Chapter Sworn Enemy Novel 77
Chapter 77: A Changed Man
Something was wrong. Henry couldn't have forgotten his fiancée, the woman with whom he was involved in the car accident. Unless he'd suffered brain damage....
The next moment, she was lost in a passionate embrace, her thoughts consumed. He was drunk, his cyes filled with a raw, desperate intensity that frightened her. Afterward, Sonya felt utterly exhausted, while Henry slept soundly. She cleaned herself up. Back in bed, she watched him sleep.
Had he truly forgotten Jasmine Smith, or was he... lying? Lying to everyone. The next morning, Henry woke her with a kiss.
"Mmm, husband," she mumbled sleepily.
"Sweetheart, I have to go to work."
"Mm." She didn't want to open her eyes.
"Dinner out tonight?"
"Okay."
"Go back to sleep."
Sonya turned to sleep, but he returned and kissed her again. She loved his scent - a clean, cool fragrance.
She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck, returning his kiss.
"I don't want to go to work today," he murmured against her nose.
Sonya patted his shoulder. No slacking. Go to work."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Sonya laughed."Little Huazi (Little Huai)."
"Am I a eunuch?"
He started to undress her, wanting to prove his virility. Sonya quickly begged for mercy.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Henry kissed her forehead. "Was I drunk last night?"
Sonya's heart leaped. She opened her eyes and looked at him.
"You don't remember?"
Henry shook his head. "I only remember drinking a lot with Jay, talking a lot. But I don't remember what we talked about, or what happened afterward." Sonya looked into his eyes, holding his gaze for a long moment, then smiled. You came back and went straight to sleep. You didn't say or do anything." After Henry left, Sonya didn't go back to sleep.
She noticed bruises on her hips - from Henry's grip last night.
His
eyes had been so dark, so cold, his touch so rough.

For a moment, she felt like he wasn't himself.
Downstairs,
Henry had made breakfast, keeping
in
rice cooker.
While eating, her thoughts kept drifting back to Henry. Leo Jones called, asking if she'd contacted Lily Lane.
"No. What's wrong?"
"Bro Jake and I called her a couple of days ago, inviting her for drinks. We couldn't reach her. Bro Jake was worried, so I went to check on her yesterday. It seemed like no one was home. I called again this morning, still nothing. Sonya felt a knot of worry.
"I'll call her now."
She called Lily Lane, but her call was cut off. The same thing happened again, then her phone went straight to voicemail.
She had a bad feeling and changed clothes, going to Lily Lane's apartment. Lily Lane was staying at Leo Jones's vacant apartment downtown. Sonya rang the doorbell repeatedly, but no one answered. She knocked forcefully.
"Lily, are you home? Whatever's wrong, well figure it out together! Open the door!" After a long time, the door opened. Lily Lane was pale, her eyes trembling violently, as if terrified.
"I... I'm fine. I'm just tired. I don't want to be disturbed."
Let's talk inside..."
"No, just go. I... I want to be alone."
Sonya stared at her. Something was definitely wrong.
"You..."
"Sonya, please, go." She was close to tears.
Sonya glanced behind Lily Lane, and her pupils constricted.
"Okay. Get some rest. I'll check on you later."
"Okay, okay."
Lily Lane quickly shut the door. Sonya paused, took out her phone, and dialed 911, walking away.
But before she could connect, someone knocked the phone from her hand and dragged her inside.
The person was strong and rough, practically throwing her inside. Her head hit a shoe cabinet,
and she saw black.
She fell to the ground. Lily Lane's cries echoed in her ears, then a dark shadow loomed over her. When she opened her eyes, she was on the floor of a dilapidated room, the ceiling dark with a grimy light fixture hanging above. The room was small, windowless, with only a single bed covered in stains. The floor was greasy and smelled foul. Sonya struggled to sit up, trying to break free from the ropes, but it was impossible. Taking a deep breath, she shouted towards the door.
"Help! Help!"
After several calls, the door opened. A large, burly, unshaven man shuffled in.
"Shout again, and I'll cut your tongue out!"
Sonya looked toward the living room equally dirty, strewn with empty bottles and dirty dishes. Two men were sprawled on the sofa, passed out drunk.
A man emerged from another room, zipping up his pants, a cigarette dangling from his lips, looking satisfied.
Sonya bit her lip, her body trembling.

The man squatted down, leering at her."This shouldn't concern you, but you had to knock, you had to see us, and you had to call the police."
"So, we had to bring you in."
"What did Lily do to you?" Sonya asked.
"She owes us money!"
"How much?"
"Three hundred million."
Sonya's lips tightened. She remembered Lily Lane telling her about being scammed by her ex-husband, leaving her with a massive debt.
She has to pay. But we need some interest, right?" The man looked her lips. "Why don't you pay the interest for her?"
Sonya shifted back. "The money... we can talk..."
