Chapter 522 Young, Hot Man
Bethany studied Damien from afar before realizing that she couldn't nitpick a single flaw that he had. In fact, he looked as radiant as precious jewels.
"That middle-aged man may be decent, but at the end of the day, he's still a middle-aged man. Young and hot guys, on the other hand, are better in bed." Bethany suddenly remembered something before she added, "Even though your man is good in bed, he won't last for a couple more years."
"Are you judging people based on their looks or their bedroom performance?" Clarissa asked.
Bethany just giggled. "Both, of course!"
"I have his picture, you know. Why don't I give it to you so that you can hug it to sleep?" Clarissa offered nonchalantly.
When Caleb heard her words, he shot her a look before a smile appeared on his face.
Caleb's green outfit stood out in the midst of the white snow that blanketed the earth. It was true he looked very handsome.
When Clarissa saw him, she couldn't help but feel guilty. She had no idea what she should say to him. Caleb must have felt the same too, because the moment Clarissa approached him, he turned around and left with his backpack.
This meant they would only meet up once again when at least two years had passed.
Even though everyone concealed the truth from Mrs. Faber, the university campus was still a place where rumors and gossip constantly flew around. A bunch of students came over earlier to see Caleb off, so Mrs. Faber already knew the gist of what happened. When she saw Clarissa, her eyes darkened slightly, not knowing what to say.
Even though Mrs. Faber was educated enough to keep up with the times, she was also very superstitious by nature. A soothsayer had told her a long time ago that Caleb would be drafted into the army in the future. However, Mrs. Faber had never believed the prediction to be true since she knew of Caleb's outstanding academic results. Now, she completely believed in the prediction.
The reason Caleb joined the military was because of Clarissa.
"Mr. Lawrence, why don't you stay here and take care of your son? I'm quite tired, so I'll head home and prepare dinner for you," Mrs. Faber piped up.
Damien knew she was in a bad mood, so he agreed to her suggestion.
Bethany had a sharp mind who knew how to read the situation. Now that the Lawrences were reunited, she decided to speak up as well. "By the way, my intern sent me a Whatsapp message earlier telling me that she had submitted a report to me. I need to go home and check it out. Clarissa, where's your house key? Hurry up and give it to me. I need to reply to the intern as soon as possible."
Clarissa stared at Bethany, frowning deeply.
The latter remained unaffected as she grabbed the key and headed back to Clarissa's house.
Slam! A snowball was smashed against Clarissa's neck. Neil was giggling happily to himself the whole time.
When she noticed Neil giggling, Clarissa couldn't help but laugh as well. She looked very joyful.
Clarissa grabbed a fistful of snow as well and started pelting Neil with snowballs.
Soon, both of them were playing happily in the snow.
Even though it was a snow day, many students were spotted playing with the snow outside. No one noticed Clarissa and Neil having fun there.
When Damien noticed the duo playing together, he shielded his lighter with a hand to light his cigarette. Then, he started smoking with his eyes narrowed while gazing at the woman and the little boy. It was as if those two were siblings.
Clarissa's clothes were already drenched after a few rounds. However, most of the snowballs that she had launched at Neil mostly missed their target, so the little boy's clothes were still dry and clean. Clarissa was still smiling happily. It was Damien's first time seeing her this happy.
The reason she was very happy was because she got to spend time with Neil. It didn't have anything to do with Damien.
Both mother and son played together for another full hour before Neil said that he wanted to go home.
"Mommy, please walk me home." Neil noticed how soaked Clarissa's clothes and hair were. She was very haggard, with her cheeks rosy from the cold. Still, she looked elated.
"I still have a friend waiting for me at home," Clarissa replied, placing her hands on her knees and bending down to look at Neil.
"That friend of yours is already an adult, so she can take care of herself. I'm still a little boy and I don't know how to take care of myself. Mommy, aren't you going to worry about me?" Neil looked very displeased.
Clarissa found herself unable to refute Neil's logic, so she had no choice but to walk him home.
