Avery’s pov
Defeat. Helplessness. Pain.
Those emotions run through me like a tidal wave, tugging on my last restraints to not give up. The earlier words of Xade promising to come pushed through, however the snagging of my breath from Kyan’s fingers around my neck made it impossible to grasp those words as my last hope.
I try to scratch at his hand that swathe around my neck like steel, but it doesn’t do much since I am losing all the little strength I had. The fear of how all this would turn out but into my flesh like little restless ants.
All I could do was have the tears of defeat roll down the corners of my eyes.
As the shadows of darkness creep closer to me, my breathing begin to slow with his eyes being the last in my vision. Kyan. A monster.
The noise around, which had only had been my struggle sounds and his grunts of anger and hisses, became deafening as darkness wrapped around me. However before I could fully go into my consciousness, a loud banging noise pierced through my eardrums followed by a very bone-chilling animal snarl.
It was the last thing I manage to hear before a wave of darkness consumed me fully.

Hearing her panicked voice blinded me. I’m driving fast through the streets, not caring that I was being reckless. I had to get to her. I had to.
The fear of not getting there in time. The chilling horror of not knowing what exactly Kyan was doing to her. F*ck! I slammed my hand on the steering wheel, my claws digging into the cover.
My gums ached as my canines push out. If someone were to really look inside the vehicle they’d see me shifting before their eyes. Thankfully with the speed I was going they’d not be able to really grasp what was going on.
My heart thrust against my ribs, my beast trembling to be free of my human flesh to hunt and to hurt the a*shole who dared to touch our mate.
Kyan.
I’ll make sure this time around he won’t be breathing when I’m done with him.
A snarl left my lips, my beast so close to the surface, my human soul withering away to the back. I try to ground myself, not wanting to expose myself to the humans.
I stepped on the gas, barreling through the streets. I get honks, curses flinging at me from every direction, but I don’t care as my main focus and priority was to get to V before the sick b*ta*d does anything to her.
It’s a good thing I was a bit closer. If was back at my penthouse I’m not sure I’d get here sooner.
As I skid to a stop beside the dorm building, I reach for my hoodie in the backseat and throw it over me in haste. Since my beast was challenging me to take the reins, my body was not all human.

The hoodie should be able to hide some of the visible signs. Flinging the door open, I don’t bother to even close it as I rush inside the building, pushing my hands in the pocket of my hoodie to block the sight of my claws coming out.
‘Don’t do anything to brash! I’m on my way! Xaden warned in my head just as I burst through the doors of the building. Someone lets out a surprised sound but I don’t turn to face them to see who.
‘He’s hurting her, we’re far gone from not doing anything. I’m going to make the f*cker pay!’ I snapped, blocking him off from communicating with me as I rush up the d*mn stairs with abnormal speed, but I don’t care at the moment as my focus is on getting to Avery as quick as I
can.
My beast is clawing at my insides and the pain is not more powerful than the pain of knowing that I may not have had time to stop whatever that b*stard is doing to her. I focus on my senses, trying to hear them. Trying to hear anything.
My beast nearly submerge when we cannot pick up her voice but instead, we can hear her faint heartbeat. Not thinking clear, I snarled, not caring when I used my unnatural speed and got to the room in seconds. I burst through the door and the sight before me made me lose any control I had of my beast and in seconds he rupture through my human flesh.
Fur, claws, sharp teeth. I am beast.
