Chapter 50
Chapter 50 Is That Why You're Sleeping on My Bed? Clarissa spent the remaining time talking to Anne. Just then, Grandpa Lawrence texted Clarissa and asked about her mother's condition. His gesture touched Clarissa deeply. She replied to him, saying, "It's all good, Grandpa." "Who are you talking to, Clarissa?" Luke asked. "None of your business."
But Luke immediately knew that it was Grandpa Lawrence,
It seemed Clarissa had a good relationship with Grandpa Lawrence.
The knowledge gave him a flash of inspiration. "Luke, is your mother okay?" Joseph asked from outside the room "She's fine. Are you leaving now?" "Yes."
Luke glanced at Clarissa again. Judging by the atmosphere between Joseph and lier. it was obvious that the talk didn't go well.
Luke bit his lips in dissatisfaction and walked out of the room.
Clarissa left too after realizing that it was almost four in the evening.
Even as she left, Madelynn was still working on her filming in the hospital. Clarissa ignored Madelynn completely as she hurried past the latter.
However, Madelynn had heard the entire conversation between Clarissa and Joseph.
At the entrance, Damien told Clarissa that he would pick her up in five minutes.
After getting into the car. Damien focused on his phone call and discussed his business plans with his subordinates.
And that bored Clarissa, who starled scrolling her phone in response before ending up falling asleep. Damien ended his call only when they were about to reach home.
"You've fallen asleep," he said. Clarissa woke up with her eyes half closed and mumbled, "Just for a bit."
"What have you been doing all night? Why are you so tired?" Damien teased Clarissa
Clarissa turned to the other side, ignoring him. During dinner, Grandpa Lawrence was especially concerned about the condition of Clarissa's ailing mother. Clarissa was again touched by Grandpa Lawrence's kindness, especially when he was sick
himself. Her eyes teared up almost instantly after remembering that Grandpa Lawrence only had a few months left.
After dinner, Damien went upstairs.
Not long after, Clarissa went into his room too with a pillow in hand.
Ever since Clarissa moved to another room, he had been sleeping in the middle of the bed.
He put down his book and looked at Clarissa with his arms crossed. "What's the meaning of this?"
"I want to sleep here," Clarissa replied under her breathi.
"Oh." Darnien started laughing, amused, "Really? Didn't you say that you've grown used to sleeping alone?" "Well...not quite. I'm still scared. Can you scooch over?" Clarissa couldn't look into his eyes. After all, Clarissa was still a young adult. Plus, she had explained herself properly earlier.
Even if Damien wasn't comfortable with her donation, there wasn't much that he could do as Zach had already passed away.
And so, Damien moved over to the side.
As Clarissa was climbing onto the bed, she accidentally bumped into his arm. His body felt strangely warm.
On the other hand, his room was freezing cold.
Aster mustering up her courage, Clarissa buried herself under the blanket and snuggled close to Damien. Damien, of course, couldn't take it.
However, he still managed to hold back his urges. To Clarissa, he simply seemed unbothered.
"Thank you." Clarissa listed her head and peered at him with puppy eyes.
"What for?"
"For the caregiver." "Is that why you're sleeping on my bed?"
"No,"
Damien couldn't hold it in anymore. He switched off the lights and immediately turned to Clarissa's side.
Clarissa pushed him with both her hands to stop him. "W-Wait." "What is it again?" Damien growled, sounding impatient. "Be gentle..."
"I wasn't gentle?" Damien asked. "Yeah, you weren't." "rine, I'll try." Clarissa went speechless at liis shameless remark.
