Chapter Love’ss 92
Chapter 92
Madelyn’s explanation made sense.
Andrew tightened his embrace around her and kissed her hair. Get some sleep.”
“No, the antiseptic smell is everywhere. I want to go home.”
“Put up with it tonight. You have to stay here for at least one day.“.
How could he allow her to be discharged when she’d lost so much blood?
Madelyn hadn’t rested well the night before. Despite her
Π
frailness from her injury, she didn’t dare to sleep because of how stern Andrew looked earlier. Now that he seemed fine, her drowsiness had finally gotten the better of her.
In a daze, she mumbled, “Let Rowan come back.”
Though she found him quite annoying, he was loyal to Andrew.
Andrew already knew that Rowan had been cooperating with her abroad.
Rowan constantly getting on Madelyn’s nerves irritated him, but he never had plans to leave him stranded in the desert forever. He merely wanted to teach Rowan a lesson.
Sensing that Madelyn had drifted off into a deep slumber, Andrew went outside to make a few calls. Elijah had been calling him while he was in the ward earlier.
He called Wilson first and was informed that Wilson had taken care of everything and brought the goods back. Then, her
answered Elijah’s call.
Elijah had lost his usual composure in the call. Instead, he sounded anxious. “Where did you take Easton?”
“You’ll never see him again,” Andrew replied coldly.
“Did you kill him? Andrew, he’s your nephew! How could you?”
“He won’t die, but you’re no longer his father. Forget about him!”
Andrew hung up promptly, coldness palpable in his eyes.
Later, Benson returned after a discussion with the doctor.
“What else did the doctor say?” Andrew asked.
“He mentioned that the blood clots in Mrs. Miller’s brain have
to be further examined. She might even need to undergo
surgery.”
Andrew shot a glare at Benson. His gaze was tinged with
anxiety.
“A surgery?” His breath hitched.
His father had died in surgery, and now Madelyn had to undergo surgery, too.
Benson continued, “The doctor said she only suffered a mild injury today, and she can be discharged.”
But Andrew didn’t hear him, as he was too occupied with the grief from his father’s death. Despite his extensive experience, the fragility of a person’s life never struck him.
Madelyn was woken by a phone call. As she reached out. groggily, a warm hand held her wrist. She glanced up and realized it was Andrew.
Still feeling sluggish, she failed to discern his expression and could only hear him say gently, “Continue sleeping.”
“Who is it?” She tucked herself back under the sheets.
Andrew had already hung up the call in her stead. “It’s Carrie.”
“Oh.”
Knowing that it was Carrie, Madelyn said nothing more and drifted back to sleep again.
Andrew sat by the bed, his gaze fixated on her flawless.
features. Despite his composed appearance, he was currently spiraling into turmoil.
Surgery was usually the quickest solution, but he was reluctant to have Madelyn go under the knife.
It was already dark out when Madelyn woke up again, and they were on a private jet. Noticing the medical team on board, she
shot Andrew a confused look.
“Wasn’t it just a mild injury?”
Andrew met her gaze and crooned, “We have to get back to Klago City today. The flight’s going to take around two and a half hours. I’m just a bit worried.”
“What’s there to be worried about?” Madelyn mumbled, though a sense of warmth filled her heart.
Andrew had someone bring her some food. Madelyn was exhausted from the long day, and she was now famished after a good rest.
He wanted to feed her some soup, but she found him to be too slow. So, she grabbed the bowl and gulped it all down herself instead.
A flight attendant happened to come across their interaction, and it instantly changed her impression of a socialite.
