Chapter 48

Chapter 48 Flirty Clarissa went into the other room as usual. However, Damien didn't allow her back to his room. The next day was Saturday. When Clarissa woke up, it was already ten in the morning. Going downstairs, she saw Damien chatting with her grandfather at the dining table. She had no idea how long they'd been chatting, or when they had finished their breakfast. Just then, her stomach growled loudly. Damien glanced at her briefly before continuing his conversation with Grandpa Lawrence, as if he didn't notice anything. "Madam, do you wish to have your breakfast or lunch?" Mrs. Faber couldn't help but tease Clarissa.
"Oh, anything will do. Thanks, Mrs. Faber." Clarissa was still not used to being served, so she felt sorry for having to trouble Mrs. Faber every time.
"Sure, let me make you something. I'll be right back."
"Do you have any plans today, Clarissa?" Grandpa Lawrence asked Clarissa. Grandpa Lawrence had always treated Clarissa like his own child, which was the exact opposite of his treatment of Damien. Clarissa looked at Damien as she replied, "I visit my mother every week, and I'm planning to do so today. May I?"
Before, Clarissa accidentally exposed everything to Damien. Now, there was no reason for her to make up excuses to visit her mother anymore.
"Of course," Damien said.
"Is Clarissa's mother sick? Shouldn't you visit her too?" Grandpa Lawrence was confused. He added sternly, "This isn't how we raised you, Damien."
Clarissa never expected Damien to accompany her. Deep down, she knew that everything between her and Damien was ultimately fake.
"Sure," Damien agreed almost instantly.
His response only served to make Clarissa nervous.
Just then, Mrs. Faber finished cooking and entered the dining room with a bowl of rice containing a lot of toppings. Among them were fried eggs. However, Clarissa had been allergic to egg yolks since her childhood.
As they usually had eggs for breakfast, it wouldn't be strange even if she skipped the eggs. The reason Clarissa never told Mrs. Faber about her allergies was because she didn't want to trouble Mrs. Faber. She also feared that they would hate her for being a picky eater.
As Clarissa was close to finishing her meal, the untouched eggs left on the side became obvious to everyone.
She was planning to throw it away secretly, even though she knew it probably wasn't the right thing to do. She had no other choice.
"You're not having the egg yolks? I'll have them, then," Damien suddenly said to her. "Oh?" Clarissa listed her head immediately and looked at Damien gratefully. "You can't have egg yolks, right? Pass them to me and you can have the egg whites," Damien repeated his words like a robot.
It took Clarissa a while to understand that he probably read that from the diary.
After all, Zach once mentioned that Clarissa vomited right after eating egg yolks. It seemed like aside from Zach's computer, Damien even went through the diary. However, Clarissa couldn't tell whether Damien was being sincere or if he was simply mocking
her
"Where should I put it?" she asked.
He had already finished his breakfast, so there were no plates or bowls in front of him. "Just feed it to me," he answered casually. Clarissa's hands flinched slightly at his words. Other than in bed, she had never been this physically close to Damien. She held the egg yolks with one hand, and held another palm facing upwards below it to ensure the yolks didn't fall.
She continued to eat her food after feeding Damien, but she could hear her heart pounding loudly against her chest. On the other hand, Damien remained casual and said to his grandfather, "Let's continue, Grandpa."
Clarissa couldn't focus on their conversation anymore, as her mind was occupied with her feeding Damien moments ago.
