Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Lee Otto Fraser’s Pov:
A loud ripple and splash startled me where I was seated underneath the water. I promptly swift my head to the direction of the sound and saw the water shuffling on the surface. I rounded my gaze around the water, wondering what caused the sound and that was when my gaze landed on a vague. figure approaching me and when I swan forward toward the figure, I realized it was her. Aurora. She was swimming toward me and it got me thinking why she’d come into the pool. And seeing the way she was fighting the water, it was clear proof she couldn’t swim. She started sinking deep beneath the pool and I had to rush to her.
Wrapping my arm around her small fragile b*dy, I grabbed her and pulled her out of the pool to the surface of the water. I laid her on the tiled floor as I caught my breath. Breathing heavily. I blinked off the water hanging on my eyes, staring at her closed eyes. She laid there, unmoving. If she didn’t know how to swim, why would she jump into the water? Catching my breath, I placed my hands on her chest, and did the CPR on her. I did it a couple of times, waiting for it to take effect. A strand of her hair draped across her eyes and I was forced to shove it off her face. Taking a close look at her face.
Her cheekbones were close to be obvious but I wouldn’t deny the fact she was beautiful. I didn’t want to admit it but out of the three women I had claimed as my wives, she was the prettiest of them all. And staring at her now, her b*dy looked thin and her evident bones extended down to her collarbone. She was too thin, she slightly looked malnourished. I did the CPR on her again, anticipating with my heart racing. What if her system has accumulated a lot of water?
Lost in my train of thoughts. She coughed. I saw her cough out water until she finally squinted her eyes open. She blinked her eyes severally before channeling them to me. Her eyes went wide for whatever reason but she startled me when she jerked up and threw her arms around me.
She wrapped her arms around me so tightly, I was stunned and puzzled at the same time. What was she doing? Why is she suddenly embracing me? Questions arose within me as she continued to hug me. Her breath falling on the corner of my n*eck. She smelled great, causing that familiar feeling to stir in me. I felt my inner wolf growling and the urge to wrap my arms around her too was so overwhelming, causing chaos to my nervous system. On one hand, I couldn’t resist her alluring feminine scent and on the other hand, I had questions on my sleeves.
Having her this close quickened the pace of my heartbeat and my chest literally started constricting and I was likely to pass out if she didn’t let go of me. I yanked her away from me, grasping for breath. Placing a hand on my chest, trying to slow my heavy breaths and my uneven heartbeat.

“Mr Lee, are you alright?” When I lifted my gaze back to her, she was looking at me with horror filled eyes. Her hands grabbed my arms. The look in her eyes surprised me but that wasn’t my priority right now. I pulled myself away from her hold, gaping at those horrified eyes.
“What were you thinking!” I let my tongue loose as anger strode in me from nowhere. What if someone wasn’t there and she drowned knowing she couldn’t swim? Another tabloid would be published against me, stating how my wives never last a week in marriage with me and disappear.

“How could you jump into the pool when you are aware you can’t swim!” I yelled, ignoring the harshness of my voice or how terrified she looked right now. “You could have died! Were you deliberately trying to get yourself killed? Why?”
“Deliberately…..” The word flew out of her mouth out of its own accord and her mouth was parted, gawking at me like I just spoke in a foreign language. “I wasn’t trying to get myself killed, I was trying to SAVE you.”
“Save me?” I was caught off guard by her response. “Why would you save me? What do I need saving from?”
“You were drowning,” she asserted in between rushed breaths. “I saw you beneath the water, you weren’t moving an inch. I had to jump in knowing that I can’t swim and that there wasn’t no one in sight I could ask to help rescue you. It was risky, yes but I would rather risk it than watch someone die in my presence.”
She paused as I watched her catch her breathing. Hitting her chest. She heaved a deep breath and kinda threw me a pointed look, pouting a little. “You don’t know how difficult it was for me to jump in there.”
The look across her face amused me and I was at the verge of letting out a laugh but I refrained. “You jumped in to save me but you ended up being saved,” I suppressed the laughter building in my throat. “So what if I can’t swim as well, who will save the other?”
“You can swim?” She gaped at me in surprise. “Then why would you stay beneath the water like are drowning?”

I got up and from her, walking over the beach seats, picked a tool and tossed it to her when I saw her quiver a little. “Here, dry yourself up.”
She caught it, and began drying her hair while approaching me. Questions clouded her eyes. It was my first time seeing her get worked up a little. I expected her normal signature word ‘I’m sorry‘ after reviving her but I didn’t hear that from her. She plopped down on one of the beach seats, drying her hair and I couldn’t help staring at her.
Her delicate fingers wrapped around the cotton towel as they glided the fabric through her hair. It was a bit of an amazing view. Little droplets of water dribbled down from her hair to her l*ps and when she nipped on her l*ps softly, I couldn’t define why b*dy reacted to that little act of hers.
I never felt this way toward my previous wives so why her? It seemed the little stuff she did were dangerously affecting me and my b*dy was dangerously reacting to them.
“Do you go..risking yourself without thinking?” I asked, driving out the tense demanding silence between us.
Her hand halted halfway through her hair. “It’s not that. I was worried something dangerous might be happening to you beneath the water?”

Chapter 24
“Worried? Didn’t I ask you to refrain from worrying over me?…..
“I couldn’t help it. Besides you are my husband so I ought to worry about you.”
”
“Husband?‘ A low snort escaped beneath me. Yes, to her I am her husband but to me, this was just like one of my many marriages and I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned out like the rest of my three wives or met the same fate as them.
“Why are you here?” I headed toward the main building, going through the door. She followed suit. “You must have a reason for coming to me.”
“A friend has a sick daughter, and I would like to visit her daughter……I mean she’s too busy to see her daughter because of her job so I volunteered to visit her in her stead?”
“Why?” I halted, causing her to do so too. I looked at her, taking notice of the nervous look in her
eyes.
“Because she begged me and I volunteered.” She responded, doing the same act that made my b*dy react. She was gnawing on her lower l*p while throwing me an expectant stare.
“Is this your way of trying to escape by all means?” I accused. Her eyes went wide a bit before she shook her head.
“I didn’t try to escape the first time, I only went to get a phone.”
I furrowed my brow. Which reminded me, when she walked into this house, she was with all her clothes but never saw her with a phone.
“I went to buy a phone, I wasn’t trying to run and I’m sorry for getting you worried that day. I thought it was irrelevant telling you.”
“I believe I gave you rules to abide by in this house, and when you came back. Why wasn’t there a phone with you?”
“It was costly, so I couldn’t purchase it. And I lost my way, that was why I was relieved when I saw you…….” A sweet smile graced her l*ps. “Thank you for finding me.”
“Still doesn’t justify you defiling my orders,” I averted my eyes from her to anything in the sitting room. Ignoring the way my b*dy was reacting to the smile on her face.
“I’m sorry.”
“You two are soaked,” Wilson appeared in the sitting, darting his eyes from me to her. “Did you two go water diving or? You are soaked to the brim and by the way, where were you? She and I have been looking for you.”
“I was at the pool.” I returned my gaze to her and she still retained that look of plea in her eyes. “You still doing that?” Wilson asked. “Are you doing okay? What is it this time?”

“Nothing. I pulled my eyes from her. “You can go,” I directed my words to her. “But you are going with one of the securities.”
“Can’t I go
alone?”
“Didn’t you say you aren’t finding ways to escape?”
“Alright. Thanks.” She turned and proceeded toward her room. Her heels clicking on the transparent stairs.
I walked into my room, pulling out my wet pants and putting on a comfy polo and pants. “What?” I narrowed my gaze to Wilson who had been oddly silent after I walked into my room. “Do you have something to say?”
“I’m just surprised.” He sighed. Returning from his reverie. “I’m just surprised how she was looking for you one minute and the next minute, you two are soaked like you had great fun together in the pool
“It’s not like that.”
“Then how?” Wilson walked in more. “Earlier, before we went searching for you. I saw her standing at the door of your room while smiling. I wondered if you said something to her earlier although she clearly denied it.”
“Hmm.” I sighed and plopped down on my bed.
“And I heard you two haven’t consummated your marriage…….”
“Since when did you start knowing what goes on in my marriage?”
“Because of that issue?” Wilson queried and came to sit beside me. “I may just be your secretary but you can confide in me. Is that the only reason you don’t consummate your marriage with wives?”
“Mr Shawn, have you scheduled a day for me to meet him?”
your
“I see what you are doing here but Aurora could be different and she might actually be your fate.”
I exhaled. Sighing. “Did you find out more about her and her family? I’m just curious as to why her father was quick to give her to me.”
“Still digging.” He answered. “Also your father called me.”
“Why?”
“He said your grandfather wants you present for the family dinner
“What?”
