worried him before.
"Anyway, " He said before he transformed right in front of me. Where the laid an elf now laid a human. "Come, I want to cuddle," He said practically, whining as he pulled me into his arms. " I guess that this transformation is beneficial." He said before he pecked my lips and cocooned me. I sigh of what I could only identify as one of contentment left his lips as he tucked his head in the crook of my neck, his breath sending small shivers and tickling sensations to appear on the spot as they made their way down my spine.
"Is it okay for you to stay in this form while you're sleeping?" I asked, slightly turning so that I could somewhat face Paxton, who untucked his head from my neck and smiled down at me.
"It's perfectly fine. It won't have any negative effects on me." He said as he rubbed his nose against mine in an affectionate way.
"Okay, now it's time for you to sleep." I sternly said.
"Okay, I'll sleep, but under one condition," He stated making me laugh at how persistent he was being, but I nodded for him to continue, "You my little mate have to kiss me." He said with his face already a breath away.
"How about I kiss you after your nap?" I asked teasingly, knowing that he wouldn't agree to it.
"Then, I'm not sleeping." He simply said with a gorgeous smirk, knowing that he would most likely have his way.
"You're so childish, but just for today, I'll indulge you and let you win," I said as I reached out my hand and placed it around his neck tugging his face closer to mine, I connected our lips for a sensual passionate kiss. I let myself enjoy the molding of our lips and melted into the kiss and only pulled away because I was feeling breathless. "You're too needy." I teased as I ran my fingers through Paxton's hair and massaged his scalp, not completely removing my lips from his.
"I am, but it's only for you, my love," He softly said as he connected our lips once more. I let him lead the kiss until I pulled away due to the need to breathe. "You look so gorgeous when you're all flustered." He said as he seductively pulled on my bottom lip with his teeth.
"This form seems to be giving you way too much confidence." I teased as I wrapped my legs around his waist and pulled his face down for a peck.
"I thought that you had said that I had to sleep, yet you're interrupting that sleep." He teased even though anyone would have been able to tell that he was more than happy with this.
"You're right, well then, we've had enough fun for one afternoon, now sleep." I said with my own smile as I pulled away from
"Okay, let's sleep, but before we do, I just want to say that you look gorgeous right now." He said as he ran his thumb over my swollen lips, bit his lower lip and pulled me closer to him.
"Thank you, now stop trying to seduce me and sleep." I said releasing a laugh as I stuffed my face in his chest to run away from more kisses because at this rate, we were going to do more kissing than sleeping and that is definitely not what the healer had ordered.
"You're such a stick in the mud." He said, sounding playful and pouty.
"I know, but I'm a stick in the mud that you would never dream to replace." I said and listened to his melodious laugh, making me smile in the process.
"You've got me there, my little stuck in the mud." He said as he placed a lingering kiss on my forehead and pulled me even closer to him as if it was possible. With my head resting on his chest, my leg sprawled across his waist and his arms securely around me, I let out a sigh of contentment and closed my eyes. Before I knew it, I was out like a light with a big smile sprawled across my face.
