Madam, Your Ex-Husband Is On Call

Chapter 176

Chapter 176 Family Drama Unfolds at Party

Emma felt a bit of disappointment when she saw Anastasia standing beside Jaxon.

But she didn't make it too obvious.

Anastasia didn't respond either, just feeling a growing dislike for Emma.

Jaxon didn't react but reminded Lamia,

"Mrs. Patterson, you still owe us an apology."

The room fell into a tense silence.

Emma looked at Lamia in shock.

Many people around were watching.

James, unable to hide his embarrassment, warning to Lamia with her voice down,

"Apologize, or you can leave right now!"

Lamia's face was pale, resentfully grinding her teeth.

"I'm sorry, I misspoke earlier."

After saying this, she turned to leave, fearing that she might lose control and ruin everything.

James smiled and looked at Jaxon,

"Mr. Stanford, I have something to ask you. Please, this way..."

Jaxon glanced at Anastasia, and she nodded. "I'm going to grab something to eat."

As soon as Jaxon left, Emma eagerly pulled Anastasia away.

"Anastasia, why did you come with him?"

Emma looked at her, somewhat sadly.

Anastasia stared at her coldly. Emma's lack of boundaries only made her uncomfortable.

"Don't call me this way. Who I'm with is none of your business."

Emma hung her head and pouted.

At that moment, several well-dressed ladies came over.

"Emma, who are you talking to?"

Emma paused and looked at her.

"Jane?"

Jane looked slender and elegant, befitting a pianist, giving off a sense of distance.

Others, also pampered socialites, looked at them with ambiguous smiles.

Anastasia was about to leave when she saw Lamia arrive in a new, extravagant dress covered in gold, almost blinding.

She was trying to be the most dazzling hostess in the room.

"Anastasia, make yourself at home..."

Her attitude changed, smiling kindly and holding Anastasia's hand, sighing with apparent concern.

"Look at you. You've lost weight since leaving the Patterson family. I can't bear to see this as your mother-in-law!"

Anastasia instinctively stepped back.

This was not with the best of intentions, meaning no good.

Lamia sighed to herself, smiling generously at the others,

"Though they've divorced for lack of fate, I've always seen Anastasia as my daughter.

"Even though her background isn't great, and she has different life habits, I still hope you can help her find a boyfriend..."

Anastasia couldn't help but scoff, utterly disgusted.

A woman in a black dress glared at her and said,

"Mrs. Lamia Patterson is so good to you, I heard that she was hard to deal with, but those must be false rumors spread by you!

"She's been so kind, and you're ungrateful, taking advantage, and being greedy!" Anastasia suddenly understood that Lamia was playing the excellent mother-in-law! She wouldn't let Lamia succeed, would she?

Anastasia thought quickly, then teared up, playing along with a pitiful look and said,

"Thank you for thinking of me, and for reminding me daily that I'm not good enough for your family.

"Even the one who had an illegitimate child couldn't be here. Naturally, I couldn't stay married long.

"I know you always wanted a well-matched daughter-in-law. I've divorced as you wished. Can't you leave me alone?"

She choked up as she spoke.

Her aggrieved look shocked everyone.
