Legacy of Darkness

Chapter Chains of Fate

Back in the present day, in the Crystech offices, Harry, Amanda and Seb were still tied up. Lumina turned away from the window, with a look of sorrow on her face.

"We have no choice, the Senior Partners are more powerful than you could ever imagine" Lumina stated. "My advice? Stay away from any contracts... that's how they gain leverage over you, some kind of blood magic" Lumina explained.

"Why are you telling us this?" Amanda asked.

"I am not the devil you think I am, I have done many bad things in my time, but this... I cannot" Lumina explained.

"Won't they want you dead?" Seb asked, his head still aching from the vision.

"It isn't my life I'm putting on the line with this" Lumina pounded her fist against the wall, as the thought of Araneia dying filled her with sorrow. "But I know what she would want... I've been so selfish" Lumina sighed.

"You expect us to trust you, after everything, while you have Bryan as your thrall?" Amanda shouted.

"I..." Lumina began before sighing and shaking her head. "Bryan is to protect me, not from the Senior Partners, though" She explained.

"Roisin?" Seb asked. Lumina nodded.

"You're afraid of little Roisin? She wouldn't hurt a fly..." Harry chuckled.

"General Summers... you never saw the look in her eye after I killed her soulmate, she hates me" Lumina explained.

"Well, maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't have done that" Seb said sarcastically. "Just a thought" He added.

Lumina sighed.

"I wanted to prove a point to Abyssia... I was wreckless" Lumina explained.

"You always have been" Amanda frowned.

"So, what now?" Harry asked.

"Now, I'm going untie you all and you will rendezvous with Roisin" Lumina explained. "I need you to find the amulet of blood in the ruined city, and Roisin will need to take that to Lumina Academy to seal the tear in the veil" She added.

"And the Senior Partners will allow this?" Seb asked.

"They will try to stop you, but they can only act through those they are blood bonded with, like me..." Lumina explained.

"Where even is Lumina Academy, and the ruined city?" Amanda asked.

"The Forgotten Continent. Also known as the North Pole" Lumina said, as she turned to look out of the window. "I cannot overstate the importance of sealing the tear. I would not be standing before any of you humans, begging for assistance, if it wasn't important" She added.

"We'll do it, but if this is a set up, you're dead" Amanda threatened.

"I already am" Lumina frowned, as she walked around the room and cut everybody free. "Rychard may try to stop you, but fight your way out..." Lumina added.

"How come you still have the will to help us, despite having a blood bond?" Seb asked.

"I'm still the Celestial Harbinger, it makes me a little more resistant than you" Lumina nodded.

"Right..." Harry said. "Let's get out of here..." He added, the other two nodded and exited the room, leaving Lumina stood alone.

She frowned as a shadow figure appeared before her, and thrust its hands on the temples of her head.

Another vision. Araneia dead, Treleva standing over her corpse, next to her, Lumina.

Lumina snapped out of the vision.

"Fuck fate" She uttered, as she summoned her sword of pure light and thrust it through the shadow.

"FOOL!" The shadow's voices echoed. Lumina could feel the Senior Partner's clawing into her mind, she yelled and ran toward the window and jumped out.

As she fell, she felt serene, the Senior Partner's power lessened as she neared the ground, at ground level, Iceman awaited her.

"Do it, quick!" Lumina yelled, Iceman nodded, and cut a blood vessel in her arm, but before it began to bleed he put his hand over her arm, freezing her blood in place, then shattering it.

Lumina fell lifeless to the floor, Iceman knelt down and picked her up, before running as fast as he could away from Disceath.

Lumina opened her eyes, she was in a dark room, she felt weaker than she had felt in centuries, stood looking down at her, was Abyssia.

"Rest, sister, we have work to do..." She smiled.

Lumina nodded and closed her eyes.

Abyssia also felt weak, for she had given Lumina more than half of her own blood. To break the bond that the Senior Partners had gained over Lumina. Lumina and Abyssia had forged these plans secretly over the last few months, sending each other encoded messages and plans.

Abyssia, like Lumina, was prepared to fight fate itself, if it meant saving Araneia. The human who had once saved them.
