Chapter Substitute 4

"Since you don't want them, we won't make it up then. Don't regret it later."

As they spoke, the three carefully watched Katerina's reaction.

But she remained calm, her expression neutral. "Don't worry, I won't regret it."

That evening. Mr. and Mrs. Green returned from their business trip abroad.

At the family dinner, Bethany, as the daughter of a servant, was supposed to help her mother in the kitchen.

But Andrew grabbed her hand and pressed down on her shoulder to make her sit in the seat beside him.

"There are plenty of people in the kitchen. Just sit here and eat with us."

Bethany awkwardly tried to stand up, but Ethan and Tony both held her hands, gesturing for her to stay seated.

Seeing this scene, Mr. and Mrs. Green's expressions darkened with displeasure, but they said nothing.

Mrs. Green deliberately ignored her three sons and looked kindly at Katerina:

"Kate, yesterday was your birthday. Who did you choose to marry? I've already picked out venues for the wedding banquet. Such a joyous occasion should be celebrated grandly - we can't let you be shortchanged."

At these words, all three brothers fell silent.

The dinner table became deathly quiet.

Then Ethan's deep, magnetic voice reached everyone's ears:

"Yesterday Beth had a fever, so I didn't go."

"I was busy taking care of Beth, so I didn't go either," Tony said lazily, showing no concern for the matter.

Andrew chimed in: "I was too busy to go too. Anyway, since Kate hasn't chosen yet, we can discuss marriage later!"

As their responses increasingly fueled Mr. and Mrs. Green's anger, just as they were about to explode, Katerina received a photo of a ring from Joshua.

"Would you like this wedding ring? If you don't, I can take you to choose another."

The ring in the photo was a pigeon egg-sized heart-shaped pink diamond, surrounded by countless tiny diamonds, dazzling and resplendent.

It was beautiful beautiful enough to make any girl's heart flutter.

Katerina smiled slightly and passed her phone to Mr. and Mrs. Green.

"Uncle Green, Aunt Green, I'm already married. The wedding is set for two weeks from now. Look, this is the wedding ring my husband sent me to look at. I love it." With these words, the atmosphere in the entire room froze.

For a moment, everyone was in disbelief.

Mr. and Mrs. Green were so shocked they couldn't form a complete sentence for a long while.

After some time, they finally stammered: "Kate, is this... real or fake?"

Just as Katerina was about to answer "real," Ethan cut in coldly with a dark expression: "Enough! It's one thing to play around with us, but now you're making such jokes in front of Mom and Dad?"
