Love at the Door

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

After becoming fully awake, Andrew stared at Melina, who sat on his waist. She grabbed her shirt with one hand and clenched the other into a fist.

A headache immediately struck him. Since he just woke up, his voice was raspy and deep. “Let go.”

Seeing Andrew finally speak and loosen his grip on her neck, Melina puffed up her cheeks like an angry squirrel. “You let go of my throat first.”

He let go of her and noticed the bruises on her neck. His eyes flickered as he muttered, “Who said your could come in?”

Feeling oddly nervous, Melina explained, “I noticed you hadn’t woken up at this hour, fainted. I was worried something might have happened, so I came in to check.”

, so I thought you’d

After saying that, Melina felt even more diffident. Before she had entered, Andrew had been sleeping just soundly. Everything had been perfectly fine.

After she showed up, his handsome face had a bruise, and there was blood at the corner of his mouth.

Melina searched for words to somehow fix the situation.

Andrew could feel Melina’s feverish warmth even through the clothes as she sat on his waist. He looked visibly upset. “How long do you plan to sit on me?”

The rich heiresses in Cyntia used to ponder what kind of person or situation could ever make the cold- hearted Andrew show his true feelings. If Melina had joined the conversation, she’d probably suggest punching Andrew.

Just then, Melina realized she was still on top of Andrew and quickly rolled to the side.

It felt like she had done nothing wrong, but it somehow didn’t seem like she was in the right. She entered his room, went up to his bed, and hit him.

However, when Melina felt her life was endangered, her immediate reaction was to fight back. Andrew grabbed her by the throat first, and she just reacted in reflex.

No matter how much she tried to justify it in her mind, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was at fault here. So, she sincerely apologized, “I’m sorry, Andrew, I shouldn’t have entered your room without your consent.”

With that, Melina bolted out of Andrew’s room. When she came downstairs, she let out a long sigh.

He didn’t like her to begin with. On their second day as newlyweds, she’d already hit him. She had no idea if they could ever get along from here.

Inside the bedroom, Andrew wiped the blood off the corner of his mouth. A flicker of emotion stirred in his calm, deep eyes.

He never allowed anyone in when he was resting. The people at the Wentworth residence knew the rules and wouldn’t dare step into his room. At Oakread, this was even more unlikely to happen since no one else had ever stayed overnight before.

“After he became an adult and took charge, he hadn’t faced a situation like this.

But Andrew had indeed hurt someone again. He noticed the bruises on Melina’s neck and was aware of how much strength it took to leave them. But, she wasn’t afraid of him and even apologized.

The unusual wave of emotion was enough to calm the rritation from his insomnia.

Melina bolted out of the room and didn’t know what was on Andrew’s mind. Upon coming downstairs. she heated the breakfast. After waiting for a bit, he finally came down slowly.

With a calm demeanor, she acted like nothing had happened and flashed a sincere smile. “It’s time for breakfast, Andrew.”

Andrew glanced at Melina, realizing she didn’t seem to bear a grudge. Every time he saw her, she always smiled like an idiot. He caught sight of the bruises on her neck, and they seemed too glaring to his liking.

She continued with a grin, “Mr. Wentworth called and said he’s coming over for a meal this weekend, Andrew.”

In her mind, she wanted to come up with something they could both talk about to lighten the mood, hoping he wouldn’t be too upset about getting hit.

But

upon hearing Melina’s words, Andrew’s expression turned cold.

How dare she use Wallace against him?

Looking at the breakfast on the table, Andrew coldly remarked, “I don’t eat anything bought from outside. Today, you’re going to clear out all the weeds and loosen the soil in the yard.”

After finishing speaking, Andrew just turned and walked straight out of the door.

As Melina watched how Andrew left without turning back, the sense of guilt that had been bothering her was all gone.

It wasn’t because he told her to weed and work the soil. It was the fact that she had spent over 60 dollars first thing in the morning.

Melina didn’t even allow herself to eat it. And Andrew just decided he wouldn’t eat it without a second thought. That was very rude of him.

She wasn’t upset about getting choked. After all, she was the one who barged into the room first. But wasting food and money was simply not okay. What an annoying person he was.
