Chapter 77 Feeding Medicine By Mouth, Extremely Gently
Hearing her slurred words, Euan's eyebrows furrowed and a deep frown appeared between them. What was Riley talking about? She was drunk into oblivion and now she started talking nonsense? Or did she have something to say to someone?
Who was that person?
Riley's stomach was burning with pain. She grabbed Euan's clothes with both hands and buried her face in his clothes. When she took a breath, she could smell the scent of tequila on his body. "Ha ha... I must be crazy... I always feel that the room is filled with his scent... You also smell like him... Melissa, you tell me, what should I do?"
Euan frowned again. He held her face with both his hands, trying to keep her eyes on him. Her eyes were completely out of focus and blurry as he asked, "Who are you talking about? Answer me." Riley smiled bitterly, "Melissa, I could hear his voice... ha ha. I really must be going crazy; I could actually hear his voice."
In that case, he was the person that she was talking about...
Why did he not know this at all? There had been no foreshadowing on her part as well.
Euan felt depressed and his mind was chaotic. He couldn't tell what was real and what was fake.
She said she loved him?
But then why did she sleep with someone else just after she got married to him?
If she really loved him, then why did she drug him back then and forced him to get into her bed so that later...
The methods that she had used on him again and again, it never indicated that she liked him at all... Let alone love him!
'Riley, how many layers of disguise are you wearing?'
He really wanted to tear her mask off to see what kind of truth she was hiding!
Just then, Riley's cellphone rang.
Euan frowned as he took her phone out of her bag. The words "Mr. Hardesty" were flashing on the screen.
His frown didn't disappear or deepen, but his finger uncontrollably connected the call.
"Dr. Watson, how are you feeling? Ms. Pouchain said that you went back by yourself. Can you go alone in your condition?"
The eagerness in his voice clearly showed that he liked her, no, he adored her.
"Mr. Hardesty, she is with me, I'm her husband. She doesn't need you to care about her."
The coldness in his voice flowed through the earpiece and William was still in KTV, tightened his fingers around his phone. It turned out that she was picked up by Euan.
William did not show any panic and smiled automatically, "It turned out to be Mr. George. I am Dr. Watson's leader and I was the one who brought her out tonight. She was happy when she came but seeing her leave sadly, naturally I had to ask."
Euan said expressionlessly, "Whether she is happy or not, it's none of your business. These are all things that her husband can take care of. So, goodbye."
"Wait."
William hurriedly interrupted Euan just as Euan was about to remove the phone away from his ear to hang up, and said, "She has an injury on her hand. She assisted in two surgeries today, so she might experience some discomfort in her hand. If possible, please give her a massage."
He was concerned about her so meticulously.
It made Euan ashamed.
"Okay."
This time, his voice wasn't as cold as before.
Euan raised her hand. Because she hadn't performed a surgery for a long time and there were no traces of suture marks on her fingers. The slender fingers of her soft hands were very comfortable to hold.
He had never looked at her hands carefully before, and he liked it a lot.
Almost instinctively, Euan, who had no experience in massaging, squeezed her hands and kneaded it gently.
Thinking about it, it wasn't just her hands that he hadn't paid attention to. In the last three years, he hadn't paid attention to her work or life or anything else about her.
Faintly, he felt he had a heartache.
He really needed to investigate about last five years, everything about her and the words she just said.
If he didn't check, she would never tell him anything directly with that nature of hers.
The Rolls Royce arrived at the villa and Euan got out of the car, holding Riley in his arms. The lights on the second floor of the villa were off and the lights in the first-floor living room were still on. The bright chandeliers spilled large fragments of light among the shadows, making Euan's entrance hard to neglect.
His only audience was Lydia.
"Euan, you are back finally!"
Euan frowned and responded indifferently, "Go upstairs and sleep."
Lydia saw the woman he was holding in his arms and her blood boiled with hatred, "Euan, I have been waiting for you."
"Did I tell you to wait?" Even though the anger in his cold voice couldn't be heard but he was obviously displeased.
Knowing that she couldn't dare to refute, Lydia glared at the unconscious Riley and muttered in a low voice, "I knew you were a slut but you are also a drunkard!"
Euan ignored her, not approving her attitude, but he was feeling disdainful and was not in the mood to say anything about it.
Holding Riley, he walked into the bedroom on the first floor, opened the summer quilts and placed her on the bed. He propped himself on the side of the bed with one hand and stared at her face, "Would you like some water?" Euan couldn't believe that this voice just now was his own!
Riley hummed faintly. The pain in her stomach made her whole upper body cramp; her hands were clasped firmly on her stomach and her legs were folded, making her curl into a ball.
'This doesn't work; she is in too much pain.'
Euan rubbed on her belly with his big warm hands but it didn't seem to relieve her pain.
He found a tablet for relief of hangover in the medicine box. He brought the tablet with water and tried to help her up, "Take the medicine! Drink this and you'll feel okay."
Riley just frowned, whether because of the pain or alcohol, she was completely unconscious.
Euan's eyes searched her face for any recognition, but then he simply put the tablet in his mouth. After taking a mouthful of water, he kissed her on the lips and poured the bitter water into her mouth little by little.
The dissolved bitterness of the tablet fluttered between his teeth and lips, but he only had eyes for Riley and couldn't even feel the bitterness of the medicine.
Riley was unable to swallow and suddenly coughed violently. Euan patted her back and help her breath return to normal.
Finally, it took more than half an hour to feed her the medicine like that. Euan sighed in relief, helped her lie on the bed again and pulled a corner of the quilt to cover her abdomen.
After finishing everything, he closed the door reluctantly.
In the bedroom on the second floor, Lydia had just finished her conversation with Jeanne. Jeanne had told her in advance that Euan had taken Riley away, but she had not expected such result.
Lydia thought that Euan would come up to sleep and waited for a long time but Euan didn't come.
In the study.
Euan turned on the computer while holding a glass of light vodka in one hand.
The video call was connected to show a man who looked handsome and young but also a bit frivolous.
"Wow, you took time out of your busy day to call me? What happened? Did you miss me?"
Aiden Gibson smiled mischievously and joked to his good friend of many years. Even though he joked, but he knew that Euan was the kind of guy who only called him when he needed help, and getting his call at midnight according to Chinese standard time he knew Euan had a pressing matter to discuss.
Master from the Gibson family, who was far away in New York, leaned on the lounge chair besides the pool, waiting for Euan to burst out.
Euan picked up the glass of vodka with his long fingers and took a jittery sip, "When will you return? I need your help for something." 'You see! I knew it!'
"I have no plans to return at this moment, but I can make an exception for you. But at least, you have to tell me what is it about?"
Aiden asked directly without beating about the bush in front of Euan.
Euan frowned, his deep eyes filled with complex emotions, "Do you remember Riley Watson?"
Aiden's handsome face changed suddenly as if he had swallowed a fly, he jumped almost breaking through the screen, "Damn! Isn't the one who I knew... Uh! The one who made you fall?"
Euan frowned again, "Yeah."
Aiden coughed awkwardly, "What happened? Are you still in touch? After all, it has been three years, wait... it will be four years in two months. Damn! A person like you who is so fickle in love... You still remember what happened four years ago? when did you become so nice?"
Euan took another sip, "Don't talk nonsense. I need all of her information, all of it."
Aiden tapped the armrest of his chair, "All? It won't be easy..."
"If it was easy, would I have to come to you? I need the answers as soon as possible. The sooner the better!"
Aiden was smart. According to Euan's tone and looking at his expression, he guessed eighty to ninety percent, "Fuck! Euan! Don't tell me... Do you fall in love with this woman? You are scaring me!"
Euan George! There had never been a lack of beauties around him, but he had never been with someone for a long time. Lydia he knew was obviously just a side character in a large cast; and as for other girls, they were not even worth mentioning.
Everyone said that Euan was born as a playboy who only broke women's hearts; he will never actually care for a woman in his entire life. If fortune tellers had seen him, they would have said that his appearance and mannerisms said that he was born to live alone. However, now Aiden found out that Euan was in love!
Euan frowned and narrowed his sharp eyes, "I may have made the most impulsive and wrong decision in my life."
Aiden Asked nervously, "What decision?"
Euan closed his eyes and paused, preparing him for the surprise, "Three years ago, I married her."
There was silence on the other side as Aiden looked horrified.
The glass of cocktail fell down from Aiden's hand and smashed on the floor.
"You... You... What are you talking about? You... You actually got married? Fuck! You were playing around with secret marriages and I didn't even know! Oh my god! Three years! And I didn't know anything?" Aiden wailed.
Euan said coldly, "Stop howling! You know it now. Originally, I was going to keep it hidden from you forever."
Aiden felt betrayed by the whole world! So, he was still not considered a close friend!
"Wait a moment, let me drink some wine to get over my shock..."
He felt sick with shock.
"So, what do you want me to check? Your wife's details? Why didn't you check it when you got married three years ago? Now everything had happened, only now it is occurring to you to check?"
"Stop talking nonsense. Do this for me." Euan didn't want to wait. He wanted to know everything right now!
Aiden was irritated and gulped down a large glass full of whiskey, "But right now, the news is going crazy about you and Lydia, saying she is pregnant... And you... you actually make her get pregnant! What are you going to do? Marry her?" Euan frowned, "Her?" he snorted coldly, "Lydia's existence only made me surer of one thing. After this matter is resolved, her staying or leaving is only going to be a word from me."
Lydia should have known the seriousness of her actions when she took the initiative to conceive. He was generous with her and spent a lot of money on her, but it didn't mean that he was willing to love her.
"Huh, as I expected, that innocent faced manipulative bitch is just going to end up and become the cannon fodder. Wait a moment, you still haven't answered me. Are you in love with Riley?"
Euan drank the vodka in one shot, looking painfully gloomy and clutched the Hermes glass tightly in his hand. His dark pupils expanded and then contracted as he pondered. After a long inner struggle... "The second wrong thing that I did is maybe that... I really fell in love with her."
