Love and Fortune A Gamble for Two (Angela and Chester)

Angela and Chester Chapter 99

Chapter 99

Chapter 99

Seeing Chester flustered left Angelina feeling thoroughly satisfied. She even hummed a tune while showering.

Meanwhile, Chester finished tending to Catherine. His back ached so much that he could barely straighten up. He picked up his phone and called Isadora. "Where are you?"

"I'm planning to stay over at Megan's tonight. We have something to discuss.."

"Send me a photo."

Sitting in the living room, Isadora found his request unreasonable but still snapped a picture and sent it over. Afterward, there was no reply from him.

The photo showed Megan tidying up the table, likely after dinner with Isadora.

"I think it's an excellent choice that you're not going home. With your parents out, it's just the two of them there. If you return home, you'd only be a third wheel."

Chester drank a glass of water, but his stomach still hurt terribly. Cold sweat trickled down his/

forehead.

When Angelina came out of the bathroom, she noticed his pale face. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I'm going out to buy something. Keep an eye on Catherine."

"Do you want me to come with you?"

"No need."

His stomachache had been excruciating. It was the first time he'd eaten so much spice. After purchasing some medicine, he immediately popped a pill into his mouth, and the pain eased slightly.

Just as he neared the apartment building entrance, he suddenly heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, he was met with a blow to the head.

Before he could react, he fell to the ground and was kicked several times.

Angelina became concerned when Chester didn't return after a while. When she recalled his pâle complexion earlier, she feared that he wasn't feeling well and dashed downstairs. She got just in time to see a man dressed in black beating him with a large stick. "Chester!"

Her shriek lit up the entire hallway. The man turned to meet her gaze, then immediately

bolted outside.

"Chester! Wake up!"

His forehead was bleeding. Panicked, she knelt beside him, trying to stop the bleeding.

After giving Catherine to Florence, Angelina brought Chester to the neighborhood clinic just as the doctor was about to close for the day.

"Chester, you should call the police

This is outrageous. Attacking

someone in broad daylight? If you let this slide, they'll only grow bolder in the future."

Though the wound wasn't too serious, Chester's face and body were bruised. And on top of that, his stomach pain left him too weak to fight back.

"Did you offend someone? They were quite ruthless. Fortunately, they didn't cause you any brain damage."

"Does it still hurt?"

"No."

After his wounds were treated,

Angelina helped him back home.

When they reached their building, an

unsettling memory resurfaced, the assailant's eyes staring at her.

The man wore a cap, a mask, and a casual black shirt. His tall, slim build gave nothing away. But those eyes were strangely familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen them

before.

"Chester, Angelina, you two need to be careful. The hallway cameras are often broken. I still think it's best to call the police." Taking Catherine from Florence, Chester said, "There's no need for that, Madam Hastings. I know who's behind this."

Upon hearing this, Angelina widened her eyes in amazement.

Perhaps because of his injuries, he fell asleep early. After putting Catherine inside her cradle, Angelina started tidying his clothes.

A small bottle of medicine tumbled out as she shook out his jacket. A wave of guilt washed over her as she picked it up.

So, he was uncomfortable and couldn't handle spice.

Angelina climbed into bed and wrapped her arms around him, kissing his forehead gently. Half-asleep, Chester instinctively pulled her tightly into his embrace.
