Chapter Substitute 95
Chapter 25
Her words angered Winni, who slapped Jean twice and grabbed her hair. "Shut up! Today, I'll show you the consequences of opposing me."
Berton, witnessing Jean being hit, tried to rush in but was stopped by Duke.
Winni ordered two burly men beside her, "You two go have some fun, but don't kill her."
Those men were just hired hands, unaware of the gravity of the situation, and their eyes were fixed
solely on Jean.
Duke scanned the area, confirming there were no other helpers, and exchanged a glance with Berton.
The two men rushing down the stairs took Winni by surprise.
As the men reached for Jean, Duke and Berton sprang into action.
Though the hired thugs were professionals, Duke and Berton struggled against them. By the time
they finished, they realized Jean had been taken to the top floor by Winni.
"Don't... Winni, stay calm!"
"Don't touch her!"
Seeing the tense expressions on the two men, Winni suddenly turned vicious, pulling out a knife
toward Jean. "Are you feeling proud? Two men are completely devoted to you!"
The knife pressed against Jean's neck began to draw blood.
Behind them was the fifth floor; a fall would be fatal or leave her disabled.
Berton shouted, "Winni, I can give you anything you want! Even my life!"
"I'll marry you!"
Winni looked at the man she loved, who was willing to sacrifice himself for another woman, and a cold laugh escaped her lips. It was a bitter realization. "Berton, you used to love me the most. When I left, you were devastated. She is just the newcomer; why did you change?"

Chapter 23
Berton, panicking at the sight of blood seeping from Jean's neck, shouted, "Winni, if you dare to harm her, I swear I won't let you go!"
Winni, seeing Berton's desperation, felt utterly defeated. "I never intended to survive this."
Only Duke noticed the murderous intent gradually seeping into Winni's eyes; he knew they couldn't delay any longer.
While Winni was distracted, Jean used the pillar behind her to rub against the rope binding her hands, giving Duke a knowing glance. They nodded in silent agreement.
They lunged forward when Winni was caught off guard.
But Winni noticed Jean's movement and became enraged, shoving Jean away.
Berton reacted swiftly, stepping forward to catch Jean.
In the chaos, they heard Berton scream in pain.
Jean was successfully rescued, but Berton had lost his balance and tumbled down the stairs.
Below lay scattered steel bars, a horrifying sight.
Blood splattered everywhere, soaking into the concrete.
Winni screamed
in terror at the sight of Berton falling.
Jean and Duke rushed downstairs to check on him. Berton, using his last ounce of strength, confessed to Jean, "I... I'm sorry. Consider it penance..." At that moment, police sirens echoed outside.
