The familiar sound of clicking high heels reverberated in the roen, accompanied by the pungent scent of perfume 

It was Yvette Maddox, the woman who had not only taken Natalie’s retina but was also the love of Calvin’s life. 

Natalie frowned in contempt, and before she could even consider calling for help, Yvette spoke up. 

“Don’t bother calling for help. Eve sent everyone away. The latter’s voice dripped with stugress. 

Natalie’s response lacked any semblance of politeness, “Why are you here?” 

“Thave nothing left to give. What more could she possibly want from me?” she pondered 

Yvette remained unfazed by Natalie’s attitude, smiling as she replied in a lively tone. “Of course, I’m here to deliver some good news and bad news.” 

Natalie said nothing 

“You’re pregnant.” 

“Pregnant thought Natalie in horror. 

In a trice, her face turned ashen. 

Seeing that, Yvette grinned even more satisfactorily. “Needless to say, Calvin has no plans to keep your baby, for I’m pregnant too!” 

“Yvette is pregnant too?” Natalie mused 

Her pupils constricted, and her calm facade crumbled, 

“How could Calvin do this?” she thought.. 

Her already pale face grew even whiter, and her b*dy that was seated in the wheelchair trembled violently 

She clenched her fists in a death grip as she held back her rage, cognizant that Yvette was here to flaunt. As Natalie was already in a wretched state, she refused to lose her last shred of dignity. 

Despite her trembling, she took a deep breath and did her best to remain composed. “Is that so? I’ve asked him for a divorce, but he hasn’t agreed.” 

The woman standing not far away stiffened upon hearing that. 

Natalie could clearly sense Yvette’s disconfort 

The corner of the former’s l*ps quirked up. “So what if you have my retina and are pregnant? It seems like he isn’t willing to give you the position of Mrs Jeffords” 

Natalie was not saying this out of love for Calvin but rather to put an end to Yvette’s continued humiliation of her 

Although she had decided to end things with Calvin in the face of this woman who came to provoke her she remaned 

“Ha! You’re just rambling so much to prove he loves you hul? But ask yourself this. Natalie. If he truly loves you, why would 

he imast on giving 

Yvette’s eyes were relieved of lanternes, and hea voit tiger

Chapter 2 

Yvette’s laughter pierced Natalie’s heart, shattering the latter’s pretenses entirely.

Undoubtedly, these words dealt Natalie a heavy blow, as what Yvette said was true 

Natalie thought bitterly. If Calvin truly loved me, I wouldn’t be in my current predicament 

Our decade-long relationship ended in such a cruel way. 

It was unknown when Yvette left, but Natalie continued sitting there for a long time.

Thick smoke soon enveloped her, choking her to the point where tears welled up in her eyes. Panic and fear crossed her small face when realization datened on her, 

She started to move her wheelchair toward the door. 

However, wherever she went, the sounds of objects crashing and falling surrounded her, and after numerous consecutive tumbles, she eventually lost all sense of direction. 

Cough! 

Natalie’s vacant eyes widened with helplessness as she sat on the ground and gripped her sore throat that burned from the 

thick sincke 

Terror was written all over her pallid face. 

Alas, at this juncture, a particularly car-piercing voice resounded from ourside the door. 

“How could Mr. Jeffords do such a thing and try to burn Mrs. Jeffords alive? Quick, let’s call the fire department 

“Shut up. Just pretend we didn’t see anything” 

Those words sent a chilling shock through Natale 

“Calvin’s the one who wants me dead?” she ruminated. 

Despair wholly consumed her, extinguishing her resolve to escape. “So be it, then Death will perlsaps be a relief for me, she reflected. 

The smoke grew increasingly thicker, and Natalie’s breathing became even more labored. Not a single tear had fallen when she discovered the news of her husband having an affair with his secretary, nor had she cried when the fear of darkness overwhelmed her after she woke up blind in the hospital. 

Yet now, tears ran down her cheeks as she learned of Yvette’s pregnancy and Calvin’s willingness to burn her and their unborn child alive despite their decade-long relationship. 

The waves of scalding fire advanced toward her, searching every inch of her skin. “Ahh Natalie’s desperate, ghastly sereams of any echoed throughout the mansion. 

As the roaring flames engulfed Natalie, her only wish was to turn back time and erase Cams from her world.
