Married To The Cursed Lycan King by JaneChunli

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Aurora’s Pov

The morning gentle breeze of Raleigh city crashed into my face through the side windshield of where I was seated. I sat beside Malena at the back passenger’s seat in the expensive looking car. Everything felt new to me. Felt like I was reborn and I was seeing the world for the first time, I was experiencing everything within it for the first time. How much have I been locked away from the world? My father is a wealthy influential public figure but I was only subjected to the life of a servant in that house– a servant was better. I was practically a slave in my father’s house. Suffocated and isolated.

My father owns cars but I never get to perceive them and talk more about riding in them. Most times I wondered why my father despised this much.

Instinctively, without thinking. I stretched my hand out of the window. Feeling everything nature and all that was within it had to offer. I know I had been out here once but the feelings I was feeling right were anew. Probably because Otto was aware of me leaving or the fact, I had a little freedom unlike in my father’s house. The car I never rode in– I’m riding in one now.

“Ma’am, that’s dangerous.” A surprised and anxious look graced Malena’s face immediately and in a swift movement, she tried to pull my hand back into the car. “What if your hand gets chopped off by a speeding car driven by an insane or drunk driver?”

“I don’t think that’s legal, driving while drunk.” I was amused by the concerned glint in her eyes. I believe it is against the laws of the land.”

“This is Raleigh. The home of the unsophisticated, raving crazy set of people are bred. Anyone car do whatever they like and the laws hold them no account. Laws are rather obsolete here.”

“Hmm..but just once. Can I feel the nice breeze? And don’t worry. No car or trunk driven by an insane or drunk driver will chopped off my hand.”

“Don’t worry!”

My eyes toured the busy roads. People going about their different business. Shops and restaurants on standby as buyers stormed in ro buy one product or the other. A smile crept on my face as I watched people move around freely with no one restricting them or anything to worry about. Yeah they might but not as mine. I was restricted my whole life and only to be married off as a form of freedom but I know I wasn’t free.

I wanted to explore the world on my own. Feel what it feels like to be one’s own company and peace. Doing the things I wanted to do but… I sighed. That was only a dream. My eyes continued. to wander and venture to the multitude of people, wondering who are humans and werewolves and lycans.

Raleigh is a place where all sorts of humans live and help each other. Half human and half whatever title attached to them and they seemed to live in harmony. Never heard of any human

hunters in hunt for my kind……I’m not one of them actually, actually like Maya would always say. I’m practically human with no extraordinary side.

“Differentiating between photos and real life can be quite difficult,” my train of endless thoughts. was halted when the woman beside me said. What was she talking about? “He looks good in just anything or anywhere. I must give credit to his good looks. Wonder how many women will still be head over heels for him even now,”

I wasn’t following or understanding the words that flew out of her mouth until I followed the trail

eyes to the direction they were directed to and saw him. His profile was shown clearly and boldly on one of the street TV billboards.

of her

He was clothed in black tuxedo oozing with wealth and power. His handsome face was the highlighted area but those eyes held no emotions in them. Cold as usual and the look on his face was always condensing and intimidating yet…..although I hated to admit it, he was seductively

handsome.

And that man right there was my husband. Living with him, he seemed quite different from what the townspeople painted him to be. Can’t be too sure, I just started living with him.

‘Mr Lee Otto Fraser, ceo of the LFK group and constructions listed among the eligible men for the ceo and chairman of the year. The headlines read.

And right there, I felt it in my soul. I felt looming self conscious within me. He’s such a powerful man, respected and feared by both great and small but whereas, I am nothing but a plain boring and of no use human. We don’t fit together, no matter how much I try. Our worlds are clearly apart. The line between us was clearly thick.

This was a clear story replica of the ugly duckling but in my case with a charming prince. The ugly duckling and the charming prince.

What’d happen if he found out the real reason my father was eager to marry me off to him. What happens when he finds out I’m wolf–less and that I have been like this since I turned 16?

The headline and image of Otto changed to a middle–aged man, probably around my father’s age with another average looking man, seated opposite each other. The average man was interviewing the middle–aged man. Though I couldn’t tell what they were discussing, the headings made it pretty clear what they were saying.

‘CEO of Davis LTD talks about pulling out of his contract with LFK and working with ALS

constructions.”

I let out a whiff and pulled my eyes from the billboard and stared at my hands. There was practically nothing I was good at I never had any talent or skill, the only thing I was good at was cooking.

“Ma’am

“Can you refrain from calling me that? It sounds unsettling to me,” I cut short the older woman.

“Just like you told me to call you by your name, I prefer that.”

“Ohh okay. Would you mind sharing with me the background you grace from? I was surprised. when Otto came back one day and announced his wife would be joining us soon.”

“I’m the first child to Mr and Mrs Usoro of the Frostmoon clan,” I smiled as the older woman widened her eyes at my introduction before it softened. “I knew it, just like I expected. Otto won’t settle for less, he would always pay attention or do things that would benefit him.”

“Wow. Really? That’s amazing. Your father is the founder of the UP corporation. It’s nice. I bet your life was filled with glamor and glitter.”

I kept mute and just stared at nothing. My life was pretty boring with no color, the colors in my eyes had long disappeared and though. I was born in wealth, I never experienced it.

Minutes later, we arrived at the supermarket. Otto finally gave me a go ahead order to go with Malena only if Malena would keep a close watch on me because he believed what happened last time might happen again. Why would he think that? I only left to get a phone which turned out to be unbelievably expensive.

I walked side by side with Malena as she grabbed a wheeling cart and began touring shelves after shelves. Picking things she needed.

Suddenly a question arose within me and I couldn’t contain my curiosity. “Malena,” I began. “What were Otto’s previous wives like?”

“Well, good. Average. They are hell annoying and tickle me till I get angry. They are nutjobs. That’s why I said I like you, you seem like a sane person.”

I nodded. And pulled out a canned corn beef on one shelf and dropped it in the cart.

We continued to stroll through rows and rows, picking things from the shelves. Going about food hunting. We were in the fourth row when I saw someone, one of the guys from Maya’s wedding. One of her friends. Immediately I saw him, I wanted to escape and tapped Malena to draw her

attention.

“I saw some sweet oranges on the first shelf. Can we go get them? I’m craving for some right now.”

“Right now?” Malena looked at me with surprise. “You never mentioned cravings but if that’s what you want. Let’s go.”

I was about to leave with Malena. But a voice called out from behind me and it was his voice. I didn’t want to get picked on but at the same time I couldn’t ignore him. I turned to him and faked a smile.

“I definitely saw what you did right there,” he prompted, a smirk appearing across his father. You are trying to avoid me after the stunt you pulled at your sister’s wedding. “You got us driven out.” “I wasn’t avoiding you……”
