Chapter Magic
I then slid towards Krampus on the ice!, and we had a ferocious battle!
Like our previous battles, there was no winner, and we were soon interrupted by Enki poking his head in at us from the sky and saying, “Sorry about not warning you about this door! Easy to get trapped in there! Krampus!! How’d you get here?!?”
“Gotta go!” Krampus said, and quickly slid out of sight.
I didn’t bother to chase him, and I made my way towards Enki.
Enki used some magic to help me get up to the door, and I was soon out of that blasted room!
“So,” I asked, “how did things go with the fairy godmother?”
“Oh,” Enki said, while handing me a cup of coffee, “I let the Princess out of the dungeon and she’s ruling the world now. She says that she’s doing a surprise decree today!”
“Oh no!” I cried, “We have to stop her!”
“Couldn’t if we wanted to.” Enki said, as he grabbed a remote and turned on a tv, “There she is on the tv and making her decree now.”
I turned towards the tv, and saw the Princess saying these words, “Hear ye, hear ye! This Christmas is the last Christmas ever! Christmas will be banned next year and every year after that! Any who celebrate Christmas after this year will be severely punished!
Also!, I decree that my successor is now Krampus. That’s right, if anything happens to me, then Krampus becomes the new ruler of the world!
Anyhoo!, Merry Christmas, and be sure to enjoy it!, for it will indeed be the last Christmas that you’ll be allowed to enjoy…”
Enki stared in disbelief at the screen, and neither of us listened to the rest of the Princess’s speech.
“She tricked me!” Enki cried, “The Princess assured me that she hated Krampus and that she’d never allow Christmas to be destroyed! This is devastating!
I’ll tell you what though!, I’ll still be celebrating Christmas, decree or no decree! Nothing can steal my favorite holiday from me!”
“In her defense,” I said with a shrug, “I think that she’s still being mind-controlled by Krampus, which means that it’s not really fair to blame her, ya know?”
“Well, then!,” Enki said indignantly, “we’ll just have to figure out some way to break the mind-control spell that Krampus placed upon her!, won’t we?”
“That does seem like the logical next step.” I agreed, “Shall we make our way over to his castle, then?”
“Indeed we shall!” Enki agreed!, “Although perhaps we should visit a witch named Zelly first. She can get a bit furious at people who don’t like the food that she cooks (which means that you’d better not criticize her cooking), but she knows a lot about how the mind works and is the person who I think will be most likely to be able to help us break the mind-control spell that the Princess is under.”
“Sounds good!” I said, “Where is she?”
“Well…” Enki muttered, as he went over to his computer and pressed some buttons, “She’s on the planet of Tockta (which is sometimes shortened to merely Tock) right now, which means that if we use my fastest spaceship we can get to her in about a day!”
“Hmmm…” I mused, “That means that if we take a day to get there and a day to get back then we’ll be home on Christmas Eve! And if we stay there for a day then we won’t get back until Christmas Day!”
“Yup,” Enki agreed, “and we’re going to do all that we can to make sure that the upcoming Christmas Eve and Christmas Day aren’t the last ones ever!
If Zelly can’t give us the key to undoing the mind-control, then we’ll find someone else! And if that person can’t do it, then we’ll find someone else! And we’ll keep on finding someone else until we figure out how to save the Princess from Krampus’s mind-control spell so that she can save Christmas!”
Suddenly!, we heard a knocking on the fortress’s door, and we saw through the video feed that it was Malin. We dashed! towards fortress’s entrance, and Enki and I greeted him with Christmas treats and drinks!
“Thanks!” he said gratefully, “Did you see the Princess on tv??? She’s still being mind-controlled! We have to save her!”
“And save her we will, my friend!” Enki said happily, “Because the 3 of us are about to go on a little spaceship journey to go visit someone who can hopefully provide us with the magic that we’ll need to save the Princess! and insure that this will in fact NOT be the last ever Christmas…”
