In the dead of night, Ellie shot up from a nightmare! The faint light from the moon seeping through the curtain allowed her to check her blanket, and her rigid body slowly relaxed.

"Hiss- Out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly spotted a figure by the bed. Startled, Ellie gasped and rolled off the bed.

With a "thud, she turned on the bedroom light. It was then that she clearly saw the man in the room. "How did you get in here?"

She had just changed the code for the front door a while ago, so there's no way Alex could've known it.

Between them stood a bed, and Alex was leaning casually against the headboard, hands stuffed in his pockets, staring at Ellie intensely without saying a word.

Feeling uneasy under his unyielding gaze, Ellie looked down at her silk camisole and quickly grabbed a pillow to cover herself.

As she started to calm down, a strong whiff of alcohol hit her. When she finally glanced up into Alex's eyes, she caught the sight of bloodshot pupils that sparked wildness and danger, like flames consuming everything in their path. Ellie instinctively wanted to retreat, fearful of what lay beneath those depths.

Alex stepped closer, and her heart raced as she turned to escape into the dressing room. Just as her hand reached for the doorknob, Alex cornered her against the door, his presence looming over her.

With one hand pressed above her head and the other gripping the doorknob, he effectively trapped her in this confined space.

Ellie squatted down, clutching the pillow, hoping to slip away, but Alex was faster. He crouched down beside her, keeping his hands firmly on either side of her, effectively confining her again. "What do you want in the middle of the night?" she exclaimed, her voice shaky.

When their eyes locked, her heart skipped a beat. That fierce look of possession in his gaze... it was terrifying and intoxicating. The more silent he remained, the more anxious Ellie felt.

He was always unpredictable, especially when drinking. What would he do next? She doubted she could fight back if he decided to act on impulse.

Realizing being tough wouldn't help, she decided to soften her approach. "Alex, my legs feel numb..." she said carefully.

As she called him "Alex" in that gentle tone, with her pleading expression, something inexplicable stirred within him. He instinctively pulled her up.

But just as Ellie managed to stand, she shoved past him and dashed toward the living room.

Alex's expression darkened, and he swiftly followed her. "Don't you dare lie to me!"

He seized Ellie's wrists, lifting them above her head and pinning her against the wall of the bedroom. His intense gaze locked onto her face, demanding a response. Feeling overwhelmed, Ellie quickly averted her gaze. "What are you doing? It's late! Are you crazy?"

As Ellie's words hung in the air, Alex suddenly closed the distance, pinning her against the vanity. "One more word, and I'll show you what crazy really looks like!"

Ellie's gaze locked with Alex's, and chills ran down her spine at the dangerously unfamiliar look in his eyes.

In a panic, she turned her head and bit down on his arm, trying to free herself. Alex dodged with swift reflexes.

Ellie slid down, desperately attempting to escape from underneath him, but Alex caught her waist and lifted her onto the vanity. The closeness made Ellie's head spin.

"That hurts," she exclaimed, clutching her waist and looking at him with feigned agony.

Without a second thought, he released her and went to lift her nightgown, "Show me where it hurts."

In response, Ellie kicked out, aiming for Alex's groin! The next second, he grabbed her leg and yanked her forward, leaving her momentarily weightless as he pushed her onto the bed behind them.

Before Ellie could even begin to rise, he pinned her down. Their bodies pressed together, and the cold metal of his belt brushed against her. Her heart raced uncontrollably as she stared wide-eyed at Alex, frozen in place.

Chapter 88

Alex firmly pinned Ellie's arms above her head with one hand while propping himself up beside her with the other, looking down at the struggling Ellie, who was desperately trying to hold her breath. Finally, he spoke, "Can we talk properly now?" Seeing Ellie nod obediently, Alex's demeanor softened, and the intensity in his voice decreased. "Listen to me, you have to refuse this kinship acknowledgement."

Ellie opened her mouth, her hesitation palpable. If she provoked him right now, he might do something reckless.

Alex's attention drifted to her slightly parted lips, desire swirling in his gaze, making his breaths become heavier.

Fighting against the raw urge to close the distance between them, he struggled to maintain control.

Though Ellie had never been with a man, she wasn't naive either. With Alex's intentions so clear, she would have to be blind not to see it.

"Ah, that hurts!" Ellie yelped suddenly. Realizing he had acted out of line, Alex quickly let go and rolled off her.

As soon as Ellie was free, she kicked him off the bed.

Alex, landing on one foot, felt no pain as he stood up beside the bed. He watched as Ellie dove into the covers to grab her phone and call for help, making Alex's forehead twitch in irritation.

Leaping back onto the bed, he took two steps to her side and snatched her phone from her hands. Then, he slammed it against the wall until it was completely destroyed.

"You owe me for that!" Ellie shouted, picking up the shattered remains of her phone, her eyes filling with anger.

"If you do as I say, I'll give you anything you want!" Alex replied, stepping closer to wipe the tears from the corner of her eye, only for Ellie to pull away in disgust.

"Live your life, and let me handle mine! This has nothing to do with you," she shot back.

Alex met her glare, determination lining his expression. "Your business is my business!"

He paused, locking his gaze onto Ellie's. "Ellie, remember this: do what I have said!"

That was it. Ellie exploded, shouting back, "Why can't I?"

Alex's intense gaze pierced through Ellie's soul, and they locked eyes for what felt like an eternity. Finally, he asked, "Do you really want to know?"

Before Ellie could reply, he abruptly released her and stormed toward the open balcony door.

"Stop right there!" Ellie yelled, her heart racing as she lunged to block his path.

The unexpected rush of youthful feelings had swept her off her feet from the very start, leaving no chance for retreat. As time passed, she went from pretending to be indifferent to genuinely feeling nothing-she had endured far too much. She tried to turn the page not to forgive anyone, but to release herself from the burden. The way she once loved so deeply and humbly now left her feeling embarrassed and regretful.

It was all in the past, and she absolutely couldn't let Alex find out that she had secretly liked him for seven years!
