Chapter 13 Meeting Igétas
He is standing so far away, but his stare is vigorous. Forceful, like he is pulling me to him. He looks so strong and big. I thought I had seen some big werewolves but this man, this rogue they forgot to slaughter, is huge. He starts to walk towards me, and my heart beats harder.
“Amanda,” I whisper and pull her shirt, my eyes not leaving his. “The rogue, you can see him, right?”
He is moving faster, locking me in place with his stare. “What rogue?” She looks at the man who is approaching me. He starts to run, and before Amanda can say something, I turn and run back to the hospital.
“Igétas, what are you doing? You are scaring her!” Amanda calls, but I don’t hear it. My heart is pounding in my ears, and my breathing becomes shallow. I open the door with a big shove, and before I can scream for help, he tackles me to the ground and is on top of me. Not crushing, but he presses his body to mine. I close my eyes, hoping this isn’t happening. After this week, after everything I experienced today, it is getting worse.
I hear people talking and yelling, but I can’t concentrate on them. I can only feel his face in my neck. His nose going up and down my collarbone, to my ear. I wait for his wolf to come out and kill me.
I don’t know how long I lay on the cold hospital’s ground. My body is shaking like it usually is if I am scared, no Luna-Courage to help me.
Something is happening; the voices are getting louder. I feel like I’m underwater, trying to focus on my surroundings.
“Igétas, get off her!” Oliver demands. I open my eyes and see a group around us, with Oliver at the front.
“Oliver,” I wail, and the man they call Igétas growls so loud that I think I just became deaf.
He finally takes his face out of my neck and stares into my eyes. His green eyes are piercing and strangely calming.
“Mine,” he says and goes back to his possessiveness with his head buried in my neck.
“Get the Alpha!” Oliver yells, and four people take off. Maya comes running to Oliver, looking shocked. If I glance at the other people’s faces, I see the same reaction.
With asking eyes, I look at the mother and son, trying to know why they seem so stunned.
“What is this?” I ask quietly and raise my hands to Igétas on top of me. The naked man isn’t moving and looks like he will not any time soon. I am still scared and have no idea what is happening.
“Answers and more questions,” Maya says and makes room for someone to enter the little circle around Igétas and me.
The Alpha comes through and also looks shocked. I feel power radiating off him, so strong, and with a booming voice, he commands Igétas to stand. With a growl, he stands up, but not without me. He pulls me to his bare skin and plants me before his chest. Two big arms surround my waist and shoulders, like he is scared of me disappearing.
“Mine!” he says again. I get a feeling that he isn’t a man of many words.
The Alpha and the rest are standing a couple of steps away.
“Yes, she is yours,” the Alpha is calmly raising his hands, trying to convey that he doesn’t mean any harm. Those words make me fearful. Is he giving me to this psycho?
I think Igétas smells my fear, because he tries to relax me rubbing my arm. Of course, it probably won’t work if your captor is the one trying to calm you down.
Confused, I watch Oliver, a tiny smile forming on his face.
“Can someone tell me why this man is holding me?” I ask the crowd, who still looks mesmerized.
“He is claiming you.” The Alpha answers as if it is the most normal thing to do.
I start to cry, and Igétas kisses my cheek. I flinched, and he shushed me. I try to break out of his arms. He is too strong.
“Don’t be scared Violet, his nature is more in control than his mind.” It is Maya that tells me this and it isn’t helping.
I take a deep breath and try to look at this weird scene with a different angle. I am in the arms of a strong werewolf/naked man, and the rest of the details are not clear to me. Today I faced death, and now I have no idea what’s going on.
I start to laugh, feeling my sanity slipping away. I feel the man relax.
“I don’t know anything, geen idee wat er aan de hand is.”
I see the worried looks, the Alpha takes a step toward us. Igétas tenses right away.
“Tharros, she is mine!”
“Relax, brother; no one is going to take her away from you. There is one question I want to ask you though. Are you sure? Can you smell she is human or is your wolf tricking you?”
Igétas tenses further, growling. “Are you insulting me, little brother? She is my mate.”
Mate? “Wait, what is happening? I am not…”
“Yes, you are.” The stern voice above me says.
This is the first time he is addressing me. “Can you let me go?” I ask nicely. He doesn’t respond.
“I want you to let me go.” I say sternful, seeing the nice approach didn’t work out.
I feel his lips by my ear, “please don’t run.” He pleads and I nod my head.
He lets me go, and I take a slow walk towards Oliver. Igétas growls as soon as I step into his embrace.
“I know she is yours Igétas, but she needs a friend right now. You scared her. Look at her.”
I hide my face in Oliver’s jacket and cry. It is just too much for me.
“Ik kan dit niet meer. Ik ben zo moe.” I say tired, not trying to translate the words.
“It is okay,” I feel the hand of Maya on my back, “just relax, Igétas doesn’t want to hurt you.”
“Of course not!” the words leaving his lips with much force. I flinch again, and Oliver sighs.
“Relax a little.” Maya unwraps my arms from Oliver, and I feel a prick as I look up at her. She looks guilty. “I think you need this, dear.” I feel my eyes closing, and Maya picks me up and carries me. I start to lose consciousness and go to sleep.
Sleep, I need it after today. Sleep, I want it after today. Sleep to extract me from my current life.
I welcomed it. I need today to be over... and fast.
That’s why I don’t try to stay awake and let sleep take me.
