Chapter 2
Chapter 2 A Tough Job
Five years later.
At the planning department of Wilby Company.
At ten o’clock in the morning, when everyone was busy, a group of people gathered together, discussing something with relish.
The grandson of the Parker family, from the Parker Group, was about to turn five years old. The Parker family’s patriarch and matriarch were known for their doting on their grandson, and every year they would wrack their brains to find the best planning to hold a grand birthday banquet for their grandson.
This year was no exception. Many event planning companies were racking their brains, all vying for this opportunity.
Unexpectedly, Wilby Company was lucky enough to get the chance to hold the birthday banquet.
“It’s strange. In previous years, the Parker Group only cooperated with large companies. Why did they choose us this year? Although our company has some reputation in the industry, it’s not enough to catch their attention.”
“I heard that the Parker family let their grandson choose a company for himself. I don’t know why he chose our company.”
“Isn’t this a good thing? To be able to cooperate with the Parker Group is a lot of people’s dream, isn’t it? If we do it well, our bonus might even double. I heard that Pinecrist Company, which was responsible for planning the birthday banquet last year, received a reward of more than 200 thousand dollars, which is simply insane!”
“What’s the big deal? When their grandson was one year old, he received a luxury yacht as a birthday gift. At two years old, he received a private plane. At three years old, he received a luxury chateau in Franlania. At four years old, he got twenty percent of the shares of the Parker Group. Now he’s worth billions of dollars!”
“Ah, that’s enough. This kind of glorious life is simply insane. I don’t envy it at all!”
“Indeed, we can’t envy it. We ordinary people should just work hard. After all, being born into a wealthy family is a tough job…”
Listening to the discussions of the people around her, Anna was a little absent-minded, with a faint self-mockery on her lips.
Being born into a wealthy family was indeed a tough job. People like her probably had no connection to wealthy families for their entire lives.
Not only was she kicked out of the house by her family, but she also had a string of bad luck. The money she had earned was long gone, and her mother was still in a coma… As for the child, she had never seen him again.
Thinking about it, that baby was probably already five years old this year, the same age as the grandson of the Parker Group.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
That child was still the source of regret and pain that she couldn’t erase in her heart. She didn’t know if he was doing well or not.
Anna sniffed and suppressed the sourness in her nose.
Suddenly, a stern shout came from beside her. “Anna Jenkins, I asked you to make a copy of a document. Why are you taking so long? I just can’t understand. How did you even get hired with such limited abilities?”
That was Mia Anderson, the director of the planning department.
Anna just graduated this year and had been interning for only two months. On the day of Anna’s interview, Mia’s sister had also come, and it was said that Mia had reserved a spot for her. Unexpectedly, Anna had taken that spot instead.
Since then, Mia had been finding ways to take advantage of Anna. She was very arrogant!
However, Mia was the department head, so no one dared to confront her, and everyone had to turn a blind eye.
Anna couldn’t hide her disgust in her eyes, but she quickly took the documents and walked over, saying, “Here is the copy.”
Unexpectedly, as soon as she approached, Mia dropped her coffee cup to the ground and angrily said, “Can’t you see where you’re going? Clean up the mess on the floor immediately!”
Anna frowned.
She hadn’t even touched Mia! It was a completely false accusation!
“It wasn’t me,” Anna calmly replied.
Mia was furious. Her face, which had once been somewhat attractive, twisted in an instant, her tone of voice becoming sharp and sarcastic as she said, “Anna Jenkins, do you still want to work here? If you don’t, then get the hell out of here! There are plenty of people who want your position.”
Anna clenched her teeth, her eyes showing a hint of endurance.
Of course, she wanted to keep working here. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have endured for so long.
Her mother was still in the hospital, and Anna needed to provide medical expenses every month. When Anna was in school, she had to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. Now, this job paid well, so she didn’t want to lose it.
However, Mia was such a mean person!
The others couldn’t help but feel a bit angry.
After all, Anna was cute and pretty, and her personality was likable. She had good relationships with people working here.
Mia, on the other hand, as the department head, was highly capable and valued by the company, so no one dared to complain about anything.
Knowing this, Mia smirked and said, “If you want to work here, then why are you just standing there? Hurry up and clean it! And remember to use your hands to wipe it clean!”
Anna clenched her fists but ultimately chose to do as Mia said. She turned to get cleaning supplies.
“Hold on!”
Just then, a soft and adorable voice sounded from outside the door.
Everyone turned to look and saw a young boy in a small suit walking in with a cool swagger, taking small steps with his short legs.
His features were exquisitely delicate, with fair skin and a beautiful pair of big, sparkling eyes that resembled black gemstones. The corners of his eyes were slightly upturned, giving off an air that he would grow up to be a troublemaker.
He exuded an aura of nobility that couldn’t be concealed.
Behind the young boy was a row of stylish bodyguards, all of them looking serious and respectful.
Everyone’s gaze was captivated by the young boy, and they couldn’t help but wonder, “Who is this adorable little boy? He looks so cute and charming. I want to take him home!”
The young boy paid no attention to anyone else and walked straight to Anna and Mia. He tilted his head slightly, giving Mia a cold glance that was filled with an indescribable chill and dominance.
Then, he turned his gaze to Anna, his eyes now filled with curiosity and scrutiny.
