Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien)

Chapter 540 It’s Not Convenient for Damien to Be There

Though Connie's words made Clarissa feel awkward, they also reminded her of something-why had Chanel chosen to come to Eden Investment Corporation, of all the places in Florin? It was obvious Chanel didn't want things to be easy for Clarissa.

Clarissa didn't want to think about these things now, though...

She tried to call Chanel again, but nobody answered. Coincidentally, Damien showed up at this very moment. He was alone.

"Where's Neil?" she asked anxiously.

She noticed that Damien didn't look worried at all. In fact, he looked leisurely. She couldn't help wondering whether these businessmen were all cold-blooded. Charles was like this, and so was Damien.

"I asked Bethany to look after him. I'll go up there." He looked up at Chanel meaningfully and narrowed his eyes, looking extremely displeased with her.

The only thing Clarissa could think about was that no matter how displeased he was with Chanel, he had to remember that a person's life was at stake. If Chanel really did jump, what would that mean for Clarissa?

Damien went to the rooftop. Chanel was weeping with a child by her side.

When she saw Damien, she said, "I don't have the nerve to live anymore!"

She wanted to throw herself into his arms. After all, this was a rare opportunity. She was at her most fragile, and she needed someone to comfort her. But when she saw him standing there with his hands in his pockets, she faltered.

"How did those things end up on the notice boards?" Damien demanded.

Bethany had told him everything when he had passed Neil to her, so he knew what had happened.

"When you returned all the love letters to me, I kept them in a box. It's been so many years that I forgot all about them. I don't know how, but Logan managed to find them. I wanted to throw them away-after all, it's all in the past now. In fact, that's exactly what I did, but I don't know how they ended up on the notice boards. Someone must've picked them up." Chanel buried her face in her hands, seemingly humiliated. She started crying again.

"Mommy, don't cry! What's going to happen to me if you jump?" Logan tugged at her sleeve.

She seemed to falter.

"There's always hope as long as you're alive. Get down from there." Damien turned around to leave.

He seemed sure that she wouldn't jump.

Chanel stroked Logan's face, then followed Damien down.

Her face was still streaked with tears when they got to the foot of the building.

Charles rubbed his chest and heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Chanel come down in one piece. If she had really jumped and caused his office building to become worthless, he would be the next one to jump.

He shook Damien's hand vigorously as thanks. Damien looked poker-faced.

Chanel, Logan, and Clarissa got into his car.

"Dad... no, Uncle Damien, can you keep an eye on Mommy tonight? I'm afraid that she'll do something silly again," Logan said. "She's still very emotional."

Clarissa clenched her fists at Logan's words. She wanted Chanel to continue living, but she didn't want her to try to snatch her man away. Chanel's intentions were gradually surfacing, and she was a much stronger opponent than Madelynn had been.

"I'll watch your Mommy. It's not convenient for your Uncle Damien to watch over her. He's a man, after all," she said.

Chanel glanced at her, then at Damien. She didn't say anything.

This time, she had acted shamelessly to try to win a hug from Damien or at least some comfort, but he hadn't given her anything. In fact, the measly comfort she received had come from Clarissa.

The current Chanel was no longer satisfied with just being able to see Damien. She had grown ambitious, and Clarissa was an obstacle to her.

At first, Chanel only wanted to use Clarissa. Slowly, she started to hate Clarissa. No person was content with what he or she had, and Chanel had gone from wanting to see Damien to wanting him to be hers.
