Chapter 14: Accusing Her
Sandra walked into the mall, intending to wander around casually.
It was a bustling area in Geniston with a wide variety of goods for
sale.
As she walked past a jewelry store, the saleswoman immediately started to promote and pull her into the store.
“Miss, take a look at this. It’s our newly released gold earrings. They are embedded with jade, understated yet luxurious, very suitable for
you.”
The saleswoman prepared to help her try them on.
Sandra waved her hand.
“I’m just browsing. You don’t have to follow me.”
The saleswoman looked her up and down.
A trace of disdain appeared in her eyes.
She thought Sandra couldn’t afford the earrings.
She regretted wasting her breath.
Naturally, she didn’t want to waste time on Sandra and went to serve
other customers.
After browsing for a while, Sandra saw a pair of pure gold earrings.
The store was quite large and divided into three sections: inner, middle, and outer.
The more valuable items were displayed in the inner section.
The prices in the outer section, where Sandra was, were more affordable and accessible to ordinary people.
Angela, in the middle section of the store, chose several sets of jewelry and pouted, “You guys are so slow with your new releases. I’ve been waiting forever.”
The saleswoman looked at the items Angela chose and calculated her commission with a happy smile.
“Ms. Cooper, rest assured, as soon as new designs come out, we will let you choose first.”
Angela nodded and prepared to leave.
But just as she reached the middle section, she saw a familiar figure.
Her face immediately darkened.
It was none other than Sandra, who had just married Wesley and embarrassed the Cooper family.
Sandra was her sister–in–law.
But in her heart, her sister–in–law should have been Emily, who grew
up with Wesley, not this country bumpkin!
Every time she saw Sandra, she couldn’t help but think of Debra and Hailey being humiliated. It made her furious.
She gritted her teeth and pulled the saleswoman over, “Do me a favor.”
As Sandra was selecting items, the saleswoman approached with a
tray.
On the tray was a rose–shaped brooch made of pure gold.
“Miss, this brooch matches your outfit today. Would you like to try it
on?”
Sandra’s gaze fell on the brooch.
She was a picky person and wouldn’t spare a second look if she didn’t like something.
The design of this brooch was very appealing and, as the saleswoman said, it suited her outfit today.
She casually picked up the brooch and took a quick look.
“It’s really nice. How much is it?”
The saleswoman glanced at it and said, “It’s 103,000 dollars. Cash or
credit?”
Sandra had planned to pay by credit card, but she hadn’t expected to make any major purchases today and didn’t bring her card.
“Send it to the Cooper Villa. You’ll be paid there.”
Large stores usually offered home delivery.
They could even bring a variety of items for regular customers to
choose from.
The saleswoman frowned in a dilemma.
“And you are…
“Wesley’s wife.”
Naturally, the saleswoman knew Wesley, who had been in a vegetative state for years.
But…
She said tentatively, “Miss, I’m sorry.”
Sandra frowned.
“I don’t know you, and you can’t identify yourself.”
Sandra had no strong desire to purchase, so she put the brooch back after hearing this.
“I won’t take it then.”
After saying that, she glanced at her watch. It was about time to go to her own store.
“Wait!”
The saleswoman suddenly grabbed her wrist. “You can’t leave!”
Sandra narrowed her eyes. “What are you doing?”
The saleswoman shouted, “You’ve damaged this brooch. You must buy it.”
With that, she held up the brooch.
Sandra noticed that one of the hollow leaves on the brooch was bent. It didn’t affect the overall look from a distance, but up close, it lost some of its beauty.
This was a large mall with many people coming and going. Now that there was a quarrel here, it quickly attracted a crowd.
Sandra was certain that when she returned the brooch, there was no sign of any damage.
And now the saleswoman was accusing her of damaging it?!
As more and more people gathered, someone spoke up.
“I know who she is. Don’t you remember Mr. Cooper’s fiancée?”
“Emily Hill?”
“No, she’s Sandra Hill. In order to marry Mr. Cooper in place of Emily, she pushed Emily out of the car, and Emily was nearly disabled!”
Sandra looked towards the women who were talking.
They were clearly intentionally trying to provoke her.
Sandra shot them a fierce glance.
The two women immediately fell silent.
Because there were quite a lot of people watching, David Martin, the store manager, hurried over from the office.
After learning about the situation, he politely looked at Sandra.
“Mrs. Cooper, this brooch is not expensive for the Cooper family. Since you damaged it, we hope you can purchase it and not put us in a difficult position.”
The saleswoman rolled her eyes. “Mr. Martin, maybe she can’t afford
it.”
David scolded her.
Then he looked at Sandra gently.
“Mrs. Cooper, if you don’t have enough money on you right now, you can leave something as collateral and have someone bring the money later.”
Just then, the door of the middle section opened, and Angela sneered.
“Sandra, I can’t believe you can’t even afford a brooch! It seems Wesley doesn’t like you that much. But since you’re my sister–in–law, as long as you ask, I can lend you the money.”
It dawned on Sandra.
She knew she had been set up, but she didn’t understand why the saleswoman targeted her.
Upon seeing Angela, she understood what had happened.
Sandra sneered and looked at David.
“If I damage this brooch, I will pay for it. But before I do, have this saleswoman explain the situation.
“It’s better to make things clear. You don’t want to wrongly accuse a
customer, right?”
David nodded and turned to the saleswoman.
The saleswoman had long prepared her statement and said it quickly and elaborately.
As soon as she finished, Sandra asked in a soft voice.
“According to what you said, I took the brooch with my right hand, right?”
“Yes!”
“And my left hand hasn’t moved at all?” The saleswoman confidently replied, “Yes!”
asually.
