Love at the Door

Chapter 98

Chapter 98

But after calming down, Melina started feeling a bit disappointed. She’d lost her first. kiss just like that, and the guy she lost it to simply considered it an inconsequential accident.

She didn’t know that had this so–called accident occurred with anyone else, Andrew would’ve tossed that person right out the window.

Even Linda, who’d hung around Andrew for five years now, couldn’t touch him as she pleased.

The atmosphere in the car grew even more stifling, and Melina stopped, touching Andrew’s forehead. His expression started looking a little dark too.

Thinking it was due to the accident, Melina scooted nearer toward the window to put some distance between them, but that only made his expression turn even darker.

Soon, they arrived at Peace Hospital..

Toby was already waiting for them at the same exclusive hospital room reserved for Andrew.

“Hey, Andrew, Melina,” Toby greeted when he saw them, but he was puzzled when Melina kept a straight face without responding in kind.

She’d been fairly cordial with him all along. What had gotten into her today?

Looking rather stern, Melina said, “Andrew’s wounds are inflamed, and he’s running a high fever now. It’s because his wound was still soaked in the wet bandages after he fell into the water yesterday. If you were busy yesterday, Dr. Ludwig, you should’ve just told me. How could you agree to my request and yet not show up to change Andrew’s bandages for him?”

Melina didn’t even bother to hide the fact that she’d asked Toby to tend to Andrew’s

wounds from Andrew.

Meanwhile, Toby was dumbfounded. Not only did he go over to Oakread, he event stayed up with Andrew the whole night!

Had it been his choice not to change Andrew’s bandages? Certainly not! It was

rew who refused to be touched. What else could he do? He couldn’t possibly

subdue Andrew and undress him without his permission, right?

Toby wanted to defend himself, but when he saw Andrew’s icy glance, he instantly figured out what was happening. Andrew was playing tricks and throwing him under

the bus again.

With no choice but to swallow the injustice, Toby explained apologetically, “I’m so

make the time.” sorry, Melina. An urgent surgery came up yesterday, so I co Melina was quite angry, but Toby had apologized, and it wasn’t like he owed her anything in the first place. Moreover, he had an emergency to attend to.

Thus, her expression relaxed. “It’s fine. I’m sure you didn’t do it on purpose, Dr. Ludwig. Quick, take a look at Andrew. His fever is very high, and his wounds looked inflamed to me just now. Do you think it’s serious?”

She even reached out to take Andrew’s shirt off, but at the very next second, her hand was slapped away. Looking at the reddened back of her hand, she was briefly startled, and her mind cleared at once.

Andrew’s earlier attitude had made her feel as though they had a fairly decent relationship, but now, she came back to her senses.

He didn’t seem keen to let her see him undressed, so she said, “Go ahead and check on him, Dr. Ludwig. I’ll wait outside.”

She walked off without another word.

Seeing this, Toby hastily cried out, “Huh? But…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Melina had walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.

Eyeing Andrew helplessly, Toby said, “Oh, Andrew. What you did was very hurtful, okay? Didn’t you say you want to treat Melina better? Even if you didn’t want to let her see your wounds, you should’ve come up with an excuse and explained it properly to her.”

Andrew shot Toby a look and retorted, “I know what I’m doing.”

Toby wanted to roll his eyes. When had Andrew acted as if he knew the right thing to do?

Once, he took revenge against an enemy by tossing the person into a pit of snakes. The man’s howls sent shivers down everyone else’s spine, but Andrew simply said he knew what he was doing and wouldn’t let the man die.

Toby v d to make further comments, but Andrew added curtly, “Don’t use such a friendly one when you say her name.
