Love Blooms In Prenups By Lydia Onions

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Melody hurriedly took out her phone and dialed her boyfriend, Joshua Roth’s number. However, no one picked up after several calls.

As the matter was urgent. Melody hailed a taxi, went to Joshua’s place, and thought it was easier to talk face–to–face.

“He should be at home at this hour,” she reckoned.

After half an hour, Melody arrived at Lily Residence and entered Joshua’s house after swiping the access card.

As Joshua gave her his house key and access card back then so that she could pass him some stuff to his place, she could enter his residence freely.

When she stepped inside, there was no one in the living room. Thinking Joshua might be still asleep, she walked to the bedroom and heard a voice that made her heart beat faster, and her cheeks flushed as she inched closer.

Melody was no naive girl. Just by listening to the sound, she could tell what was going on in the room.

A fresh swell of rage rose in her in an instant. Gently pushing the half–closed bedroom door open, the first thing she saw was feminine products and clothes scattered on the ground.

A nauseating stench filled the air in the bedroom. Holding her breath, Melody took a few inore steps forward.

Then, the scene in front of her almost made her puke. Joshua was kissing her best friend, Natasha Heyes, passionately and the sound of their lips pressed together gave her goosebumps.

“You’re so mesmerizing. Darling. Joshua claimed Natasha’s lips while praising her.

“Then, tell me, who do you like more, me or Melody?” asked Natasha as she rested her soft body on Joshua’s, making Joshua hard and could not hold back his lust anymore.

“Of course, it’s you, Darling. Melody is such a dull woman, and I have to persuade her for half a day only to hold her hand. She’s not as lovable as you, Darling, exclaimed Joshua, who had fallen head over heels for Natasha.

“Could we do it one more time?” asked Natasha in a delicate voice.

After Natasha let out a soft moan, she gasped at the sight of Melody standing at the door. Then, she quickly hid underneath Joshua to cover herself.

Following Natasha’s gaze and looking in that direction, Joshua’s face turned grim at the sight of Melody.

Immediately, he sat up straight and turned to face Melody while Natasha’s naked body was completely visible after Joshua shifted his body.

Melody stared at Natasha calmly as the latter let out another yelp.

Seeing how Natasha was provoking her on purpose, Melody lost her temper, stepped forward, and gave a smack on Natasha’s face.

The crisp and loud sound resounded in the air.

“How could you do this to me, Natasha! You’re my best friend, and I always treat you well. How dare you seduce my boyfriend behind my back?”

Swaying her slightly numb hand, Melody was burning with rage. Although she was patient, one would lose one’s temper if being pushed to the limit.

When Joshua saw the scene, he quickly shoved Melody aside and exclaimed, “This is all my fault, Melody. Natasha did nothing wrong. You can blame me all you want.”

Watching Joshua standing up for another woman, Melody was disappointed in him at that moment. “Joshua, you might be the one who has feelings for me first, but I take our relationship very seriously. Too bad you don’t know how to treasure it. We should go our separate ways from now on.”

A hint of determination lurked in Melody’s unkind words. Joshua panicked and leaned forward to grab her upon hearing that, but the latter stumbled backward and avoided him.

“Melody, I was blinded by lust. You’re the person who I love most. Can we please start again?”

Melody muttered indifferently. “Men who cheat disgust me the most.”

Seeing how Melody was disgusted by him, Joshua was irritated.

“You’re no different from me anyway! Do you remember the rumors back then about you having a sugar daddy during high school? If it weren’t for your looks, I wouldn’t have dated you in the first place!”

Then, Melody slapped Joshua across the face forcefully.

“This is what you get for cheating with Natasha behind my back, Joshua. We are over. You can date her all you want, and I

don’t care.”

Chapter 2

The heavy slap had Joshua simmering with rage as he pointed at Melody and screamed, “Just you wait! No one would want to date a pathetic person like you. I’ll wait for you to beg me to take you back.”

“I don’t need your concern, and you should worry about yourself instead. Be careful not to get any diseases from her replied Melody as she glanced at Natasha. There seemed to be a hidden meaning behind her words.

“Y–You….” stuttered Natasha in sheer anger. Nevertheless, she held herself back and pleaded, “Melody, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault, and I should not have had feelings for Joshua. Please don’t blame him for it. I don’t want to ruin your relationship. I’ll leave now.”

When Natasha scrambled to stand up, Joshua grabbed onto her and said, “Tasha, you don’t have to apologize to her. You’ve done nothing wrong.”

Snuggling in Joshua’s embrace, Natasha glanced at Melody with a hint of provocation lurking in her gaze.

“She is good at putting on a show, after all. Why didn’t I see that all these years?” Melody remarked inwardly.

Melody left, closed the door, and entered the elevator. After the elevator door closed, she leaned against the wall and slowly slid down.

The compelling look on her face disappeared as her entire body went weak. Apparently, she was more devasted by the fact that she did not manage to get the money to pay for her mother’s hospital bills than finding out Joshua had cheated on her.

Feeling dejected, she left Lily Residence and hailed a car without checking whether it was a taxi.

After the car pulled up in front of her, she opened the door and got into the passenger’s seat.

“To Quadfield, please.”

Then, she leaned against the chair.

Seeing the devastated look on Melody’s face through the rearview mirror, the driver could not help but think, “She just hopped onto the car suddenly. I wonder who she is.”

No matter how hard the driver tried to signal her, she just avoided his gaze.

“This woman is quite brazen,” the driver remarked inwardly.

Then, glancing at the man, who remained calm, in the rearview mirror, the driver let out a breath of relief.

Their eyes met. The man nodded when the driver was about to ask him whether to kick Melody, who showed up suddenly out of nowhere, out of the car.

With that, the driver immediately understood what the man meant and started the engine again.

Meanwhile, Joshua’s face twisted into a grimace from frustration when he chased after Melody and saw her getting into a limited edition Lamborghini.

“No wonder she’s so determined to break up with me. I see she has gotten herself a rich boyfriend. There is no way a young man could afford such a luxurious car. The rumors back then in high school are true, after all. How indecent of her, Joshua grumbled inwardly.

After twenty minutes, the driver pulled up at the residential area entrance in Quadfield and said to Melody, who seemed to be still in a daze, “Miss, we have arrived in Quadfield.”

Only then did Melody come to her senses when she heard the driver’s voice. Then, she hurriedly took out her purse from her bag-

“Oh. Thank you. How much is it?”

Seeing her reaching for her purse, the driver was slightly hesitant and only let out a cough awkwardly.

“You should thank Mr. Mills.”

“Mr. Mills?” Melody mused..

When she turned around to look, she realized a man was sitting next to her.

“Oh my God! I was so upset when I got into the car earlier that I did not notice him all this time,” Melody thought.

Besides, only then did she realize how luxurious the car’s interior looked.

She remarked inwardly, “Why did I think this was a taxi? I must be so mad that I can’t think straight after seeing Joshua and Natasha cheating behind my back.”

Twitching her lips awkwardly, Melody flashed a smile and said, “I beg your pardon. How much should I pay you?”

Then, a mellow voice rang in Melody’s ears, soothing and alluring.

“I’m going the same way anyway.”

Melody was rendered speechless as she thought in confusion, “Is he saying I don’t have to pay? Is that what he wants?”

Chapter 2

Shooting the man a few more glances, Melody realized he had a dazzling look, a pair of sparkling blue eyes, a tall hose, and a prominent profile.

His perfectly–sculptured face was stunning as if he was a painting. An incomparable and dignified aura was exuding from his body.

“How could I not notice such a charming person sitting next to me throughout the journey?” she mused.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Goodbye.”

Then, Melody opened the car door and left.

After Melody’s silhouette disappeared from Maverick Mill’s line of sight, he withdrew his gaze.

Surprisingly, he seemed to be fond of her.

“Head to Utopia Hotel

“Yes.”

As Maverick had some personal matters to tend to in Baykeep, he stayed in a presidential suite in Utopia Hotel, where he was a regular customer.

After Melody returned home, she lay exhaustedly on her small and simple bed.

A series of unfortunate events where she failed to get a job and was incapable of paying her mother’s hospital bills stressed her that she could not catch her breath.

There was no way a fresh graduate who did not have a job like her could manage to get 30 thousand dollars in two days.

After Melody had a simple meal at night, she felt much better. Then, she started calling the people she knew to ask for money. However, they made different excuses to turn her down and cut the line when they heard her request.

She only managed to borrow less than 1500 dollars until the next day’s afternoon.

Even after adding her current savings, she still did not have sufficient money to pay the hospital bills.

She wondered in a panic, “What should I do?”

In the end, she had no choice but to dial Joseph’s number.

“I’ll do it. I’ll go to Utopia Hotel tonight, and I hope you keep your words.”

Joseph, who reckoned Melody would give in to him, stilled laughter on the other end of the line.

“Melody, as long as you be good, I still…”

Melody cut the line before he could finish his words while Joseph seethed in a fury.

Clenching her phone, Melody thought. “It’s just a dinner. I wonder what trick you can pull on me.”

At 7 p.m., Melody changed her clothes and took the subway to Utopia Ilotel.

Around 7:40 p.m. Melody arrived at the lobby of Utopia Hotel, where Joseph was already there waiting for her.

At the sight of Melody wearing a white T–shirt and a pair of jeans, Joseph furrowed his brow discontentedly as he thought, “She could never change that habit of hers.”

Ignoring Joseph’s gaze, which was filled with contempt, Melody said without hesitation, “Where is my money?”

Joseph bellowed, “I’ll give it to you after dinner.”

After saying that, he turned around and left while Melody caught up to him after hesitating for a second.

Melody followed Joseph to Room 888, where Dylan was waiting.

“Hello, Mr. Graham. Sorry to keep you waiting. This is my daughter,” said Joseph immediately.

As he spoke, he nudged Melody forward.

The fat middle–aged man’s eyes sparkled at the sight of Melody before he said, “Hello, Mr. Tuffin. No worries, I arrived seconds ago. Please have a seat.”

As Dylan spoke, his gaze was fixated on Melody, making the latter have goosebumps.

Upon seeing this, Joseph shoved Melody close to Dylan while he gestured for her to greet Dylan by casting her a warning glare.

Without a trace of emotion on her face, Melody greeted, “Good evening, Mr. Graham.”

Chapter

Without getting mad. Dylan flashed her a smile and asked her to take a seat.

“Here, have a taste of this. This is the signature dish of Utopia Hotel, and not everyone has the chance to try it.”

As Melody kept her guards up, she did not pick up the fork.

Seeing Melody refusing to eat, Dylan did not force her and reached for a wine bottle and poured her a drink.

“Here. Melody. Have a drink with me.” Dylan gestured for her to clink their glasses while raising his in the air.

Melody did not want to drink. However, she was worried Joseph might refuse to give her the money if she did not eat or drink anything.

Besides, she noticed the newly opened wine bottle and thought, “There shouldn’t be a problem.”

Hence, she picked up the glass and took a sip of the wine.

As it was her first time drinking white wine, the intense tang of alcohol made her cough repeatedly. Her face twisted into a grimace as tears welled up around her eyes.

“Drink slowly, Melody,” urged Dylan as he extended his arm to pat Melody’s back, touching her on purpose at the same

time.

When Melody was about to dodge away, she began to feel dizzy and her vision spinning.

After a short while, Melody collapsed onto the seat from the dizziness.

There was a lecherous gleam in Dylan’s gaze when he saw Melody passing out.

“Mr. Graham, there is a lounge room upstairs. I hope you keep your words.”

“Do you not trust me, Mr. Tuffin? I’ll have the finance department transfer the funds to Tuffin Corporation tomorrow morning.” Staring at Melody, who was unconscious, Dylan was somewhat impatient and quickly promised Joseph. After his plan worked out, Joseph left without a word.
