Chapter 2 An Expected Encounter with That Man
Verena didn't argue though she felt a bit sad.
She took the porridge and was about to leave.
As she just left, Susan stood up and handed one of the suitcases to Queenie, "Pack up your belongings. Let's go away!"
"Mom, why?" Queenie was still stuffing herself with food.
"You have heard what the doctor just said! Eight thousand for a single day in the ICU! It cost three hundred thousand a month with the cost of surgery excluded! Perhaps five million couldn't even make it for a whole month!"
Queenie was rendered speechless.
"Now you have two options. First, just stay here. When all the five million is used up, both you and I have to go to get a job! The second option is that we will leave with the money! You can continue to study in college! And I will hire the best piano tutor for you!"
"Anyway, I am leaving! If you want to go with me, just pack up your belongings! If you don't, just stay with that bitch!" Susan said firmly.
When hearing that, Queenie hurried to say, "No, mom, wait! I am leaving with you!"
Of course she didn't want to get a job and live a life in poverty.
After packing up, both of them left.
As Verena reached the hospital, she hurried to walk out of the ward and trotted towards the ward.
However, she happened to bump into someone and then she stumbled down. The container was thrown away and all porridge inside was splashed all over on the ground.
"Wow, Lemuel, what a lucky day!" a mocking voice sounded.
"Shut up." Then another deep and hoarse but sexy voice sounded.
When hearing that, Verena was stunned. She could tell that his voice sounded quite familiar.
Then she raised her head. When seeing the man standing in front of her, she felt like being shocked by a bolt from the blue.
This man was wearing a tailored black suit, which nicely suited his tall and strong body. His face looked so perfect just like a masterpiece of statue. He was none other than the man who slept with her that night.
While this man was fixing his eyes on his own shirt, on the surface of which some porridge was streaming down.
He looked a bit annoyed. But he simply ignored her. Then he reached out his arm to Owen Martin with his lips pressed, "I need tissue!"
Owen smiled as his slanted eyes curled up, "Sorry, sir, I never keep tissues in my pocket."
"Owen!" a harsh warning could be heard as his deep voice sounded.
"Come on, don't be mad! If you don't believe that, you can frisk me!" his appealing face wore a smile as if he were waiting for his disposal.
At this moment, Verena finally collected herself. Her brain was about to explode.
She didn't expect that she would actually bump into him!
A simple glimpse at him would even remind her of the sexual orgy that night.
She was totally overwhelmed with embarrassment and shame.
Before they could notice, she supported herself up and was about to run away with her head down.
However, as she just took a step forward, a voice sounded, "Lady, please hold on!"
'What? No! I am not a fool! Why should I stop?' she simply ignored him and hurried to step away from them.
However, Owen suddenly noticed her weird reaction.
He squinted and stopped in front of her with a bright smile, "Lady, may I know your name?"
As annoyed as she was, Verena was getting a bit mad when seeing him stop in front of her, "Sir, if you have nothing necessary to talk to me, please get out of my way. I am in a hurry! Get out, okay? Do you hear me?"
When hearing that, Owen was rendered a bit stunned.
A moment later, he mocked frivolously, "Oh, what a pungent pepper-taste lady! But you have just ruined his tailor suit, are you going to simply walk away, my little pepper?"
Just as they all stood still and had no intention to give in, Lemuel Lawson stretched out his slender legs and strode towards them.
As strong and suffocating as he appeared to be, Verena's heart almost skipped a beat.
He fixed his eyes on her while squinting. His eyes looked so sharp that he seemed to see through everything.
Verena couldn't help keeping her head down and tried to avoid looking at him.
"We met before." His deep voice sounded slowly again.
He was quite familiar with seeing her figure.
Even the light fragrance emitting from her body made him feel quite familiar, which he seemed to once indulge himself in.
Verena pouted "Sir, don't you think your pick-up trick sounds a bit outdated?"
Lemuel raised his brows and looked around her from head to toe, "The night before yesterday..."
Before he could finish, Verena suddenly pounced on him and stripped the suit off from him.
"I will...I will give you back your suit after cleaning it!"
As soon as she finished, she hurried to run away.
Lemuel still looked emotionless.
However, when Verena just raised her head a moment ago, he suddenly squinted at her face.
He didn't expect that she was indeed the girl he slept with the night before. The girl who cost him five million!
Owen finally collected himself, "What a tough lady!"
Then he looked at Lemuel, the black shirt of whom was wrinkled. And so was his tie. He looked like being molested just now. Lemuel shifted his gaze and looked at Owen, who was gloating. Then he huffed, "Get over there!"
"Come on, sir! That's your dad! Not mine!"
"You love to meddle, don't you?"
"Lemuel, don't push me!"
"Just go to tell my dad to move out of the hospital! No matter whether he is sick or not, he used the wrong trick!"
Owen was rendered mad, "Lemuel! Don't push me! I am warning you!"
Lemuel rubbed against his forehead and looked idle and peaceful, "Just pack yourself up and get the hell out of my house! And go back to Britain tomorrow!" Owen suddenly got sober.
"No! I am going in! Just don't drive me out! I will be homeless! Don't be so mean to me!"
Verena soon got into the ward.
When hearing that they left, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She didn't want to recall any details of that night! Nor did she want to see him again!
She just wanted to forget everything about him and everything about that night.
She wanted to start a new life all over.
As she calmed herself down, she walked to the bedside.
Then the door was opened, Dr. Channing walked in.
When seeing him, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She was so afraid if it were the two men who walked in.
After checking her dad, Dr. Channing said, "Though he is still in coma, he looks good so far. Just get prepared. Your father needs another surgery tomorrow." "But, doc, the surgery was just conducted yesterday, wasn't it?"
Dr. Channing explained, "If we didn't get off the hemorrhage in his brain, he would have no chance to wake up again. Oh, by the way, there is one more thing!" Verena couldn't help feeling nervous, "What?"
"Don't be panic! I just want to tell you that you just pay the cost for today. So you need to pay off the following medical fee including the next surgery."☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
