Chapter Love And Fortune A Gamble For Two 88
Chapter 88
"It's a company arrangement, so I don't have a choice."
Gerald was once a board chairman, so he was often ridiculed for the Whitmore family's past glory. The reason the company assigned him this business trip was primarily to embarrass him.
When the Whitmore Group was thriving, minor business partners persistently tried to work with him. Being a man who hated dealing with trivial matters, Gerald typically refused to meet them.
Ironically, the client that he wished to collaborate with now was one of those very small business partners he had rejected years ago.
They insisted that he personally come to negotiate or else they wouldn't sign the contract.
Since Gerald was now an employee, he couldn't deny such requests.
He didn't go in-depth with Emily about the situation, but Angelina overheard their conversation and opened the door.
"Mom, go with Dad. Since he's going on a business trip, you should stay by his side."
Emily, who was still on the phone, was surprised by her sudden appearance. "Oh, you're
awake?"
Angelina hurriedly took the baby from her arms and said, "Dad has to travel rather far this time, and drinking would be unavoidable. Hence, it's best if you accompany him to watch after him."
Emily hadn't thought about this before. She asked Gerald, "Does the company allow spouses to follow along?"
"I'm not sure, but I think it shouldn't be a problem."
Angelina took the phone from her and stated, "Dad, the place you're traveling to is far, and you're still new to the company. If somebody there has evil motives, it might be bad for you. Let Mom go with you." Gerald asked, "What about the house?"
"I will take care of everything. I can cook and prepare meals for Isadora and Chester. Plus, I'll look after Catherine."
After the call, Angelina instructed Emily to start packing. "Mom, hurry up and get ready. You're a couple, and couples should always stay together."
"Isn't this too much? It's just a business trip."

"You haven't traveled for a long time. Think of this as a chance to relax. Although the place may be far, the scenery is probably beautiful. Take some photos for me while you're there." "But your dad's going to work. If I tag along..."
"It's fine. It's only a few days. Don't worry because I will take care of Catherine."
With that, Angeline pushed Emily into her room and shut the door behind her.
She let out a small sigh of relief. It was fortunate she had sharp ears.
In the original storyline, during this period when Chester was bankrupt, a series of disasters had unfolded. Not only had Isadora been assaulted, but Gerald had also been set up and framed for infidelity. This business trip was likely the event that would lead to the latter. If Emily had accompanied him, her quick wit and adaptability would have prevented such a disaster from happening.
"Mom, this green dress looks great on you. It compliments your complexion beautifully." Angelina helped Emily dress.
It had been ages since Emily dressed up and she had been dressing like a middle-aged woman lately. She barely touched her old, sexy outfits anymore.
"Are you sure this is okay?"
"Oh my, who is this? I barely recognized you!" Florence exclaimed, putting on her glasses to get a closer look. "Mhmm, very nice. Really nice!
Emily smiled, embarrassed at her statement.
"Emily, the outfit makes you look so youthful!"
"Youthful? I'm already a grandmother!"
"Mom, you should go with Dad. workplace politics can be ruthless. If Dad has to socialize, make sure you stay nearby."
Emily still felt uneasy. "But Angelina..."
"Go on! Catherine and I will see you off."
