Chapter 184
Chapter 184 Father and Son Meet for the First Time
Tessa was arrested, and that was undoubtedly great news!
However, this joy only lasted for two seconds as Chandler asked, “What about Erin? Was Jack caught too?”
“When Tessa was arrested, she was disguised and buying baby products at the supermarket. Due to the baby’s crying. Tessa became agitated and slapped the baby twice on the spot. This incident was quickly reported by the local residents to the police. She was arrested. but Jack was nowhere to be seen when she was apprehended.”
Osborn’s words surprised Chandler, and he quickly asked, “Baby?”
For some reason, when he heard that word, his heart suddenly ached severely.
Osborn continued, “After Tessa was arrested overseas, the officers noticed her suspicious behavior while disguised, which immediately prompted them to investigate. That’s when they found out that Tessa was a fugitive we’d been searching for. While Tessa was being interrogated overseas, the officers brought in a local lawyer who could speak Coandrian. But no matter what language the lawyer spoke. Tessa remained silent and refused to admit to any wrongdoing. Upon further investigation, they discovered that both Tessa’s passport and the baby’s passport were fake. As for the baby’s identity, it is still unknown, but the baby will be brought back to the country as well.”
“Good! I’ll be waiting for her. I want to interrogate her personally.”
Two days later, at 11 pm. Chandler appeared at the airport with fifty special forces bodyguards. Osborn arrived with thirty police officers to
coordinate with the foreign officers as well.
Twenty minutes later, Tessa, wearing handcuffs and a prison uniform, was escorted off the plane by two foreign officers.
The moment Chandler saw Tessa, the murderous intent he’d been holding in for a long time was fully revealed.
At that moment, Tessa appeared somewhat desolate and defeated, but as she passed by Chandler, she suddenly laughed out loud. “Even
if you’ve caught me, so what? Erin won’t come back to life-”
Her words triggered Chandler to the extent that he nearly drew his gun to end her life right there. Kyle, who was the closest to him, lowered
his voice and promptly reminded, “Mr. Frost, let’s not make this hard for Osborn. The foreign officers are here too.”
Chandler lowered his gaze, forcefully restraining the raging anger within him. He forced himself to calm down and refused to believe
Tessa’s words.
“It can’t be … Erin must be fine!” He fervently prayed in his heart.
Tessa was taken away by Osborn. Standing where he was, Chandler’s attention was immediately drawn to a female detective who was approaching. The baby basket she held in her hands emitted the softest ray of light in the world, and Chandler felt as if his blood had
frozen in his veins. He couldn’t explain why his heart palpitated so violently and uncontrollably.
Thinking of Erin, who had been missing for over eight months, he wondered if their child was born by now. He wondered if their child was
still alive.
Right then, the foreign female detective smiled and handed the baby to Chandler. She remarked in a foreign language. “You must be the father of this baby boy, right? He really looks so much like you!”
Chandler was visibly shaken. A few seconds after he laid his eyes on the baby who was soundly asleep in the basket. He put a hand over his mouth to stop himself from bawling in earnest.
Tears welled up in his eyes, and he immediately understood what the female detective said despite not knowing a word of the language. she spoke.
As her words fell, Chandler’s eyes caught sight of the breathtakingly beautiful little face of the baby boy. It melted his heart instantly.
He couldn’t help but choke out, “My son-”
Even Kyle, who was standing beside Chandler, almost lost his footing. Anyone could quickly see that the sleeping child in the basket was related to Chandler. Though the child was still very tiny, being only a few days old, his facial features resembled Chandler’s greatly.
The female detective was also moved by the scene and silently wiped away tears.
Half an hour later, Chandler left the airport with his son and his bodyguards in low.
On the way back, Kyle drove the car Chandler was in. The bodyguards escorted them by driving separate cars in front and behind them.
Chandler stared at the baby in the basket without moving a muscle.
He’d been looking at him for a full half an hour, but it felt like only a minute had passed for him. His face was covered in tear streaks as he looked at this little face that filled him with joy. He believed that this baby boy was his and Erin’s biological son despite not verifying if this
was indeed the case.
Even without a paternity test, with just one glance, he could recognize his son due to the intense kinship he felt for his own flesh and
blood.
“My son, where is your mother?” Chandler asked gently, careful not to wake his sleeping son.
“You also resemble your mother. But I think it’s better that you take after me. I’m more good–looking than your mother, after all.”
Chandler’s words were somewhat conceited and playful, but the helpless tone and suppressed pain made Kyle, who was driving ahead. tear up. However, he dared not make a sound, as he didn’t want to disturb this significant and louching moment where the father and son
had reunited.
“Daddy will definitely find your mommy. I promise! I won’t let you grow up without a mother-” Chandler’s tears fell heavily onto the blue floral bedding in the baby basket.
His suppressed sobbing eventually woke the angelic little boy. The baby’s brows furrowed with his eyes still tightly closed, but his facial. expression indicated an impending loud cry.
Chandler stopped breathing immediately, and he put a fist against his lips to prevent even the slightest sound from escaping his lips.
Ten odd seconds passed by quietly, and just as Chandler was about to discreetly draw in a breath, the baby unexpectedly opened his
eyes without any warning. His drowsy eyes stared straight at Chandler.
It was this gaze that completely shattered Chandler’s mental defenses that he tried so hard to hold up. He realized that his son’s eyes resembled Erin’s the moment he opened them. 1
Those eyes reminded him of the deepest pain in his heart. Seeing the innocent and naive gaze of his son, Chandler gave in to his pain and
started sobbing inconsolably.
The words Tessa said to him upon getting off the plane came to mind, causing Chandler’s entire body to shiver with cold fear. He was afraid, deathly afraid that her words might be true.
How would he go on living if Erin was gone? Once this thought of despair flashed through his mind, Chandler finally understood that his
love for Erin had run deep beyond his expectations.
Chandler, who had long suppressed his emotions and endured his pain in silence, released the full spectrum of what he’d been feeling up until then in front of his son. He didn’t care if Kyle was present. Everything that happened that night was enough to be etched into his
memory for a lifetime.
He thanked God and the heavens, feeling grateful that fate had allowed him to finally meet his son.
Now that his son was by his side. He must do everything in his power to find the most important woman in his life–Erin.
Half an hour later, after venting all of the emotions he’d been bottling up, Chandler’s mood gradually normalized.
His large hand gently patted his son’s tiny body. The baby boy had fallen asleep again.
Chandler’s eyes seemed to contain endless energy as he looked ahead with a determined expression.
In his heart, he exclaimed, “Wait for me, Erin! From the very beginning until now, I’ve never given up on you, and I ask that you don’t give up on me, or on yourself. I miss you. I really, truly miss you with all my heart-“
