Chapter CHAPTER 17

The Rogue Luna

Chapter 17: Fate Can’t Be Wrong

Chapter seventeen: Fale Can’t Be Wrong

Fernand

Having made up my mind, I decided I am going to speak with her first thing in the morning whether she likes it or not. I wanted her to know that she could trust me and that I am a safe place for her to lay all her burdens down. My mind was so conflicted between Helen and Elena that I didn’t even notice that I had left my office until the cool air hit my face. I was heading towards my parent’s house which was right across from mine.

At first, I hated the fact that my parents were so close to my private space but then, in moments like this, I am thankful that they were only one short walk away. I found my father on the porch sitting on the bench he and I had made last summer. He was nursing a cold beer.

“Father. I greeted him as I walked up to the porch and sat next to him.

“Where is mother?” I asked him.

“She headed to the bed earlier. She said something about preparing for Helen’s homecoming.” He responded.

“Oh. That was what I managed to say.

We sat in a comfortable silence as we watched the moon beyond the horizon. My father took sips of his beer periodically and I sifted through all the pros and cons of each possible decision I could make.

“If you stay too long in your head, you might get trapped there.” My father muttered as he stared at me. A smile was plastered on his face as he continued to drink his beer.

“I just have a lot on my mind, father. You know my responsibilities towards the Pack.” I said to him.

“Would this have anything to do with the rogue girl that crossed our boundaries a few days ago?” He asked, I stiffened and quickly retorted.

“She is not a rogue and it has nothing to do with her.” He nodded but I could see the doubt in his face. My father had always been a perceptive man and clearly he is still the same. Thankfully, he didn’t press me on the issues further, I was not in the mood to get into it with my father.

“Father, can I ask you a question?” He turned back to me and nodded. I let out a deep breath before speaking again.

“Do you ever think that fate can be wrong?” I asked him, I tried to keep my question as inconspicuous as possible. I needed advice from a man who had been in a similar position as I am now and had managed to overcome it. He furrowed his brows in confusion.

“In what sense?” He asked, I shrugged, trying to play it off.

“Just in general, Like our bloodline carrying the Alpha gene, that was fate. But do you think fate could have been wrong there?” He mused over my question and his wrinkled forehead became even more wrinkled as he frowned. He brought his beer and took a large swig before setting it down again.

“Fate is one of those things that we may never understand fully. It is complex but it never happens without a reason. Everything that fate does is intentional and purposeful. Fate makes no mistake.” He replied and I licked my lips preparing myself for my next question.

What about mates? Can’t fate pick the wrong mate for you?” I asked again, he gave me a knowing smile and rubbed his graying beard with his hand.

Chapter 17: Fate Can’t Be Wrong

For those who have a fated måte, it is one of the two greatest blessing the moon goddess gives us. If you are lucky enough to have a fated mate, then you can be certain that the moon goddess made no mistake in picking your partner. There was a loud pause between us as I took in his words. My father reached behind me and tapped me gently on my back.

It is unfortunate that you don’t have a fated mate, my son but your mother and I have done our part and picked a suitable bride for you to marry. She will be your equal and she will be your support, the same way in which your own mate would have been if you had one.” I nodded.

“I know, it is my responsibility to the Pack to see this union through.” muttered.

“That is right and your mother is overjoyed about your engagement to Helen. She had told everyone about it.” We both chuckled, that sounded like my mother.

We sobered and fell into easy conversation. We talked about our Pack business and then started poking fun at my mother’s cooking skills or lack thereof. We didn’t realize as time went by, it was already after midnight and time for me to go back home. I got up from the bench and bide goodnight to my father. I was halfway down the porch when i heard him call my name, I turned around to look at him.

“In my experience, son, fate always wins out.” He said and then stood up from the bench and walked into the house.

As I walked back home, his words played in my mind over and over again. Was my father right? Would fate win out when it comes to Elena and me? Or were we destined to fail?

The closer I drew to my house, the stronger her scent got into me and the happier my wolf became. Some weeks ago, if someone had told me that this would happen to my life, I would have never believed them. As I walked through the front door, I was eager to head straight to her room and talk to her but it was late and she must be sleeping by now. This conversation could wait until tomorrow.

Elena Pov.

******

I heard he returned back almost an hour ago. A part of me hoped that he would come to my room but I knew that had more to do with my wolf. She is against my decision to run away but we had been here for far too long. It was only a matter of time before he spoke to Alpha Richard and then he would come looking for me. I had been safe within Bernard’s boundaries for some time but now I overstayed my welcome.

If Alisha’s words were to be true, he was already engaged to marry someone else and there is no need for me to stay regardless of him being my mate, he has been chosen to marry another.

“Don’t leave.” My inner voice tried to fight me but I didn’t listen.

My room was on the second floor of his impressive house and the jump wasn’t too high. Now that I have healed enough, I knew I could make it to the next town without stopping. I pack the last few Items that doctor Liam bought for me in the duffle bag I found under the bed. I could carry it both in wolf and human form, there was also a few sanitary essential and some of the painkiller that Liam had left for me. I looked around the room, searching for the bandage that I found under the kitchen sink and saw them on the white vanity in the corner of the room. I picked up the bandages and then looked up and caught my reflection.

I looked different, my red hair looked more vibrant and healthier than it had been. The bath I took did some good, my eyes had a sparkle to them that had not been there before. It was faint but it was there. My once sunken cheeks were full and rosy from the warm blood rushing past them. I looked, I had put on a few extra pounds of weight, thanks to doctor Liam. He did wonders on me, I had been on the verge of malnutrition and death and he healed my wolf and returned my body back to nearly perfect. I owed him a lot and I had no way of truly thanking him

My heart stung at the fact that I was leaving behind all these kin short while, I had grown to like them. Even the Pack lands them attached to the surrounding areas. There is something comfortin

ople, doctor Liam and Alisha. Although I had just known them for a

had only seen the hospital and Bernard’s house but I grew being here even though I had anxiety about Richard finding me.

“Because you are meant to be their Luna. My inner voice muttered in. I tried to brush away that thought but no matter how hard!

tried, I couldn’t. A part of me felt like I was abandoning them. It was crazy to think I could feel such for people I had never ever met

before.

I drew my eyes away from the mirror and went back to the bag. They already had Luna as she is on her way to them. I was not needed here nor was I wanted. Nicholas made that very clear at every chance he got. I was outside and they would never accept me.
