Chapter 69
“Are you going to ignore everything that happened? That girl was rude to us. She insulted me. She insulted your mother, Hunter. nothing happened?” Mrs. Moore ranted as she walked into Hunter’s room. They had been back to their mansion hours earlier.
Are you go
“I’m talking to you, Hunter. Are you going to pretend nothing happened?” She fumed when he didn’t say anything.
Π
going to pretend
“What do you want, Mom? First, Summer is not a little girl, secondly, she was only defending herself from bullies and not being rude. She never insulted you, and even if she did, it was all your fault. You caused it all, so why don’t you accept this and just allow me to have peace of mind, Mom?” Hunter rose to his feet and ranted frustratingly
Hunter-
“If she is not good enough, that is up to me to decide. I told you that you have no right to choose a life partner for me, so why don’t you just stop already? You are driving me nuts,” He ran his fingers through his hair.
“Why are you suddenly like this because of a woman-
“The question is when did you become a bully, Mom? I have always known you to be problematic, but bullying other people was something you never inhibit, so where is this coming from now? Or maybe you’ve always had that in you but did good in hiding it,”
A hot slap landed across Hunter’s cheek, and he bit his lip
“I am your mother, so you are going to speak with me with some respect!” She snapped at him furiously, and he huffed.
“You are my mother, so you should act like one and stop being a f**g bully! We both know that you will never allow anyone to treat Hazel the way you are treating Summer, so stop being a bully! Stop doing to others what you can’t take even half being done to your daughter. It’s disgusting!” And with that, he walked out of the room and slammed the door hard behind him.
*Hunter Hunter… I’m not done talking. Come back here,” She yelled his name as she hurried after him, but sadly, she failed to catch up with him..
Hunter descended the staircase as fast as his legs could carry him, his heart in turmoil.
“What’s wrong, brother? You don’t look fine,” Hazel stood up from the couch as soon as he arrived at the Hunter.
“Talk to your Mom, and you should work on your manners also,” He’snarled at her and walked away without sparing another second in the living room.
Hunter breathed out once he hopped inside his car at the parking lot, his head resting on the headrest and his eyes closed.
He reached for his phone and dialed Summer’s number. Ever since the incident the previous day, he had not called her, knowing how sad she would be
The call rang for seconds, and just when he thought it was going to end, she finally picked up.
“Summer… Hello? How are you feeling now? I’m sorry about yesterday. I’m sorry I didn’t call you, I just didn’t know how to comfort you,” Waves of guilt spurred through him. It felt horrible that his family treated her in that manner.
“What did you do to her?” He was expecting to hear her voice, but his eyes snapped open when he heard an angry masculine voice which sounded very familiar.
“Xander?” That was the voice he would always recognise even if he was ever in a coma. That annoying voice would always ring in his head,
“Why do you have 5
Summer’s phone?” His blood boiled in rage, his fingers clutching his phope tightly as he gazed into space.

asked you a question. What the hell did you do to Summer?” Care Xander’s angry voice for the second time, and he scoffed.
72%
“Do you think you have the right to be worried or concerned about her? You are just her ex-husband, so why are you acting all relevant?” He rolled his eyes, rubbing his eyelids gently.
“Her ex-husband who is a threat to you. Her ex husband who her heart still belong to. So tell me, what the f**k did you do to her? Xander’s voice came out even louder and angrier this time.
“I’ve been waiting for you. Please come and take me home,” Hunter’s pupils dilated and his jaw dropped to the ground when he heard a familiar feminine voice in the background.
“Summer?” Her name escaped his lips in a low tone as his heart tore into a million shreds.
“Is that my phone you are holding? Why are you with my phone?” Her voice sounded from the other end again.
“Someone is on the phone. It’s Hunter,” He was hoping she’d feel remorseful and would speak to him when Xander told her that he was on the phone, but his broken heart was stomped on yet again as the call ended without hearing her voice any further.
Hunter held his phone to his ear as tears welled up in his reddened eyes. Isn’t it obvious that he was madly in love with her? Why can’t she see through
“xander is not the only man… Why can’t you see that I’m dying for you?” A drop of tears finally dropped from his eyes as he dropped his head on the steering wheel and whimpered silently
A little knock on the car window was what he needed to help him raise his gaze, but he exhaled deeply in frustration when he Hazel’s little eyes popping out of their sockets as they tried to see through the tinted glass
“Is she crazy?” He muttered then wiped his tears before he wined down the glass.
“What do you want?” He tried not to sound cold to her.
“You are still here! I thought you already left.”
“What do you want?” He repeated his question, ready to wine up the glass if she was not ready to speak.
“Uhm… Well, I’m going to the library, so I was wondering if you could drop–”
“I’m not going that way.” He cut her off and started to wine up the glass, but she held it and pouted her lips.
“Mom said she is going to use her car, so I can drive hers. It’s all your fault that I’ve not gotten a car for myself yet, so can you at least take responsibility for that?” She whined, pouting her lips. Hazel had protested against the idea of Hunter not allowing her to own a car severally, but since she never won, she had given up.
‘It’s not yet time to own a car’ For some r
e reason best known to him, he had always said that whenever Hazel brought up the idea of him buying her a car. Since he was managing the family’s finance, there was nothing she could do but to just give up. Not that she could do anything, anyway.
He hesitantly brought out his wallet from his pocket then took out a hundred dollars note and held it out to her.
“Take a cab. This should transport you to and from the library,”
“Are you kidding me? You don’t expect me to take a public transport, do
“Then just find your way and don’t disturb me,” He finally wined up the glass then started the car and drove out through the big gate. Though he didn’t want to hurt Hazel, he wasn’t in such a bright mood for all that b u l l h i t today. At least not now.

Chapter 69
“Why am I going there? Am I going to show her how pathetic I am?” He muttered as he drove down the road to Summer’s house. For once, he wanted to held his pride in check even though he barely had any left in him, but it was not possible. Not when his heart kept calling out to her.
After a brief ride, he arrived at Summer’s apartment, and just when he alighted from the car, a white jeep pulled over in front of the gate also, and Summer alighted before Xander did from the driver’s seat.
“Hmph!” He huffed and bit his bottom lip as his chest contracted.
What was the point of forcing himself on her when she clearly never wanted him from the onset? But then, why did it have to be Xander?
