Third Person Pov:
Can’t believe what just happened there!.” Furiously, she slammed a fist on the mahogany desk they occupied. “Why would he just show up and claim that! I was having the best moment of my life and he just had to ruin it!” Her face was so red and the veins in her n*eck popped out. Her nose was flared and her l*ps pressed together in a thin line. Enraged.
She was fuming and Dennis could clearly see it. “I know but it’s over now, she might have won again but there will always be next time.” He said, and reached out to pat her hand but Nora stunned him when she burst out another yell.
Why!!! Why does he have to mess up my little fun?” She roared. “Aurora! Aurora! Aurora! You might have escaped my clutches now, you might have been lucky today but you won’t be so lucky next time.” She directed her gaze on a spot as if Aurora was standing there.
She balled a fist, anger evident on her face.
“But I’m curious,” Dennis broke her train of thoughts. “How did you know that was in her pocket?” He studied her for a brief moment, watching the expression on her face……“Don’t tell me……..
A little gasp flew out of his mouth, his eyes widened as he stared at Nora in startled stunned. Nora turned her gaze to him. Seeing the perplexity masked across his face. “Don’t tell me you put it there?”
He queried. Taking a sip from his expresso.
Nora pulled her gaze from him, staring at the multitude, walking about, chattering. “I can’t get of the humiliation I felt at Maya’s wedding. All because of her, I was turned into a fool. I was insulted….”
rid
“But it baffles me,” Dennis began. “Why would Mr Fraser defend someone like her? A lowly insignificant being like her? Do you think there’s something going on between them? Because based on the tales I have heard of him, he doesn’t give a heck about anyone. Always rude, condensing and treating people lik
they are nothing.”
“Something is definitely up,” Dennis started nodding his head, absentmindedly.
“Don’t care!” In an impatient voice, Nora huffed. “I won’t be satisfied until I get my pound of flesh. Until I teach her to know her place. Aurora would wish she never existed…..and Jaden…..He hasn’t changed.” She nodded, biting her lower l*p. “Isn’t he married to Maya yet he seemed to have his eyes on another woman.”
“I ain’t gonna lie, I thought I was the only one who noticed.” Dennis sighed and took another sip from his espresso. “His eyes….. There was this longing in them……like someone meeting his unrequited love for the first time in a long time.”
A roguish sly grin played on her l*ps. “This will be interesting.”

Chapter 17
“I know. Jumping in to take the fall because he couldn’t see his childhood sweetheart being humiliated but what about Maya, should we tell her of the stunt her husband pulled here?”
8%!
Nora promptly turned to face him, retaining that smile. And nodded. “It would be fun, wouldn’t it? Watching two sisters fight over one man and it turns out that man in question isn’t in love with his mated wife but with his unrequited love from childhood.”
“How does it sound?”
“Perfect.” He gave her a hand sign with his fingers. Smiling. “It would be so fun.”
Also, did you perhaps record the drama we just displayed there?” She picked her expresso to sip. Letting out a breath. “It might come in handy one day….I won’t forget how she humiliated me in
past and at Maya’s wedding.”
the
“Wow, though she’s cursed of not being able to shift. She seemed like a jewel, though insignificant…people still notice she’s there…you know, like a weed.”
“And yes, I did record it all but what will you do with it?
“First, show Maya what she’s getting into. And to be ready to brace herself for what is coming plus it would be entertaining to watch. Perfect headlines, Two sisters butting heads over one man.”
“But what if Jaden has no feelings for Aurora, what if what he did was out of pity because she’s his wife’s sister.
“Either way, it will be fun.” The smile on Nora’s face stretched. “It will definitely be and I wonder who would save her this time. Will it be Fraser or Jaden?” She cackled. “Wow, I’m getting entertained already.”
“I don’t think Mr Lee will do that ever again, I may not know the reason why he did what he did but I believe he wouldn’t stoop so low to do so again.”
“Well, whatever. She waved a hand dismissively in the air. Standing up. “How’s your father’s company doing? Is it still going through a crisis? Is it a liquidity issue?”
She asked as they left the supermarket.
“Well I’m trying to sign a deal with this famous actress. I hope it will boost the company. I hope it will bring the company back into the stock market charts. But I have to suck up to the board of directors if I want to climb the highest pedestal.”
“Aiming to be chairman. I see.”
“In life, everyone aims higher. Only the ones who are less ambitious remain stuck in one place.”
Nora chuckled.

Chapter 17
FLASHBACK
Nora’s delicate hands traced the light surface of every cosmetic product on display. The face foundation, the contour palette, l*psticks of every shade and blush palette. A smile crept on her face when her eyes descended on a dark shade of red l*pstick, she pulled it out, uncapping it to rub a little on her l*ps before checking it out on the tiny mirror attached to the l*pstick holder.
It does look good. And moist. She thought and turned to the shop keepers. “How does it look?” She queried, waiting for a positive validation.
“I must comment, this was specially made for you,” one of the shopkeepers, a female asserted with a huge smile across her face. “It perfectly suits your fair skin.”
She beamed. “You think so?”
The female shopkeeper nodded and

the fairness of your skin.”
“Really?” Nora took the peach l*pstick and uncapped it. Rubbing it on her l*ps. She blended the l*pstick and smiled in satisfaction at the reflection of her mouth in the mirror. “I guess you are right,” she turned to the shopkeeper. “I will take this.”
“No…. I will take both of them and this,” she pointed at a face foundation.
“Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation?” Asked the shopkeeper.
“Mmhm,” she nodded. “I saw some female celebrities using it so it must be a good brand.”
“Miss, you do have keen eyes. I must admit.”
Nora smiled, tucking a strand of her hair behind her left ear. Grinning ear to ear at the shopkeeper’s compliment but the smile ceased from her face when a figure swiftly passed the corner of her eyes. She whirled around to catch a glimpse of the familiar figure and caught sight of
her.
‘Aurora?”
“Ma’am, here.” The shopkeeper handed her a white plastic bag with what she bought in it. Nora pulled out her card and waited for the shopkeeper to be done before sprinting out in search of her in the crowded supermarket. She scanned the whole place and saw her with another woman in maybe her early 50s.
Who’s that oldie with her? Wonder what she’s doing here? Didn’t Maya say she never set foot out of their house? Was she granted freedom after Maya’s wedding? Questions wrecked her mind until a devious thought popped in her head.
Deliberately. She rushed up to catch up with her when she saw her walking the first shelf along with that woman and intentionally bumped into her.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized, buying her time to sl*p the face foundation into her dress pocket.

Chapter 17
“I’m sorry too,” Aurora asserted too but Nora was quick to pull away from her to avoid being recognized by her. She had done what she wanted to do.
A wicked smile played on her l*ps. Watching Aurora and the older woman resume strolling rows after rows. Nora made her way to the security men.
“I saw someone take something from one of the shelves and hid it in her pocket.”
“Who?” One of the securities asked.
“That WOMAN,” she pointed a finger at Aurora on the fourth row of the food shelf
Lee Otto Fraser’s Pov:
I feel weak. I feel numb. I battled my eyelids to open as the bright lights streaming through the white parted curtain blitzed through them, prompting me to shut them. I felt a sharp pain in my forehead but at the same time, I felt something soft and cold against my forehead. I slowly squinted my eyes open, adjusting them to the room. I glanced around the room and realized I was in my bedroom but how did I end up here? I remembered I was in my study. My memory drifted back to last night, I knew I definitely saw her. Saw her face but what happened next, I had no clue.
How did I end up in my room and on my bed and how did this wet towel get on my forehead? I scurried my gaze to every corner, descending them only to almost have a heart attack when I caught a glimpse of a figure, sprawled on the cold floor with her head resting on my bed was the woman who is my wife.
How did she….? Why was she here and sleeping here? Tentatively, I drew closer to her, examining her face. There was a peaceful look on it and her eyes weren’t tightened like they used to be. Her b*dy rises and falls at a good pace. But the huge question was why is she here? Did something happen last night?
Lost in my thoughts, I didn’t notice when the woman sleeping peacefully with her head resting on my bed woke up. Not until I felt her warm hand against my forehead. Jolting me back to her.
Startled. I blanched. Creating a relatively distance between us but she seemed unaware of what I just did because her face was laced with concern and worry.
“How are you feeling?” The first time I was hearing words aside ‘I’m sorry or thank you, I didn’t know she could say other words aside from her usual signature words.
“What are you doing here?” Her hand dropped on the bed when I pulled away from her.
“You were unwell…. you were running a high fever last night…..
“You still haven’t answered my question. What are you doing here? Didn’t I forbid you entering my room without my consent?”

fainted…..” She trailed off, and hung her head. Gaping at my bed spread as if it was some antique.
“I was worried……. I stayed awake all night….”
“Since when did I permit you or gave you the leverage to worry about me? I gave you rules and you must follow them….so leave.”
“But….” It was quite surprising to me when she revolted. Usually she obeys and never argues with me. “You must still not be in good shape…….” She leaned closer to place her hand on my forehead but I refrained her, drawing back from her.
‘I said GET OUT!”
