Love and Fortune A Gamble for Two (Angela and Chester)

Chapter Love And Fortune A Gamble For Two 66

Chapter 66

Gerald shook his head in response, signaling that he was unaware of it as well.

"How about I spend the night with Angelina while you sleep with your dad?" asked Emily.

"No way," Chester replied.

"Why not?"

"I'm not sharing the bed with Dad. You do that."

It was only at that moment that Isadora fully grasped Emily's meaning.

Angelina couldn't sleep because she was curious about the card's balance. When Chester came out of the shower, she quietly asked, "How much money is in the card? Can you tell me now?"

"It's just a small amount of money. It's not much."

'How much is it?"

"Just take it. The PIN is your birthday. Once you've recovered, feel free to spend it however you'd like."

His words confirmed Angelina's suspicion that Chester was about to make a comeback.

Angelina woke up in the middle of the night to a cat meowing downstairs. She got out of bed and looked out the window. "Chester!"

Yet Chester slept soundly, oblivious to the world around him. Angelina donned her jacket and cap, moving silently toward the entrance. Just as she reached for the door handle, an unexpected chill ran down her spine. "Where are you going?" Chester asked coldly.

Angelina instinctively placed her hand over her heart. "Why did you get up suddenly?"

"You too. You woke up and didn't turn on the lights."

He grabbed her hand, but she escaped. "Blanco is meowing down there."

Chester had just woken up, and it took him a moment to remember who Blanco was. Suddenly, he heard a noise downstairs and realized Blanco was the stray white cat Angelina used to feed while she was pregnant.

"Is Blanco hungry?"

Chester took her hand and led her back to the room. "Do you think you can go downstairs to

feed it while dressed like this?"

"Shh..."

In a sleepy tone, Chester said, "I'll take care of it. You should go back to bed. I'll place an order for cat food online. It'll arrive soon."

Angelina patiently waited upstairs while Chester arranged for cat food to be delivered. Once it arrived, he opened the package and made his way downstairs to feed the cat. "Blanco..."

The white cat stood out prominently in the darkness. Having never tasted cat food before, it gobbled it up eagerly.

Chester crouched next to the cat, lighting a cigarette as the smoke danced in the air.

Meanwhile, Angelina stood by the window, gazing out. He gestured for her to return to bed, but she remained still, her eyes fixed on the scene outside.

After some time, Blanco was full. Hence, Chester took the leftover cat food upstairs, with Blanco following him. He gestured from six feet away, saying, "Go."

Blanco didn't leave, rubbing against the nearby red maple tree.

"It's time to leave."

"Meow..."

"Blanco!"

Angelina opened the window, ready to extend her hand. However, Chester glanced upward, glaring at her. "Angie!"

In an instant, Angelina pulled her hand back.

Chester walked down the corridor with Blanco following him. He stamped his feet, but the annoying cat kept trailing behind. When they reached the house, Angelina was excited and eagerly opened the door to hug the cat. However, Chester stopped her. "There's a lot of bacteria on it."

"I've touched it before. It's fine."

"Stray cats are dirty."

"Cats are clean animals. They groom themselves daily by licking their fur."

"Angelina!" he warned.

She paused and looked at him sadly. "Blanco doesn't want to roam anymore. It wants a home."
