For the following days, Grant remained absent, and I made no inquiry. Silently, I contacted my friends to retrieve the wedding invitations, the scent of impending nuptials now a sickening reminder of his betrayal.

Grant had favored a small gathering, inviting only those closest to us. They were shocked by my actions.

memorial service.

Upon arrival, we heard a piercing wail."Grant..."

Wanda, clad in black, collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down her face. "Wanda!"

Grant rushed to her side, gently cradling her. Without looking up, he stated," Remain here, human. I shall attend to her."

mate?

Watching his tender concern, a chilling thought pierced me. Was Wanda his...

My former self would have unleashed a torrent of rage. But I was no longer that naive girl. I simply glanced at them before turning and walking away.
