Its just past three in the afternoon the next day, inside the office of the CEO of the Warren family

Chris approached Alex just as he was finishing a meeting and preparing to leave the office. "Mr. Warren, there's a board meeting scheduled in forty monates, Chris said.

"Move it to next

it to next Monday"

Alex grabbed his suit jacket off the couch and left.

Chris stopped Barry. "Mr. Jensen, this

Later that evening, at the Warren Manor, Ellie deliberately chose to come over when Alex wasn't around.

The weather forecast predicted a typhoon that night, and she wanted to finish up quickly and head back

Ellie began moving some precious flowers and plants that Carlos usually tended himself into the greenhouse.

Til do it, he said. Suddenly, her load lightened as Alex took the pot from her hands.

Not far behind them. Barry picked up the suit jacket that Alex had discarded to grab the flower pot and quickly stepped aside.

Ellie took a step back and didn't say a word to Alex.

And so it went. Ellie moved pots while Alex followed suit. Ellie trimmed bonsai trees while Alex handed her tools

The garden usually had staff managing it, so Ellie only needed to take care of a few precious orchids that Carlos personally looked after, which didn't take long

With Alex's helpful hands on deck, Ellie finished up in no time.

"Here" Alex said, handing her a boule of water after she washed her hands.

After washing her hands, Alex handed Ellie a bottle of water,

Ellie glanced at him but didn't take it, sidestepping him as she exited the greenhouse.

There's a t

a typhoon coming. I'll drive you home," Alex said, following her into the garden

Ellie stopped in her tracks and turned to Alex, "Don't forget the promise you made?"

Alex was at a loss for words,

"My boyfriend's here to pick me up

up" Ellie said, walking away without looking back.

Ellie's word "boyfriend" struck Alex like a bolt of lightning, leaving him frozen, unable to move another step.

"Mr. Warren, the hospital is calling."

Evan,

Hearing Evan's voice, Alex turned around.

Lennard, alon't bother coming to

Elle walked away from the Warren Manor, waiting for Leonard to pick her up.

The sudden storm brought heavy rain, leaving her with nowhere to hide.

Luckily, she was used to carrying an umbrella, and immediately called Leonard, telling him not to come.

But before she could hang up, the storm flipped her unbrella inside out

Elle dropped the umbrella and looked around.

Though she had been walking for a while, she was still at the edge of the Warren family's estate greenbelt.

Soon, the sky was completely covered by the dark clouds, and everything turned pitch black.

On the roadside, Elle, soaked to the skin, found a tree to shelter herself behind. Just as she pressed her back against the trunk, the sound of the wind snapping trees in half echoed around her. Her body was uncontrollably swept by the strong winds, unable to stand, and she fell to the ground multiple times, unable to get

back up

Just then, she heard a loud crack-a massive tree nearby was split in two by the storm, and an overwhelming sense of fear and despair washed over

ber.

"Get in the car!

A familiar voice suddenly sounded behind her, and then Alex scooped her up in one swift motion.

Stuffed into the luxury car by Alex, Ellie was still in shock.

Alex

into the driver's seat, looking at Ellie, whose face was pale and eyes filled with terror. Without a word, he leaned over and pulled her tightly into his armL.

His clothes were mostly soaked, and his chest was noticeably heaving. He wrapped one arm around Ellie's waist and gently ruffled her hair with the other, saying, "Don't be scared, I'm here!" His voice

voice was clearly trembling, and his hand gently stroking Ellie's back was also shaking slightly.

Ellie was so frightened that she let Alex hold her like this.

Listening to his familiar words, Ellie felt like she was in a daze.

Without realizing it, her tense nerves began to relax

Alex didn't waste any time, he let go of Ellie to fasten her seatbelt and quickly started the car.

"You can't drive!"

Seeing Alex trying to forcefully drive, Ellic grabbed the steering wheel. "It's way too dangerous to drive now."

The

car was violently shaking, rattling with the sound of stones and debris thrown against it by the stom

Even with the windshield wipers on full speed, it was pitch black ahead, and nothing was visible.

Allex turned his head to look at Ellie, lus eyes more serious than she'd ever seen, and said, "No matter how dangerous it gets, I'll never let anything happen to you!" Their eyes mort, and Ellie dook her head. "You're crazy, I don't trust you."

"Trust it or not, you have no choice now!"

Alex took off his jacket and put it directly

it directly over Ellie's head.

Then he leaned over to hold her, his voice softening without realizing it, and said, "Ellie, just stay calm and don't distract me. Close your eyes and

want for me to tell you when to open them."

Alex let go of Ellie, and she instinctively gripped the seatbelt tightly

She didn't dare take off the jacket over her head. She closed her eyes, waiting for him to park.

The car wobbled the whole way, and she couldn't remember how many times Alex slammed on the brakes.

Just when she felt the car might be swept up by the typhoon, suddenly wind and rain blew in, and the seatbelt was unfastened.

Before she could pull the jacket off her head, Alex had already gotten her out of the car.

Around a corner at the adult store, Alex set Ellie down and pulled the jacket from her head, draping it over her. "We're safe now,"

Before Alex could finish his sentence, a loud crash came from outside.

They both looked toward the doorway as Alex's car got caught by the typhoon, crashed into the building in front, flipped over, and was swept away.

The adult store's glass door had shattered, leaving shards scattered all over the floor, along with a jumble of adult products.

The two hid in the corner by the door. Alex propped his hands against the wall, shielding Ellie from the storm outside with his body.

Ellie leaned against the wall, listening to the raging storm outside, her eyes downcast to avoid Alex's intense gaze.

"Be good, close your eyes and rest for a bit,"

Above her, Alex's quiet voice reached her, but Ellie didn't respond.

She was indeed tired, but she didn't dare to close her eyes and rest.

Alex was looking down at her exhausted face, inching closer with care.

With one hand, he slowly slid down to

grip her shoulder, then gently pulled her toward him.

Feeling her resistance, Alex didn't let go but tightened his embrace even more. "No matter how much of a jerk I can be, I won't hurt yo reassured her.

And he continued, "you'll get a headache if you stay up too late. Just close your eyes and lean on me."

you

now," he

Ellie pushed against his chest with both hands, trying to create some distance. She looked up at him, her voice firm. "Alex, don't forget your promise." Outside, it looked like the sky had been ripped apart, as heavy rain poured down and the typhoon wreaked havoc.

Inside, the dim light cast shadows as Alex looked down

at Ellie.

Seeing the clear reluctance in Ellie's eyes, Alex's grip on her lower back suddenly tightened.
