Love and Fortune A Gamble for Two (Angela and Chester)

Chapter A Gamble For Two 11

Chapter 11

Three days went by peacefully.

Only Angelina and Emily were left at home, but Emily kept herself busy. Every day, Emily

go out to babysit and then come home to prepare lunch and dinner for Angelina. The food wasn't great, but it at least filled their stomachs.

Angelina offered to cook for herself, but Emily refused to allow a pregnant woman like Angelina to even lift a finger.

""Emily, it's okay. I can do it."

"I know you can, but you should rest. Despite the state that we're in, we don't need a pregnant woman to work."

Hearing that, Angelina was touched. She thought Emily was the world's best mother-in-law. Emily could even be likened to the female side character's actual mother!

Angelina wondered if the female side character ever felt any remorse when she did such horrible things to Emily.

Over the past few days, Angelina sold half of her possessions. Even though they were sold as secondhand goods, the majority were still in mint condition. Angelina advertised the goods on multiple websites, and Isadora helped to do the same. Because of that, many people contacted her and placed their orders.

The delivery man would drop by every day. Over time, the delivery man would look at Angelina weirdly. Angelina thought he must've mistaken her for a rich man's mistress. After selling off half her possessions, Angelina collected about 300 thousand dollars.

One day, as Emily prepared lunch in the kitchen, she silently shed tears. She had likely been bullied at work. After all, Emily was patient and kind, making her an easy target. "Emily..."

"Yeah?"

When Angelina saw Emily crying, Angelina pretended to not notice. Angelina simply handed her bank card to Emily.

Angelina said, "Emily, I've received the money from selling my bags and clothes. There's about 300 thousand dollars in here. Talk to the landlord and see if you can buy this house." Emily paused and then said, "No, no. They were your belongings, so the money is yours too."

"We're family, so we shouldn't be so calculative We can't continue renting; we need to build our home here in Brookhaven."

After all, owning a home would provide a sense of security.

Emily continued to refuse and said, "I appreciate your thoughts. I'm content with the fact that you're willing to keep the baby and go through these hard times with us now."

Emily had always been like that. She never expected anything in return for the good things that she did. All Emily ever wanted was peace. Yet the female side character returned Emily's kindness with evil.. "Emily, just take it."

"No. Listen, Angelina. Keep this money for yourself. I know you had a rough upbringing, and you're always afraid that you might end up in the mountains again. That's why you lost yourself for a while after growing up. Now that I think about it, it's my responsibility for not educating you well," Emily said.

Over the past few days, Emily would feel guilty whenever she thought of the horrible things she said to Angelina.

Emily continued and said, "I brought you out of the mountains, so I should've taken responsibility for you. I may not be your biological mother, but I should bear the

consequences of your mistakes. Keep the money, Angelina. You need that sense of security."

Hearing Emily's words, Angelina didn't know what to say.

Angelina murmured, "Emily..."

"I know you want to contribute to this family, but I also want you to feel secure. Chester has spoken to me, and we've agreed that what belongs to you will belong to you. We won't take any of it, so you can keep it." Seeing how firm Emily was with her decision, Angelina didn't press further. But when Angelina left the kitchen, her eyes were teary.

"Emily, if babysitting is so tough, you should stop doing it."

"I haven't taken care of a child for a while. You're about to deliver soon, so I figured I should learn how to take care of babies again. After all, childcare now is very different from my time."

After lunch, Emily left, and Angelina went downstairs for a walk.

The suburbs were less lively in comparison to the city, but they were serene. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many people on the streets. Several women with kids were chatting away with elderly women under the tree.

After a short walk, Angelina started to make her way home. On the way back, she saw a familiar figure-it was Kierra Harper. At that moment, Angelina went blank, and she turned around to leave.

"Stand right there! Stand there!"

Kierra approached Angelina and grabbed Angelina by her shoulder.

Kierra snarled, "You're not answering my calls, you've blocked my number, and you'd hang up after hearing my voice. What's the meaning of this?"

"Nothing. Didn't I say that we should stop contacting each other?" said Angelina, removing Kierra's hands from her shoulders.

Hearing that, Kierra took a deep breath and said, "Angelina, we're friends. How can I just cut you off like that? What's wrong?"

Then, Kierra's gaze shifted to Angelina's belly. Kierra said mockingly, "Do you plan to deliver the baby, Mrs. Whitmore?" Angelina took a step back and said, "We're no longer friends. What business do you have with me?"

"Adrian has increased his offer to ten million dollars!" said Kierra.

But the truth was Adrian had offered 20 million dollars.

Kierra said excitedly, "It's ten million dollars! Aside from Adrian, other people want you too. These rich kids love you. If I had a face like yours, I would say yes in a heartbeat."

Kierra was envious of Angelina's worth, but when she remembered how she could profit from all this, she felt better.

Kierra continued and said, "Why did you suddenly change your mind? Why are you living here? Chester is handsome, but he can't stay handsome without money. It's not like he can make a living with his face! Wake up, Angelina. As friends, I can't just watch you fall into

this

trap."

But Angelina thought Kierra was the real trap.

Lightly pulling her arms away, Angelina asked, "How much are you profiting from being my referral? What did you promise them?"

"What do you mean? We're friends."

"You know full well what I'm referring to, Kierra. We both know that."

The female side character had it rough because of Kierra. If it weren't for Kierra, she wouldn't have met her doom so soon.

"Oh my God, what are you talking about?"

"I know what you're planning. But you don't know what I think."

Hearing that, Kierra's expression shifted. She barked, "That's not up to you! How can you turn on your promises?" Chapter 11

Just then, two burly men got out of a van nearby. Angelina tried to escape, but Kierra grabbed

her hair.

"You should've complied when I was being nice! Do you think you're still that almighty Mrs. Whitmore? Pfft! You're just a pregnant woman! Be grateful that somebody still wants you. Why are you being so picky?" Angelina hadn't expected Kierra to blatantly capture her. Angelina screamed, "Help!"

But Angelina was silenced. Just as she started screaming, Kierra covered her mouth.

Kierra barked, "Why are you just standing there? Come here!"

The van had stopped at the side of the road. The two burly men immediately tried to grab Angelina, but Angelina bit Kierra's hands and ran off. However, Angelina didn't go too far before the two men caught her. Since Angelina was pregnant, she struggled to run. After a short run, it felt as if her belly was going to fall off.

The group tied Angelina up and pulled her into the van.

Kierra said victoriously, "Hah! Thinking of fighting back? I don't care what you think, but don't even think of getting in my way of earning money!"

"Kierra, I don't think it's a good idea. After all, she's Chester Whitmore's..." "Chester Whitmore? Nobody's going to know that name in a few years."
