Legacy of Darkness

Chapter The Final Verse

Roisin and the others were having dinner at a restaurant, it had been an uneventful time so far in Inchaya. Anya and Roisin had finally been able to take time to themselves. Ariel and Ashe had grown even closer.

Anya and Wes had also made their relationship official. The group were chatting away about various things around the city, when the restaurant fell silent.

"Huh, what's going on?" Wes asked.

Everyone was looking at the door, where Trevela was stood, wearing his old King of the Night armour. He was looking directly at Roisin.

"You evaded me before, Anomaly. You won't escape this time" Trevela growled. People began fleeing as Roisin backed away.

"Who even are you?!" Roisin asked.

"Hmm, I guess an apt term would be... The Infernal Harbinger. Though, you may call me, Treleva" Treleva smiled wickedly.

The others kicked their chairs backward and summoned their Celestial Weapons.

"Please, I came only for the Anomaly" Treleva sighed.

"Why do you keep calling me that?" Roisin shouted.

"Because that is what you are, child. You wield the power of the Celestial Harbingers, but are a mere human" Treleva shrugged.

"What do you want of me?" Roisin asked.

"To take you out of the equation" Treleva answered honestly.

"Not on my watch!" Anya shouted as she ran at Trevela, he shook his head and ripped her mechanical arm off before throwing it to the ground, Anya collapsed to the floor.

"ANYA!" Wes yelled as he ran over to her.

"I came only for Roisin, if you wish to throw your lives at me, so be it..." Trevela said, as he summoned his Infernal Blade.

"STOP!" Roisin shouted. "No more, I'll come..." She added.

"Roisin! No!" Ashe grabbed Roisin's hand.

"I have to, I'm sorry" Roisin frowned, her hand shaking.

"We can beat him, Ros, please!" Ashe cried.

"I refuse to let any more of you come to any harm" Roisin said as she looked down at Anya, Anya looked at Roisin and frowned.

"But..." Ashe began. Roisin freed her arm from Ashe and walked slowly towards Treleva.

"Don't try anything" Treleva warned Roisin.

"I won't" Roisin replied. She walked up to him as a tear fell from her eye.

"Rory won't be here to save you this time" He winked as he grabbed Roisin's arm.

"Ros!" Ariel shouted, but in a mere second Roisin and Treleva disappeared in a flash of light. Ashe jumped over the table and over to the spot where Roisin had been.

"Roisin! No!" She cried, Ariel comforted Ashe as she broke down.

Lotte ran over to Anya and began to repair the damage as best she could.

"Lotte... is it bad?" Wes asked.

"It is..." She frowned, but then looked Wes in the eyes. "But she'll pull through" She nodded.

"We need to get her back to the ship" Ariel stated, Lotte nodded in agreement. Ariel helped Ashe to her feet, and they all headed outside the restaurant. The street markets had fallen empty, which left the route back to the airship clear.

The crew quickly made their way to the airship docks, where The Wild Rose awaited. The city was completely silent, aside from a few guards heading toward the restaurant.

The team soon boarded The Wild Rose and Anya was carried into the med bay, where Ariel and Lotte began working on healing Anya. The others waited outside.

"We're going to have to get a replacement arm for her" Lotte stated.

"Where can we get one? They're not exactly lying around for the taking" Ariel sighed.

"We have to head over to Raryst as fast as we can, there should be some left in Bryan's lab" Lotte stated.

"What about Roisin? We need to find her!" Ariel yelled.

"I know, Ariel, but... we need to get this arm for Anya too, she's in pain" Lotte frowned.

"Go... to... Roisin..." Anya stuttered. Ariel sighed and shook her head.

"We're going to stop of at Raryst first, we don't know where Roisin is, so while we're there, we can see if we can find her somehow" Ariel said as she held Anya's remaining hand.

"O... okay" Anya nodded as a tear ran down her face.

Outside the room, Wes paced back and forth. Ashe was staring out of the viewscreen, as the ship slowly took off and headed toward Raryst, on Ariel's command.

"She'll pull through..." Ashe sighed.

"Roisin?" Wes asked.

"Anya, she's strong" Ashe replied.

"Roisin is too, Ashe, she'll be back with us before you know it" Wes said as he placed his hand on Ashe's shoulder. Ashe smiled slightly.

"I wish I had been more useful..." Ashe sighed.

"You saw what he did to Anya, he would have killed us" Wes replied.

"But... I just let Roisin walk into his trap" Ashe frowned.

"It was her choice, and you know Roisin, once she's made up her mind, you can't change it for her" Wes sighed.

"You're right" Ashe nodded. Wes hugged Ashe and sighed, as the airship flew across the land below on the path to Raryst.
